It's not that it's too young , it's that I don't know any 50 year olds that have the legs for that. Even if they are slim and toned, peoples knees start looking different at that age, and personally I wouldn't want to draw attention to that by wearing such a youthful, short outfit, as the juxtaposition flags up the difference.
If it was longer, then maybe, or a different , more grown up shape on the shorts, then possibly ,if your legs are good.
Or if you don't give a damn about not being 100% perfect, and you clearly love the outfit and will probably sparkle in it, then go for it.

We should all not give a damn about not looking 100% perfect regardless of age.
So if you have scars you should cover up?
Princess Eugenie shouldn't have worn the wedding dress showing surgery scars? If you were born with wonky knees etc you should stay covered, even at 18?
There's some really messed up thinking on this thread. As for the outfit only suiting slender/toned people. I'm sorry but I know very curvy black women who rock things like this. Growing up I was always made to feel fat because I had a big arse and thighs. The best thing to happen was for black women, who have amazing body confidence, to not gaf and wear whatever they wanted to. It's time that age restrictions were broken down.

Yankydoodledandy · 26/02/2023 22:34

Absolutely yes it's gorgeous wear it and have a fabulous time

Have you seen Tess Daly’s legs? Perfectly
possible to still have good knees over 50!

Posyapocalypse · 26/02/2023 22:35

If you feel great in it then you should absolutely wear it. It’s your party, your birthday and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t wear something you love. I think I’d not match the shoes with it but again, if you love how it all looks that’s fine. Have a brilliant time.

Tiddler39 · 26/02/2023 22:40

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/02/2023 21:30

The shoes.....I'll be fine I wear shoes like that all the time.

And how is there too much on show? It would literally be legs (and not as much as the model, it is lower down the leg as I am much shorter than her) and I have no boobs to be falling out all over the place.

Explain "Tarty" please.

It won’t look ‘tarty’ because of your build.

I’m the same height as you (but size 6) and things that would look ‘tarty’ on someone with boobs and curves doesn’t tend to on our size because - as you rightly pointed out - there’s nothing to fall out!

So I think you’ll actually look v. classy.

Just don’t wear ankle boots!!

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/02/2023 21:04

Should add...being taken to a posh cocktails/champagne bar....would be completely appropriate for a 30 year old in this place.

Thing is, I love it, I love how it looks and its really comfortable but am I too old?

If you feel good in it then wear it and have a fab time! Age is just a number and life is too short to worry about what other people think, so go and enjoy yourself.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 26/02/2023 22:42

I think it’s lovely! And no problem wearing it at 50.

I don’t think I’d choose those shoes though. Not sure what o would choose but would go for that shape or colour. Maybe something more stroppy?

RJnomore1 · 26/02/2023 22:44

It’s amazing and you will
look tremendous in it lovely x

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 26/02/2023 22:45

I love it but I'd prob choose a strappy heel Too much silver otherwise

RJnomore1 · 26/02/2023 22:47

FrostyFifi · 26/02/2023 22:49

@DelphiniumBlue maybe you don't know any 50 year olds that lift then?
You should see the legs and bodies of the women in my lifting fb group. Like Michelangelo sculpted them.

EmmaEmerald · 26/02/2023 22:50

I love the playsuit.

Forfrigz · 26/02/2023 22:51

Actually, on big occasions like a 50th birthday I think it's better to go louder and brighter, I'm all.for it OP. Have a wonderful time and happy birthday!

namechangetheworld · 26/02/2023 22:52

I think it looks a bit try-hard and classless for a fifty year old, to be frank. There are much more tasteful outfits out there that can still be 'sexy', if that's what you're going for.

JackiePlace · 26/02/2023 22:58

Wear whatever you like, but at "your age" you should be treating your feet better than those shoes. At any age, in fact!
Anyone who says those are comfortable is lying!

RemoteControlDoobry · 26/02/2023 22:59

DiddyHeck · 26/02/2023 21:44

I just can't imagine that looking good on anyone over about 35 to be honest and I hate the fact I'm saying this, because I always tell people age shouldn't be a barrier to anything really.

But (and I say this as someone in my early 50s and a size 10) muscle definition tends to decrease with age, especially in the legs and I just can't imagine it looking good.

But if you think you do and as long as you feel good, then go for it.

Happy Birthday and have a lovely evening OP Flowers Wine

Speak for yourself! I’m 50 and have great muscle tone. It’s a fabulous outfit!

zurala · 26/02/2023 22:59

I love it!

Hate the shoes though, the style is very dated and I wouldn't wear silver shoes with the playsuit, I'd go for a bright colour. I'm 48 so a similar age.

coconotgrove · 26/02/2023 23:01

The shoes are dreadful, some Zara Amina Muaddi-a-likes would be better, or if the budget allows, some actual Amina Muaddi shoes.

The sequin whatnot is fabulous - have a wonderful 50th!

WholeLottaRoland · 26/02/2023 23:03

How's the fit? I'm tempted to get one myself (I'm 52 in a minute). I'm a bit shorter than you though! And don't own anything Karen Millen to compare. Love the playsuit! Shoes are also pretty but I'd agree that something contrasting might be better? Happy Birthday 🍾🎂

Astrabees · 26/02/2023 23:03

The play suit is amazing, go for it. You have my admiration already but if you really can wear shoes like that without it hurting it is doubled!

Sorrynotsorry2 · 26/02/2023 23:04

Size 8 5.5 in height and turning 50 ... you will look fabulous . Otherwise I would suggest ginger spice's Union flag dress with platform heels 👠 go for it be proud and post photos 🥰

FrostyFifi · 26/02/2023 23:05

Mrs you need to start lifting. Not only will your muscle tone return with a vengeance and look amazing, but you'll future-proof yourself for old age.

holierthanthou73 · 26/02/2023 23:05

You’re only 50 of course you should wear it! Ignore the miserable lot on here life is too bloody short.

Octomingo · 26/02/2023 23:08

If you're 50 and slim, then no problem. Personally, I think 25 and overweight would look worse.
prepares to be flamed for body shaming. But you know I'm right.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/02/2023 23:08

Lots of suggestions of chunky heels....but a) I hate them and b) I think that they would make me look too "Look at me I am trying to pretend I am 25" than the shoes I actually like. Maybe they do age me, but I will be 50 so.....??
