Been TTC for two years. No pregnancy at all. Been medically checked and all ok. Have children already so I know that I can get pregnant. Planned to have one more and was fairly relaxed about it although I had recurrent miscarriage previously but now I’m so fed up! I know I’m so so lucky to have DC already and I think I’ve become a bit obsessed with wanting a third DC.
Any tips to try?! I’m willing to try any weird and wonderful tips to help!! X

Your husband needs a sperm test. You may find the problem is with him.

DS3 was conceived in the first month of trying, at the age of 38. I took Conceive Plus vitamins, a myo-inositol supplement, Equazen Mumomega and ubiquinol for 3 months prior. I take magnesium and a multivitamin anyway, and I probably went a tiny bit overboard!

I can't say for sure if any of it helped, but I've also had multiple miscarriages/chemical pregnancies. I also recommend 'It Starts With The Egg' and 'The Impatient Woman's Guide To Getting Pregnant'.

Good luck!

No advice as such as I have been ttc for two years and nothing but I’m much older at 45. Whoever said about the female orgasm - absolutely this! it has been proved to be effective and I’m sure this helped with my first 2! Good luck!

We tried 2.5 years for #1 (I'm 9 weeks now) and the only thing we did differently the time we caught was we DTD EOD as we did before, but on the days between did turkey baster style method using a needless syringe. No idea if it was causation or just correlation though 🤣

I swear by COQ10, took us 15 months to get pregnant with DC1 - took the coq10 and was pregnant within the second month after starting this. Restarted the coq10 when trying conceive dc2 and fell pregnant within the first month. Maybe a coincidence so who knows. Helped with energy levels too!

hekissedmybottom · 19/02/2023 12:04

Both times I got pregnant I was taking the pill and missed a day or took it late.

maryofthevirginkind · 19/02/2023 12:09

Try having sex in the middle of the night. Friend having problems was told that she ovulated middle of night by doctor so she tried it, had a boy. Good luck.

Hesma · 19/02/2023 12:24

Your AIBU is…???

Hrf1503 · 19/02/2023 12:30

Have you tried monitoring your basal body temperature and using opks using an app like Natural Cycles. And pay attention to your cervical mucus. I used NCs had sex every day for 5/6 days running up to and over ovulation… not very sexy but it worked for us.

I’ve also heard incredible things about acupuncture (I’ve not using it for fertility but it cured my sciatica). Look up hannahpearn on Instagram who helps women ttc.

Good luck and no need to apologise for having children already, it doesn’t minimise how you’re feeling.

BlueberryBuffin · 19/02/2023 12:33

Reflexology and/or acupuncture

Progesterone supplement - natural progesterone from Amazon #imnotadoctor

Sparklesandsunshine1 · 19/02/2023 12:35

accupuncture with a fertility trained acupuncturist I had after a loss / while trying and during pregnancy

Are you suggesting that she tries this?
In all honesty, I don't think it's great advice for someone trying to conceive.

Buttercup2023 · 19/02/2023 12:40

Evening Primrose Oil - I'm sure this is why it happened for me, the month I took it I had a big increase in EWCM, and conceived that month. Start taking it when your period ends, and then stop taking it when you ovulate (I confirmed this with Clear Blue ovulation tests).

Bensmum1988 · 19/02/2023 13:42

I’m really sorry to hear you’re struggling and hope you get your positive result soon. I know you haven’t mentioned anything about your cycle or lifestyle but, in case it may be of relevance, I found reading ‘No Period. Now What?’ enlightening when trying to conceive as it educated me about how our lifestyle provides the conditions for hormonal function. What was most revelatory for me was how our reproductive system is a “nice to have” rather than a must-have such as brain function and it kind of shuts down, or rather doesn’t function optimally, under stress. Perhaps obvious to some but not to me.

I had my period but it was always light and my cycle was variable in length. I was very slim, ate ‘clean’ with plenty of fruit and vegetables and loved exercise. I thought my lifestyle was exemplary and would help me conceive easily. I realised my body was actually under stress from the excessive exercise I thought was doing it good, as well as the very low-fat diet I thought was nourishing it. Reading the book was a lightbulb moment for me and I immediately made some changes. I stopped my gym workouts and walked and did very gentle yoga a couple of times a week instead, stopped calorie-counting and ate wholesome foods I previously saw as treats: real butter, full-fat milk, pasta with creamy sauces, bread… The book also taught me about the role carbs play so I stopped demonising them and enjoyed white and wholegrain bread etc. as part of a truly balanced diet.

It might be something worth considering if you (or anyone reading this) have a similar lifestyle to the one I had and you have ruled out anything else with a medical professional that may be delaying conception. I understand it’s not as simple as “just relaxing” and changing your lifestyle for so many (and I hope it doesn’t come across that way). I hope anyone struggling to conceive has some hope soon.

Ratatatatatouille · 19/02/2023 13:47

Are you overweight? Good diet, active lifestyle? No drinking / smoking / other? Had bloods to check no nutritional deficiencies?

Ratatatatatouille · 19/02/2023 13:47

Or underweight come to mention it.

gogohmm · 19/02/2023 13:50

My friend conceived about 6 months after they gave up hope of having children and a month after booking a dream trip involving giving up their jobs and travelling for a year! Needless to say they cancelled the trip and kept their jobs.

Not putting yourself under pressure, not trying to second guess when you are fertile etc seems to work for many people, just enjoy each other and have regular sex

Sharkpenis · 19/02/2023 14:00

Smileymoon1 · 19/02/2023 09:01

Did you use a special kit for this? X

No, just bought a syringe and speculum.

Opks said when i was most fertile and then my XH squirted his collected gloop just inside my cervix. Then used a sex toy to have an orgasm to help the stuff get to the uterus. It worked first time after 18months of trying with xh's low quality sperm. The month before we were told we would need IVF to conceive

RiverSkater · 19/02/2023 17:09

I read somewhere older sperm have a better chance with the egg so when you are ovulating some older sperm should be ready....

Cosmos123 · 19/02/2023 17:31

Ovulation tests

Reflexology

Eating lots of yam.

sarahb083 · 19/02/2023 20:08

@Smileymoon1 I never got a positive ovulation test either but got pregnant after three months. I don't think the opks work for everyone. I tracked my temperature in the mornings to work out when I ovulated.
