If you can, share your technique.

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm talking about one of these:

I want one too now.

Greenbeanmcgee · 17/02/2023 10:24

I eat the custard with a teaspoon.

Comedycook · 17/02/2023 10:25

Turn it on its side...still messy but less so

Comedycook · 17/02/2023 10:25

And use a cake fork

faffadoodledo · 17/02/2023 10:25

Sideways and open wide

Reallybadidea · 17/02/2023 10:25

Slice in half horizontally. Eat each half separately, saving the icing half until last of course.

Fairislefandango · 17/02/2023 10:26

Well, you can... you can turn it on its side (so that cutting doesn't squish it) and cut into bite-sized slices and pop them in your mouth. But where's the fun in that?Grin

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 17/02/2023 10:26

I usually take off the top. Eat the custard with the bottom best I can, custard squirting everywhere, and save the iced bit for last as best. Yes it makes a mess.

Moonlightsonatas · 17/02/2023 10:26

Eat the layers off separately, start from the bottom then you get the finish with the icing layer 😃

Greenbeanmcgee · 17/02/2023 10:26

I'm going to have to go buy one now.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 17/02/2023 10:31

Heard a podcast this week where someone had to eat messy food in the garden naked (as a child). I take the same approach with custard slices.

SaltnPeppaPig · 17/02/2023 10:34

I have never thought of turning it on its side, genius!

I don't like having the icing layer without a bit of custard.

@BellaTheDarkOverlord @Moonlightsonatas finally I have found my people

OneTC · 17/02/2023 10:37

Yeah I eat them on their side too. Grin

gonna go get one now

Mum1976Mum · 17/02/2023 10:38

I am an expert In there as I have too many from Greggs. If you try to bite both pastry layers together it squashes together and the custard squishes out. Only bite 1 layer and some custard in a bite. Take a bite from bottom layer then top and repeat. It doesn’t squash the custard then.

Mum1976Mum · 17/02/2023 10:39

I can also recommend the Bavarian slice from Greggs. It is superior to the custard slice as it has a layer of jam as well!

This. Best way to eat it, and no mess!

This.

BoredBetsy · 17/02/2023 10:40

Take the top off and put it underneath. Then you have custard on the top and a double layer underneath. All the pleasure and none of the mess.

arghtriffid · 17/02/2023 10:40

First take off the top layer and eat with your fingers. Next use a cake fork to tackle the rest - same technique for cream slices

caramac04 · 17/02/2023 10:41

faffadoodledo · 17/02/2023 10:25

Sideways and open wide

😂😂😂. That’d do it!

arghtriffid · 17/02/2023 10:41

Yes! Wow! :)

Flowerfairy101 · 17/02/2023 10:41

Spoon and a bowl! Same for those lovely cream and jam iced ones.

JMSA · 17/02/2023 10:43

I eat the top layer, then lick out the custardy middle layer, and finish by eating the base.
I only ever eat them at home. On my own. Blush

How did I not know these existed?!
