Don't faff about with the little pots, just squish the ketchup straight onto your fries from the dispenser at McDonald's.

NEmama · 21/02/2023 19:28

@thisisasurvivor I'd guess to feel organised so not rushing

Take pics of leaflets, ads or cards you want to refer back to. Same with those evri slips etc. I know I'm going to lose them.

Bulk buy toilet roll from who gives a crap.

PetitPorpoise · 21/02/2023 19:55

If i am in a rush, i tie a knot in clothes that need to go in the bin because of holes or bad stains. Saves them accidentally getting washed and put away again.

NotAnotherBathBomb · 21/02/2023 20:00

Oh god I tried that with the birthday cards. Then when the birthdays came round I couldn't remember where I'd stashed them Confused

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 21/02/2023 18:13

I do my crying in the shower so nobody sees me.

Also batch cooking.

I thought we were all crying in the supermarket car park? Didn't we all agree that a while back?

coodawoodashooda · 21/02/2023 20:12

Get a jar of change for school nonsense.

sweatervest · 21/02/2023 20:17

melt leftover candles and make a new one
make ginger shots (thank you, tiktok)
buy yellow sticker meat, decant it. freeze it. defrost when you need it. it's a russian roulette of meat as i never can remember what i've bought and it all looks the same. could it be a fishcake or chicken kiev?

watch tv in bed.
get your kids to take the bins out
go to bed early
have an easter egg for pudding

Mercedesbenz2022 · 21/02/2023 20:24

Teach your children to do little jobs age dependent , putting linen in basket , dusting , etc
have a mad half hr where everyone does house work for half hr , set a timer . My children loved this

Babamamananarama · 21/02/2023 20:33

When I am hanging clothes on the airer, I sort by person as I'm hanging them up and try to keep all the clothes of one person together. That way when I'm taking them off I can quickly bundle eg all DD's underwear and socks together, and layer the clothes in the washing basket by person waiting to go into their rooms and away.

I do the same at the supermarket: out of the trolley, as you are usually waiting a bit, sort onto the conveyor belt according to where it needs to go in the kitchen eg all the pantry stuff together, all the fridge stuff together. Then you can pack bags efficiently and unpack easily when you get home.

Galwaygirl · 21/02/2023 20:39

thisisasurvivor · 21/02/2023 19:26

To work out ? Sort stuff out?

Not work out! I make the beds, put on a wash, do a quick reset of kitchen before work, makes it easier when I get home! The half an hour was spent scrolling on my phone before so now I feel more productive!

Emptycrackedcup · 21/02/2023 20:42

Stay single!! 😁

PuttingDownRoots · 21/02/2023 20:44

A few months ago we mounted a mirror by the front door. There's also a shelf for hairbrushes, a pot of hair bands and hooks for school ties/scout neckers.

Great for last minute tidy ups as we leave the house.

In a more general sense... have a designigated place for everything.

TitsHerbert · 21/02/2023 20:47

When loading dishwasher, separate knives forks spoons into their own compartments in the cutlery caddy. When wash is finished lift the whole caddy out and pop them into their respective places in cutlery drawer. Saves a bit of time. Got this great tip from MN years ago

LindorDoubleChoc · 21/02/2023 20:53

Yabu.

twinmum2007 · 21/02/2023 20:54

Fold duvet covers and then place with the matching sheets inside the matching pillowcases so when you go to the airing cupboard it's all.together.

QuestionsFromThePublic · 21/02/2023 20:57

We use an eCalendar if appt is is not there, it doesn't happen. We have a shared online shopping lists with days of the week and meal ideas at the top.

I use Borrow Box app for free audios books. All you need is your library card number and you are good to go. Your local authority might use Libby, another free library app.

Keep folders on your phone for social media apps Detox and stop using them before you go to bed. You won't lose time on nonsense.

DC take it in turns to empty the dishwasher or clean the bath. DP changes the bed. Outsource jobs you hate to your loved ones.

nicknamehelp · 21/02/2023 20:57

Have a weekly planner on fridge (wipeable white board) on it note ALL activities, evening meal and anything else important like medicine order. Supermarket delivery book slot and as finish something/think we need put it in basket.
School reply slips fill in straight away and keep letter with details in a set place (like notice board).

ScottBakula · 21/02/2023 21:05

I have a wipe clean magnetic board on my fridge door for shopping list. While cooking I make a note of anything I am running short of , I don't need it for things like bread , eggs cat food etc as I buy them all the time do don't forget them , but things like herbs , spices , bin bags , frozen veg etc it's very useful.
It's also handy when someone phones you and you need to make a quick note but can't find a pen or paper

Set up coffee pot at night so I can just turn it on in the morning.

Carry a tiny 1st aid kit. Mine is in a very old tobacco tin .
Pain killers
Antiseptic cream
Half a doz plasters
Bonjela
very sharp scissors
Tampon
Sani pad ( for its obvious use and can be used as a emergency dressing on a bad cut )
Sanitising wipes
Pair of disposable gloves

Always carry a small pad and pen too.

Spare baby bottle in the car for the days when I leave without one

And some nappies in a range of places for the odd time we run out then see that there are more in other places

Large tubs of sudocream decanted upstairs and downstairs way cheaper

Hmmm my ideas are really quite duhhhhh
