Passport office nightmare for DD 10

Trying to renew my DD10’s passport. We sent her last passport and obviously she looks different- the first 3 pics we sent were rejected. We got it countersigned by someone who has known her since she was born. Then they asked for her birth certificate which we have sent by registered post.

Now they are saying that’s not enough either? Aibu to think what the hell else are we meant to send? They want more ID but we don’t have anything else as shes 10 and they her birth certificate 🤷🏻‍♀️

What do people send?!

Does their letter/ email not suggest any forms of ID?

How odd. I renewed one passport last year no issues. Doing my oldest this month and they've just asked for birth certificate, this is the 3rd child renewal and first time it's been requested so I don't know what's going on. Like you if this isn't enough we have nothing else to offer as it's a 10 year old!

That's weird - has she really drastically changed since she was 5? And if you've sent everything you have, what more do they suggest? With a 10-year-old DC it's not like they have lots of pieces of ID!

I can see us having to take her up there! It just seems a lack of sense -a child isn’t going to have multiple forms of ID!

@maranella yes indeed- I mean she looks a older & her hair is longer but she doesn’t look totally different

I have renewed DC11 last year and we only sent her old passport. I can't think of any other ID you can have apart from old passport and birth certificate. If it's a first passport, then you have to send something to confirm one of the parent's british citizenship. But this is a renewal. So I have no idea what you are meant to do.

I'd find a number for them and call OP or you're not going to make any progress. Maybe offer to send them one photo per year from age 5-10 to show her aging and changing in appearance? I find it weird that a DC has changed so much in five years though that she is completely unrecognisable as the earlier DC.

People saying give them a call, you cannot ring them. I had to wait in an hour long queue for a web chat as soon as it opened one day. OP you could try asking at the Post Office, they may know what needs to be done. Good luck, it’s again a nightmare getting passports now.

They don't need anything else. Think you must have some sort of idiot dealing with the application tbh. A renewal needs the old passport and a countersignature and nothing else. Can you raise a complaint about it?

@Cosyblankets yes- saying send more ID - unless they have lost her birth cert but we sent it signed for & tracked & it’s been signed for!!

I called them last week? Took about five minutes to get through. Wasn't for me, I was sent the form to confirm someone else's ID and it wasn't working. I'll try and find which number I called
