Keep ginger in the freezer and grate off what you need - no peeling required.

quirkychick · 24/02/2023 14:47

@Lizsmum ginger root in the freezer is brilliant, I agree.

thisisasurvivor · 28/02/2023 08:14

Keep cheap toothbrushes upstairs and downstairs for days when you are rushing and kids need to get out fast

In our house everything has a place and you minimise your time by moving stuff near to it
so anything that needs to go upstairs goes on a table in the hallway and the next person going up takes it up, same with recycling, putting coats away etc
I hate cleaning but everyone always thinks my house is clean because it’s very tidy!

frostyfeb · 28/02/2023 14:38

@whyhere any recommendations for bank accounts that allow you to put things into pots ?

TallulahBetty · 28/02/2023 14:43

Pile of things that need to go upstairs, at the bottom of the stairs (and vice versa). No one goes up to down without taking at least one item.

Anything that needs urgent/regular/easy access gets stuck to the fridge. We HAVE to walk past the fridge to get into the kitchen.

Colour-codes tags on the mass of charging cables - red for iphone, green for android, blue for generic, etc

I think most of them offer it now, but I like Monzo for ease of use.

I make myself a strong G&T when DH is bathing DC.

My kind of life hack

LindorDoubleChoc · 28/02/2023 20:02

Every night before I go to bed and am getting my glass of water, I open my washing machine door and the power drawer fully. Prevents mould and smells.

Love this one! Must start doing it..

DancingDaughter50 · 28/02/2023 21:42

@quirkychick.. Mind blown.

Sharpie in fridge door for jars!! That's amazing 😂 so simple.

Thank you.

Porridgeislife · 28/02/2023 21:52

Use Pyrex glass baking dishes wherever possible in preference to non stick. They go in the dishwasher, wash up beautifully and don’t need greasing.

@frostyfeb Starling bank is brilliant! I have loads of pots and you can customise them with pictures of photos and add goals etc - really motivating for savings goals

thisisasurvivor · 28/02/2023 23:26

So so useful

Thank you

@DancingDaughter50 dp actually should take credit for that one. He's very organised!

Wakemeup17 · 01/03/2023 08:59

I thought everybody cried in the shower or in the car on the way to work (my commute is 30mins, I can cry, put the make up on and still be on time for 9:30 team meetings).

BlackForestCake · 02/03/2023 15:46

Ginger doesn't need peeled at all, once it's in the dish you don't notice the skin.

Moonshine5 · 02/03/2023 18:56

@Wakemeup17 💓

Moonshine5 · 02/03/2023 18:57

Sending hugs

Reusable sanitary products. I never run out. I got mine from Etsy and they are so pretty!

An upstairs/downstairs basket. When i tidy I fill it with downstairs crap and take it upstairs to tidy away. Then I fill the basket up again and bring it downstairs and empty it!

The NHS Squeezy App for pelvic floor muscles.

A bargain at £1.99

Been using it 4 weeks and the difference when I sneeze is remarkable lol

ScottBakula · 04/03/2023 11:31

@RiverRock22 can you post a link please

zingally · 04/03/2023 12:27

One that has come through for us time and time again is keeping a ziploc bag of plastic drinking straws in the car. Perfect for impromptu milkshakes/cokes etc. Because those paper straws are cack.

Another one is keeping a pot of 50ps or £1. Perfect for all those random "need to bring in a pound" days at school.

Sorry I can't post link as it is on the app store but if you search 'Squeezy it'll come up as 'squeezy nhs pelvic floor app'.

It's a blue background with a lady crossing her legs.

I have it scheduled for 3 times a day and it takes about 3 mins each time. It has a great graphic when to hold and then release. I honestly notice the difference.
