Eating cake in the bath ok but crisps is gross?

Firstly, this is somewhat lighthearted

I enjoy a bath one night every week. It's a night my DH games and as long as both kids aren't ill, I also manage to have a nice relaxing bath. iPad with a good reality tv series, nice drink, long soak and a treat to eat. I usually get myself a yellow sticker item for post dinner yum. Trifle, piece of chocolate cake etc

Last night I was having my nice soak and hadn't picked anything up so I took up some wotsits.

DH sees me go upstairs with it and comments 'you're not having crisps in the bath are you?'.

I explained I hadn't had a chance to pick anything up and he didn't have a problem with my slice of black forest gateaux the week before

Then he sort of screws his nose up and says that cake or a nice dessert is an indulgence in the bath...but crisps is just a bit gross. He couldn't articulate why and admits the old flake advert from the 90s may have influenced his opinion.

So.. AIBU that both are fine to eat in the bath or is there something about some foods that just seem wrong while soaking

Folks, if you are of the anti eating anything in the bath then this is not for you my friends!

I wouldn't eat anything in the bath personally.

But if you're having cake or crisps I can't see how there's any difference between those two things!

I'm going back nearly thirty years now, but my Gran used to live in a ground floor terrace flat with the bathroom accessed via the kitchen. Regulations may have changed since.

Doesn't the liquorice make the water turn black?

This deserved more attention, 🤣🤣

I can't eat in any room that has a toilet in it.

@TheBigWangTheory

Another one! How do you get through life if you can't eat a slice of cake or a pack of crisps without getting it all over yourself? How do you go to restaurants...do yout bring a change of clothes?

Lying in a bath full of water is entirely different to being sat up at a table or in a chair. Where did I say I get food all over myself?

Crisps are greasy and smelly and cakes often fall apart easily and crumbs get everywhere if you aren't eating over a plate. I don't want bits of food in the water.

So my snack of choice in the bath is something that I can leave on the side table and pick up with no mess or fuss. Sweets/chocolate broken into squares.

If your crisps are greasy and smelly you're eating some weird fucking crisps! And of course you have a plate, for your cake.
If you think you can't have a bath and eat without covering yourself in food, there is something very wrong with how you eat food. I eat food in the bath the same way I eat it at a table, i put the food in my mouth, not all over the vicinity.

Why the fuck would have bots of food in the water?

@GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut PP asked how long people spend in the bath - for me it would be 2/3 hours I guess?

3 hours?? Surely it’s just cold water well before that point?

Perhaps for some reason you use a tin bath that needs to be filled from pans heated over a fire, but I have a bath with a tap that gives more hot water at any time!
I know, amazing, right?

I do wonder what planet some of you live on. You can't eat without being covered head to toe in your food, and you don't know how indoor plumbing works.....

@TheBigWangTheory

Why are you so aggressive?

@TheBigWangTheory

Why are you so aggressive?

I'm not.

Why do you call people agressive for no good reason? Kind of a dick move, don't you think?

This is a pretty aggressive reply to general chatter over something so minor.

It's a dick move to reply in such an aggressive way when there was no aggressive shown towards you.
