Definitely OP. I turned 50 and worn a short black/gold dress. Life is to short. I love the dress, go for it. Like the shoes too. I bet you will look stunning. X

Wantanytoastwiththat · 28/02/2023 14:54

Happy 50th Birthday x

Alargeoneplease89 · 28/02/2023 14:57

Did you wear it in the end? Honestly if you want to wear it... do! I'm sure you will look fab!

winelove · 28/02/2023 14:57

Just go for it! Fuck anyone who says it is too old/tarty/too young.
Not keen on the shoes but would wear the red ones with it (though might look a bit christmassy). Maybe a different coloured handbag, go wild with that.
Looking forward to the photo.

Sophie89j · 28/02/2023 20:53

Yes to the yes! I’m sure you’ll look amazing! No to the shoes, but too much like the dress I think. You’ll look like a Christmas bauble with both. Maybe some black heels or boots, depending on the season. If you want to go glittery similar black shoes to the ones you’ve picked would be nice.

Sophie89j · 28/02/2023 20:54

Also like to add maybe matching shoes to bag?

Mummadeze · 28/02/2023 21:05

I am late 40s and wore something similar with hot pink heels and they really looked great with the silver. Enjoy your night out :)

Mojoj · 28/02/2023 21:25

Absolutely!!!

RosyDawn · 28/02/2023 21:32

Def not too old for it, if you love it, wear it.

May I also introduce you to Rosa Bloom who does amazing sequinned things in case you feel a jumpsuit or cape may be next www.rosabloom.com

fishonabicycle · 28/02/2023 21:37

Jump suit is fab, and if you feel good in it - do it! I'd wear it (and I'm 57), but not keen on those shoes, but again - wear what makes you feel good!

PyongyangKipperbang · 28/02/2023 23:01

THanks all

Birthday is not for a few weeks yet so havent made the final decison but we are holding a "Eurovision Poker Night" that is, a poker night on Eurovision night so if I dont wear it for my birthday I will DEFINITELY wear it for that! Sparkly as a Christmas bauble is perfectly acceptable for Eurovision imo!

It stays. I like the shoes, they are staying but I am open minded about different shoes with the playsuit. I really HATE chunky heels, so that isnt happening but maybe shoe boots......we shall see what my really rather amazing sister comes up with!

When I can I will post a photo, Dsis and I have both had lots of work on etc so havent been able to catch up in person but hopefully will soon.

OMG @RosyDawn !!!

The Aphrodite jumpsuit is the one in the Sophie Ellis Bextor vid for Crying at the Discotheque!!! I adore that jumpsuit and I have wanted one since I first saw the video! Shame its far too much money for me to justify it.......kind of wish I had never seen it now Sad

Definitely not too old, if you feel amazing in it, you'll look amazing in it. Personal opinion but I would go with different shoes, similar style but not sparkly so you can let that outline shine 🙂

Springpetal · 01/03/2023 16:57

Screams Christmas to me
could see an 8 year old in something similar

AllOfThemWitches · 01/03/2023 17:27

No need to wonder why a 'should I wear this' thread has attracted hundreds of comments. People are dicks.

YMZ · 01/03/2023 18:03

Go for it girl! Both look fab so if you can pull it off no reason not to wear what you like!

YMZ · 01/03/2023 18:04

Harsh!

JFM27 · 01/03/2023 18:13

You are a size 8 so id say if you feel happy wearing it y our choice, As a size 6 quite bit older than you and far more petite no i wouldnt have when your age but probably only because im 4 11. Im a retiree i wear pleather trousers, and shrts trendy trainers and other items some women of my age wouldnt wear but ive stayed size 6 all life, and im told i look younger than my age so i wear what i want ive friends who do same, age appropriate dressing is over im glad to say.

MrsSlocombesCat · 01/03/2023 18:16

If you’ve got the legs go for it!

anon666 · 01/03/2023 18:21

Go for it.

One thing I've learned with age is "Now or never!!"

bpirockin · 01/03/2023 18:27

I was getting frustrated as I was unable to get to the picture of your chosen shoes and was wondering what people weren't so keen on. Well now I know, and IMHO they are utterly fabulous. I'm not really into metallics, but do love the cute playsuit, and can't imagine anything better to go with it. If you have the figure for it and feel good in it then who cares how old you are? Sod 'em, whoever they are!

HarrietPoole · 01/03/2023 18:31

If you can carry it off and you love it then wear it - I would. Have a fabulous time and happy birthday 🥳

Back21970 · 01/03/2023 18:55

I would wear it with ankle boots, not chunky ones though.

Not a fan of those type of shoes in general (just as well as I’d have trouble walking in them anyway!)

Enjoy your birthday- I think you’ll look great - it’s perfect for Eurovision night too.

I reckon most women at 50 would kill to fit into something like that so go for it!

Please post a photo when you do wear it😀
