to wonder about bystanders ( eg during assault on school girl in Ashford)

to wonder about the ethics of being a bystander, and wonder what the bystanders were doing during the appalling assault in Ashford (Surrey) when a schoolgirl was beaten up, the awful video shows a grown woman encouraging primary aged kids to get involved...but there are any number of bystanders including a man in a car, the school principal (at the end) and any number of other school kids including much older looking boys. Wondering if anyone here would have tried to intervene to stop the fight or encouraged their children to intervene in cases like this?

My instinct would be to pull them apart but I would also be scared they had weapons.

I would scream the fucking place down to get other people's attention though. Easier to Wade in with others.

The video is horrific.

Just horrific.

Imagine if that was your child.

I hope those involved get banged up.

It angers me more the fact that the other pupils seemed to get entertainment from watching the girls fight even though I bet those watching will be first to post "black lives matter" and share how awful the fight was etc now it's got so much media support.🤣

I would have waded in effin and jeffin and looking hard (I'm not) that's just how I am. I probably would have got done for assault on one of the women or dragging girls off the poor victim.

I grew up in a very violent lifestyle though. I'm not violent but I can make myself look scary if needs be.

This is no different to training your dog to fight.

That "mother" should have her kids taken off her. Quite worrying that in their community they can raise them to any standards and not be held accountable - its child neglect.

There is no accountability with traveller families. We all tiptoe around the child neglect, animal cruelty and criminal behaviour because if we do dare to raise any questions, we're accused of racism.

I also think people are assuming racism against the back girl, which it could well be, but might not be.

Travellers also suffer from racism and in some circles stories are circulating that the white friend of the black girl had been targeting in of the traveller girls for weeks. There were two girl victims, but the online videos have focused on the back girl.

Obviously none of that justifies the actions of the mob and there is definitely a problem with the lawlessness of some traveller communities, but this might not be what people are assuming.

So the police only mention one girl being attacked but you're saying there were 2? Or are you saying that a friend of the attacked girl was bullying one of the traveller girls?

What 'circles' are saying this?

@cata09x if you're talking about the video being shown by racists to somehow belittle what this girl went through, you're wrong. It isn't a video of her and it isn't a video of kids from the same school.

Whether who was right/wrong/ who caused this and whatnot. What kind of a mother would egg on their 10 year old daughter, and her other children to brutally attack another child?!! The girl in the pink was shocking. I wanted to smack her over the video. What the hell. Only 10 years old and with a mother like that- she has no chance.I hope social services remove all those kids away from that deranged mother.

Christ, l have just watched this horrifying assault, and am even more disgusted by the adults who just stood and watched, and the Head wandering up like it was nothing to do with him.

WTF is WRONG with people, l would have intervened.

The head walked in and stopped the attack. What did you expect him to do, leap in and start punching people? He did well to get there so fast, because this was 100 metres away from the school.

Proof? I didn't say it was fact, only that there's more than one version of this story circulating.

It's not neglect. This is child abuse. Pure and simple. This is no different than abusive parents making their children watch sexual acts on TV. There is one thing telling your child to stand up for themselves in a fight or when they are a target of bullying- but it's entirely different making your children (one after another) encouraging and pushing them to engage in extreme violent acts. I heard the mother in the video kept saying "Go on! Do her one... Kick her there... bash her face in...".

If those teachers were not there to "diffuse" the situation (however that may be) the mother would have continued to tell her girls to beat up the girl until she was dead.

I’m not from or in the UK. How can they be traveller families if they clearly live in the one spot, go to school etc? Surely they should be treated exactly the same as everyone else and those kids should be removed?
