Im 42 and a similar size and I would wear it. Definitely not with those shoes though. Id wear smartish trainers.

peskypanda · 02/03/2023 04:48

Absolutely go for it!!

My mum is late 50's, same stats as you and still wears things like this. She's confident and stylish and I love her for it.

Yes yes yes wear it please. I’m exactly what I’m looking for to wear to a ball later in year so also thanks for the suggestion too.
the shoes are horrid though. Rethink the shoes.
absolutely go for the playsuit and be proud of being 50 and not having become a lard arse. I love being in my 40s and slim when all around me people have chn, get older, eat shit and get fat!

Yikes Kenny. Bit harsh.

OP, I am team playsuit with the heeled shoe.

I think wearing that with trainers would ruin the outfit. Some think that trainers go with anything these days, but I don't.

And definitely not leggings. Why would somewhere even consider leggings though ?

But the pink outfit linked upthread. 😍

Fancysauce · 02/03/2023 06:26

What's all this nonsense about having "good legs" and you mustn't have wrinkly knees. Why the fuck not? How many times have you been out for dinner and seen a fabulously dressed woman and thought "wow her knees are really wrinkly" . It wouldn't even cross my mind. Don't worry about what other people think op. If it makes you feel good, wear it. So what if some random stranger thinks you haven't got the legs for it? Fuck em!

Fancysauce · 02/03/2023 06:29

Still laughing at the suggestion of leggings under that playsuit. I mean wtf?

Very curious to see what those people who think she's too old and tacky for that dress would choose for the op. Probably a boden twinset.

Goodness. I'm a size 6/8 at 53, but if I had to scrape the barrel of my 'achievements' to come up with that as something to be proud of, I'd consider my life had been a bit of a failure to be honest.

Axahooxa · 01/03/2023 21:19

People seem really surprised that a 50yo can get into a size 8, is it a given that we're gonna get fat as we age?

Not a given exactly, but fairly likely to put on weight and harder to lose it. Body shape often changes during perimenopause.

Ugh menopause terrifies me

Plugs7 · 02/03/2023 08:28

You do You, girl. Beautiful at any age and if it makes you feel good, u done up like a kipper

Dymaxion · 02/03/2023 08:46

It’s actually quite liberating!

The physical symptoms of peri are a bit grim but the way one’s ability to give a fuck, especially giving a fuck about being liked by men, is kinda glorious!

barmycatmum · 02/03/2023 09:06

No, you’re not too old. This is what I wore for my 50th a few weeks ago, though, so people might think I’m not qualified to say :-P

but really, who cares? Who gets to decide what’s right and fun for you? Nobody but you. Have a good time, and happy birthday!

to wear this for my 50th?

Why mention it then 🤣🤣🤣🤣

QuitsAmidCrisis · 02/03/2023 10:32

Lovely! I am in my fifties. I wear miniskirts with tights because they really suit me. I have good style and confidence. Sounds like you do too. I think people thinks 50 is much older than the reality. Enjoy!

ShirleyPhallus · 02/03/2023 10:25

Because had I not it would no doubt be assumed that my comments were rooted in jealousy of slim people, that I was 'bitter', 'personally offended', 'defensive' and all the other tedious clichés levelled at people who challenge nastiness from others.

phoenixrosehere · 02/03/2023 10:41

I love it!

Doesn’t matter your age. Reading some comments, I’m grateful I grew up in a culture with aunts and older female cousins who wore what they wanted at whatever age and no one would have the nerve to tell them what they can and can’t wear.

Grayson1234 · 02/03/2023 18:13

It's bloody gorgeous and you can even wear black shoes and bag go girl

petmad · 02/03/2023 19:10

Nonsense. I am the same shape and size (aged 51) as I was at 18 (very slim and 7.5 stone, fwiw). The main reason people become fatter at any age is that they eat too much and don't move enough. Quite a lot of women use menopause as an excuse to expand, though.

Despite having the legs for it, I wouldn't wear that outfit because it's a bit tacky.

Chooksnroses · 02/03/2023 19:53

If you don't care what people think, go for it.

Octopus45 · 02/03/2023 21:19

I love the playsuit, you should wear it and be proud. Couldn't wear the shoes personally cause they would kill my feet, but go for it.

Re rules, I'm 48 and the same height as you, a bit bigger unfortunately 10/12,but still wear short skirts and dresses.

PleaseStopSayingHuBbY · 02/03/2023 21:41

I love it and think you'll look fabulous. Wish I had the height/figure to get away with it too.
Hope you have a great party 🥳 🎉
