So scared right now and don't know what to do. Had heartburn feeling all night and tickly throat and kept dry heaving. I've also had runny stools (sorry if TMI), don't know if they are connected.

However just been sick bright red blood Sad

Wtf do I? I didn't feel unwell or anything, just the heartburn but seeing the blood has scared me

Glad you’re getting checked over.
as other posters have said it could be something simple that is causing it so try not to panic too much yet.

Jaxinthebox · 09/02/2023 07:35

I hope you are ok @redfob

redfob · 09/02/2023 07:45

I'm home now. I've been given antibiotics for my throat and am being referred to a throat specialist as I've been having problems with my tonsils on and off for a while now. I've also got to have a camera down to look at my stomach at some point to rule anything out any issues there.

Thanks everyone for the support Flowers

Good outcome. Now, off to bed, you must be exhausted.

Aldisfinest · 09/02/2023 08:00

Well done for going to a&e OP. Sure all is fine!

BrutusMcDogface · 09/02/2023 08:06

That’s good news, @redfob . Hopefully that will solve it. I hope you have a day off today!! 💐

RTFT

OP called 111 who ordered the ambulance then changed their mind and sent a taxi.

Maybe RTFT before hoiking your judgy pants?

Dibbydoos · 09/02/2023 08:17

I'd go to A and E.
Losing blood from the mouth or back end is an emergency.

No its not. Not always -depends on what's causing it obviously.

You are always such a spiteful poster. But apparently one that can’t read. She rang 111, then called an ambulance, then downgraded it to a taxi.

makingarunforit · 09/02/2023 08:41

Just came on here to say yes 999 but noticed it was last night.

Ex-boyfriend had this. Rushed to hospital in ambulance very poorly. Turned out he had an ulcer that had burst. A&E doctor estimated he had lost 5 pints of blood. Body only has 8 pints. Was told that he was very very lucky.

At the time, I just acted. If I'd posted on here people would have said wait until the morning and ring the GP.

Wheresthebeach · 09/02/2023 08:52

Surely, by any standards vomiting blood is an emergency. You can't ignore it and hope it goes away.

I do think this anti going to A&E is odd - its there for us when we need it and its for doctors to assess what's going on. People do die from lack of medical attention, and from ignoring symptoms.

OP - glad you went, glad it seems to have been sorted and hope you're feeling better today. Hopefully you'll get the next hospital appointment pretty soon.

Why on earth would you post something so arsey complaining about OP posting all night without reading what she actually posted? It's like you're putting up a sign proclaiming your laziness and worse.

JessicaFletcherscrewnecksweater · 09/02/2023 09:25

They* called an ambulance.

Tamrastarr · 09/02/2023 09:43

Call 111. Or better still, get yourself to a doctor or hospital. This is one of the symptoms on the 111 checklist that calls for immediate medical treatment

What a horrible comment. She might not have had anyone who could take her! Does that mean she shouldn't be seen?

Salome61 · 09/02/2023 10:41

So glad you were seen OP, best wishes for your recovery. I was worried for you, my Dad had been hiding he'd been vomiting blood, he had a burst duodenal ulcer.

Getamoveon36 · 09/02/2023 10:44

@Bepis no. It means she could have called a cab herself, not expected an ambulance or the nhs to arrange it for her.

What is it with the nasty comments??? She rang 111for advice, and they took it from there. If they thought she should make her own way they would have said so. She didn't twist an ankle FFS she was vomiting blood!

Please explain how OP 'expected' an ambulance or arranged to be arranged?

She called 111 and they responded as they deemed appropriate.

There are some really nasty people on this thread.

Tessisme · 09/02/2023 11:11

How very scary for you OP. I am so glad you got sortedFlowers

I have to say though, I don't think I will ever come on here to ask if I should go to A&E, even if I have no other soul in the world to confide in. The way some posters express themselves is incredibly unhelpful. By all means, advise someone that they might be better doing x, y or z, but there's no need to be aggressive towards someone who is already worried or frightened about what is wrong with them. And the old 'but this is AIBU' won't cut it. It's no excuse for acting subhuman.
