Not a huge fan of the shoes (seems to be the general consensus) but I love the playsuit.

It's not my style, but if I saw someone else wearing it I would think good on them - at any age.

ymemanresu · 26/02/2023 23:12

As a size 8 (lucky you! 😊) definitely not . Have a frest 50th

FancyFanny · 26/02/2023 23:14

Yes, age aside, it's going to look cheap and tacky, especially with those shoes!

These days, high heels and legs out just looks dated and too 'try hard'.

I saw a woman yesterday heading into the city on the train- she was probably in her 40s, slim, attractive etc. However she was wearing high heels, bare false-tanned legs' playsuit and leather jacket. I first noticed her because her legs were practically blue: it was so cold! Then I began to wonder why she dressed like that? Everyone else was wearing thick tights, jeans or trousers, big coats and hats and scarves- even those who were dressed for going out all day and staying its the evening were reasonably warm looking.

Englishash · 26/02/2023 21:28

Please don't wear this. It looks tacky and tarty. Too much on show.

@Englishash

bit misogynist!

Showersugar · 26/02/2023 23:14

Very glam, enjoy!

JMSA · 26/02/2023 23:16

Ignore the frumps OP, or those who would dress on their 50th 'for warmth' 🙄
Wear it with pride and have a wonderful birthday!

Movingonup2023 · 26/02/2023 23:17

Not to old, you have the figure for it so go for it as long as you feel comfortable. As for the shoes my 64 year old mum has a very similar pair and I’m jealous she can wear them!

😂😂😂😂😂 keep telling yourself that.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/02/2023 23:19

I would appreciate a definition of "try hard".

I am not on the pull, I am not trying to get my photo in the papers, I will be out with my sister, three of my daughters and a couple of friends. What, exactly, would I look like I am "trying hard" to do?

Not being snarky, as I have been accused of, just genuinely dont know!

Surely no one thinks that OP’s birthday outfit should be selected on the basis of how warm and comfortable it is?!

Englishash · 26/02/2023 23:20

Not 'misogynist' at all.
I just believe that you don't display legs AND boobs (small or otherwise) simultaneously. One or the other if you choose. No intention here to please or offend.

Zola1 · 26/02/2023 23:20

Playsuit is very birthday and I absolutely hope to be in the shape to pull it off when I'm 50!!
Shoes I'd go for something different, maybe an open toe black platform of some sort as I think the silver are too stage school

BitOutOfPractice · 26/02/2023 23:21

If I were a size 8 I’d wear it to the supermarket op. It’s fabulous.

I do agree the shoes need a rethink.

@FancyFanny

she was dressed like that cos
a) she wants to
b) not everyone prioritises comfort above all costs. So no, not all people heading out for drinks, dinner will be wearing thick jumpers and sensible boots and big coats. How boring would that be?!

Napmum · 26/02/2023 23:22

It looks a little short, but that might be the model being very tall with long legs.

I'd say the playsuit is fine, but don't wear those shoes with it. That's too much!

I also sign up to "one or the other" be it legs OR boobs, but never both. Lips OR eyes, never both.

This outfit is definitely legs only.

I think it needs leggings or something on the bottom half.

What???!!!!!!!!! 💀

Maireas · 26/02/2023 23:24

You're not too old!
That's a cute playsuit, go for it 👍
The shoes are very dated though, ankle strap high heels? Get something a bit more modern and funky.

LuckySantangelo35 · 26/02/2023 23:26

Whatever you do op - DO NOT WEAR LEGGINGS WITH IT!!

sooooooo dated

Moveoverdarlin · 26/02/2023 23:26

That dress will look great on you because you have a great figure regardless of your age. It would look dreadful on a 25 year old who is a size 16. I get what people are saying about the shoes being a bit cheap looking, but when they’re on you’re feet and in a party environment no one will tell. It’s super stylish and not remotely tarty! Apart from legs, nothing is on show and it’s not tight. Those chunky silver sandals that someone posted above are truly hideous. Wouldn’t wear them if you paid me.

theministerscat · 26/02/2023 23:27

You are not too old to wear that - it's all about having style and confidence. Some women would still look fabulous in that play suit at 70! Personally I'm not crazy about the shoes, and they will be excruciatingly uncomfortable after about half an hour, but if you love them then go for it. I really hate how often women online use the phrase 'attention seeking' as an insult about other women when they dare to be a bit flamboyant or different - I guess it can feel threatening somehow. Wear what you like and enjoy it!

Zola1 · 26/02/2023 23:27

Shoe thoughts... if you really want a silver, I think these would work much better with the vibe of the playsuit!
Also think any of these black could work well. Happy birthday!

to wear this for my 50th?
to wear this for my 50th?
to wear this for my 50th?
Luredbyapomegranate · 26/02/2023 23:29

Yeah - I'd hardly ever say this but yes too old. But with this one anyone over 35 would be too old, because it looks like some sort of bon bon wrapper, and it is only extreme youth that would allow someone to (sort of) get away with looking like a cracker. Also very high heels are unkind to the appearance of knees (at any age) and better worn with mid length skirts.

Fillybuster · 26/02/2023 23:29

@PyongyangKipperbang go for it! I wore something almost identical for a big event this summer, ar the grand old age of 48.5, and had several strangers complimenting me on my outfit. I felt fantastic, and the photos suggest I looked pretty good. I wore it with flatform sandals, but then I’m not really a “heels” girl - I’m sure you’ll look amazing. Enjoy! And happy birthday 🥳

Appleblum · 26/02/2023 23:30

Love the dress! Shoes look cheap.
