Were my expectations for this deep clean too high?

anonuser63732 · 28/02/2023 18:22

Got a deep clean that covered "the baseboards, floors, walls, ceilings, fans, blinds, inside & outside all appliances, every bathroom and every room". This was the end result of that clean and I don't feel that the service was completed. Can I have some non-biased opinions? Particularly if you're in the cleaning profession. I have over 30 pictures, but I can only attach 5.

Thank you!

Yeah that’s not deep clean standard. Were you paying for the completed job or had you only agreed x hours and they did what they could in the time?

journeyofinsanity · 28/02/2023 18:28

Did you give them a limited time frame?

LittleOwl153 · 28/02/2023 18:29

Umm... I'd be considering booking one. This is my fear.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 28/02/2023 18:31

I wouldn't be happy with that, especially the toilet.

Rebel2 · 28/02/2023 18:31

Doesn't look good
I've just had one done, 2 of them for 3hrs and the place is gleaming. £65

quietnightmare · 28/02/2023 18:33

How much did you pay?

MsChatterbox · 28/02/2023 18:33

I wouldn't even call that a basic clean!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 28/02/2023 18:34

That is not a deep clean. It’s not even a regular clean. But it is bone idleness !

AdventFridgeOfShame · 28/02/2023 18:34

Do you have before photos?

Oblomov23 · 28/02/2023 18:35

Hmm, I wouldn't be happy with that.

pilates · 28/02/2023 18:36

Poor

How many hours and for and how many people?

Alwayswonderedwhy · 28/02/2023 18:37

That's not even a basic clean. Is this an end of tenancy thing or your home?
How much did you pay. Was it a
reputable company?

ReformedWaywardTeen · 28/02/2023 18:37

I think you've been ripped off, I'm not a cleaner but I do all that at once a fortnight due to DS having dust allergies and I do a far better job.

They've missed some glaringly obvious things that I would expect from a general clean let alone "deep" clean. We moved from one rental and the landlord came to inspect, he asked did we get a cleaner in, and I said no, I did it myself. He was chuffed.

PotKettel · 28/02/2023 18:39

Very poor standard

Isthisexpected · 28/02/2023 18:40

That's not even a standard clean.

Singularity82 · 28/02/2023 18:52

If you paid for the service, YADNBU. If it was a time frame, ie you paid for two hours, well there’s only so much they can do. However, they should have been upfront with you about that.

FletchingStraight · 28/02/2023 18:52

I had someone in to do a proper deep spring clean for me & after 5 hours I really couldn't see what had been done. She'd done ONE bedroom, a small hallway & half my oven. Curtain pole finials were still dusty & skirting under the radiator & all corners. She even missed a window in the bedroom!! I used a company & complained but they only refunded some of what I'd paid them - I paid the cleaner £16 an hour!!!! Plus I've had to go,back over her work. Will never use an cleaner again, standards have just to the bottom of the barrel.

Sparkleshine21 · 28/02/2023 18:53

Yeah, I’m a cleaner and that’s not a good standard at all. How many hours was she there? For all you’ve listed including general tidying, wiping down every surface and cupboard door, cleaning and hoovering all floors and bathrooms etc I would say 5h. More if you want multiple bedrooms cleaned.

user567543 · 28/02/2023 18:55

I find when I book a deep clean they never budget enough hours but if that was the case they should say we didn't get to it all, we need x more time, rather than saying that's the deep clean...

It's not great but I've had similar issues

PermanentTemporary · 28/02/2023 18:56

I wouldn't consider that any kind of clean, no.

I had a really good deep clean of my whole house after my bedroom was replastered - there was plaster dust literally everywhere. I paid for 8 hours including paid breaks because it was an absolutely crappy job to take on. Cleaning is really tough. But they should have said 'we can only do x amount/these rooms in this time' and then done that part properly, if they couldn't do the whole job.

anonuser63732 · 28/02/2023 18:59

We're in the US so it was $329 which works out to about £275. It was a set price based on the size of the house and this was after the second visit - they had already come back once to fix a lot of other issues. They looked around the house before starting and said it was perfectly manageable at the quoted price.

I should have done a more thorough inspection with them but I was working when they finished. So we did a brief walkthrough where they pointed out the things they fixed, but I was assured I could go over anything at my own pace once she left and let her know if there was anything else. On reporting the issues though, she would not fix them.

I always say my lottery win dream is just to get someone to do a deep/moving out type clean. I think I’d cry if it didn’t turn out like something from cribs (am no help at all!)

Tg2023 · 28/02/2023 19:01

Definitely not a decent clean; never mind a deep clean.
Unacceptable!

Singularity82 · 28/02/2023 19:02

£275?!?! 😱😱😱 You are DEFINITELY not being unreasonable!!!

Happysalley · 28/02/2023 19:04

Blimey, I'm a cleaner and after hearing what you paid I may move to the US.

That's terrible op. The toilet hasn't even had a basic clean. How many hours did they do and what size is your home?
