Vomited blood, should I ring 999?

So scared right now and don't know what to do. Had heartburn feeling all night and tickly throat and kept dry heaving. I've also had runny stools (sorry if TMI), don't know if they are connected.

However just been sick bright red blood Sad

Wtf do I? I didn't feel unwell or anything, just the heartburn but seeing the blood has scared me

Good. You are closer to being seen now. Hang in there!

GlamGiraffe · 09/02/2023 02:13

Not 999, just take yourself the in a cab or drive yourself if you can. They can sort out free parking. you don't need an ambulance but do need hospital. They'll see you in the same amount of time. Leave the ambulance for strokes, rtas, trauma calls and cardiacs if at all possible. I learnt this when I had a very serious accident and there were no ambulances for two and a half hours. A bike paramedic and my dad who's a senior first aid specialist were fortunately here within an hour but a but seizures snd a broken neck meaNt all they could do was give drugs and immobiliser. I needed to be in hospitalal fasat. I was paralysed and suffered lack of brain oxygen. Luckily i have telatively normal life now. Please always labe ambulances for times when we can't ĥ get the ourselves or need essential care en route.

I'm at the A&E now, currently waiting for blood tests. The nausea is awful

Try not to worry too much, the nausea your feeling is probably also because you are in shock and are feeling anxious/nervous.

BrutusMcDogface · 09/02/2023 02:23

Oh bless you. I hope you’re ok 💐

Bepis · 09/02/2023 02:51

I suffer with health anxiety too so I know too well the panic you will be feeling right now. And I totally understand why you were hesitant to go to A&E. It's a scary and daunting process.

But like others have said on here, it could be absolutely fine. Do you suffer with heartburn a lot?

Dita73 · 09/02/2023 02:59

It’s probably gastritis but good idea to get it checked

Crumpetdisappointment · 09/02/2023 03:00

it is good that you are in the right place.

redfob · 09/02/2023 00:17

I feel ok now though so I don't want to go A&E right now as I know I'll be waiting hours. Anybody know if it could be heartburn related? Just trying to think of what it could be

Depends how much. I cough up blood sometimes from reflux and ulcers but if it was a lot I'd be at least seeing my GP, if not A&E, depending on others symptoms at the time. I wouldn't phone emergency services though, it doesn't really warrant an ambulance.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/02/2023 03:14

Daft Q, but you're not pregnant are you?
You're describing pretty much exactly how I was, early in both my pregnancies. Threw up fresh blood, terrible nausea, overwhelming tiredness.

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 09/02/2023 03:19

redfob · 09/02/2023 01:36

@Dartmoorcheffy a triage nurse called and said she didn't think it would warrant an ambulance so they've sent a taxi instead as I can't get there any other way, didn't even know this was a thing tbh

It's great they can do that. I hope you don't have to sit worrying for too long.

I did the same in early pregnancy with all 4 of mine. Usually my first symptom.

redfob · 09/02/2023 03:35

Still waiting for blood results, I'm so tired Sad doctors had a look at my throat and thinks it's my tonsils, said they are bloody and massively inflamed. I had tonsillitis last week but thought I was over the worst of it, didn't think that would have caused the bleeding

fUNNYfACE36 · 09/02/2023 04:17

Was it streaks of blood in your vomit or was your vomit all blood? When you've been sick a lot it's perfectly normal to have streaks of blood

redfob · 09/02/2023 04:22

@fUNNYfACE36 not streaks, proper bright red blood

Sending you lots of love. This is going to be just fine 🧡

CharlotteRose90 · 09/02/2023 04:27

It can be normal to have blood when you’ve got tonsillitis. My ex had it multiple times, when your tonsils are infected you can get ulcers or sores on them that bleed. Hopefully you get it sorted soon.

kateandme · 09/02/2023 05:11

op sounds like this is going to be easily explained.try to take peace from that

2018SoFarSoGreat · 09/02/2023 05:17

Tonsils is a good outcome, OP. Easily fixed and you'll be well again 💐

Panda8383 · 09/02/2023 05:31

Hope you are ok x

harrassedmumto3 · 09/02/2023 05:34

I would. The same thing recently happened to my daughter's boyfriend, and it turns out he had undiagnosed diabetes.

Suzi888 · 09/02/2023 05:37

Try not to panic, I’ve vomited blood- mine seemed to be down to a food allergy/food poisoning. It was horrendous but passed quickly and not occurred since. You’re in the right place.

Anothernightofnosleep · 09/02/2023 05:42

I hope you are ok OP

Tilllly · 09/02/2023 07:21

How are you @redfob ?

FancyFanny · 09/02/2023 07:27

Diarreah, vomiting blood...how is that 'not ill'? Get to A&E
