Every day this week I have been in bed before 8:30.
Tonight I came home from work went out had a couple of wines a kebab and now I am in bed.
It's warm and cosy happy reading my book and mumsnetting but why does it feel so wrong??

Sounds lovely. Enjoy!

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 03/02/2023 20:27

Nooo this is amazing!! Every now and then I decide it's a "bed evening". Straight in the shower and then in to bed. Make a pillow nest, watch YouTube or Netflix or read my book. Eat something that's not too messy to eat in bed. Tea or wine on the go. Heaven.

Mangogogogo · 03/02/2023 20:28

I’m the winter this is me every night. Sometimes there’s a kid in there and sometimes there’s a husband in there. Either way I’m in there!

Ragwort · 03/02/2023 20:28

I think we are conditioned as adults to 'stay up late' .. I am sitting on the sofa drinking wine and mumsnetting .. I would be far more comfortable in bed but it feels like 'the right thing to do'. DH is also sitting up with a glass of wine & scrolling through his phone ... he would also probably prefer to be in his own bed (we don't share Grin). We will probably string it out for an hour, have an aimless conversation about finding something we both want to watch on tv and not find anything, and then head up to our separate rooms ....

ComtesseDeSpair · 03/02/2023 20:28

I do the same sometimes. If you’re reading / watching a movie / listening to a podcast / doomscrolling then it’s really just the same as sitting on the sofa, but cosier.

pinkfondu · 03/02/2023 20:33

Sounds amazing

Passmethecrisps · 03/02/2023 20:36

It is my absolute favourite! The last two nights I have gone to bed at the same time as my children. Tea, hot water bottle (2 last night) and a book. Absolute bliss

FlowerArranger · 03/02/2023 20:38

Sounds lovely.
I think it's called hibernating...

Newlifeintherain · 03/02/2023 20:39

Forgot the hot water bottle.
I treated myself to a long skinny one it's amazing.
Keeps the bed so warm.

We both work full time in demanding jobs.
The house is cleaned each week, the laundry done.
Healthy meals cooked.
It's 8.40
Dh has just fell asleep next to me in bed while I nurse the remains of a glass of red watching Netflix.
The way we see it you work hard your body needs to relax and recharge.

Passmethecrisps · 03/02/2023 20:41

Am actually ever so slightly resentful of husband coming home tonight having been away.

TomatoSandwiches · 03/02/2023 20:41

Sounds lovely, nothing wrong with that at all, make it a new norm.

Oblomov22 · 03/02/2023 20:42

I do it at least once a month. Love it.

garlictwist · 03/02/2023 20:42

In bed too. I'm tired and bored of watching tv downstairs for the sake of it. Will probably go to sleep soon!

Whisper it quietly, but when my dh is away I get to bed about 8! Whole bed to myself, weighted blanket, bloody lovely!

AnyFucker · 03/02/2023 20:43

I regularly go to bed at 9pm. I start getting restless and unable to concentrate. Would rather be cosy under my duvet with my phone, Netflix or a book

doitwithlove · 03/02/2023 20:44

In my world bed at 8.30pm is perfect, I browse social media & mumsnet then fall asleep

romdowa · 03/02/2023 20:44

I'm in bed by half 8 every night. I've a 15 month old and a bad back. By 8.30 I'm done!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/02/2023 20:44

I would ABSOLUTELY do this every night if it wasn't for my family insisting on my company. Bed is the BEST

Mrsjayy · 03/02/2023 20:45

I love my bed especially In winter I'm normally in mine by 9.30

DrManhattan · 03/02/2023 20:45

It's the best

Msgrieves · 03/02/2023 20:46

I don't have a choice, a teeny knackered sofa downstairs and ds2 broke 2 tv's. I long to be a downstairs person lol.

Newlifeintherain · 03/02/2023 20:55

The irony is I really do not sleep well.
But I am amazing at wallowing. Lol
Think the guilt stems from childhood when i was never allowed to stay in bed.
In these times I vote wallowing in bed the way forward.
A bedside lamp, hot water bottle and good book.
DH snoring at the side of me.
Simple pleasures and all that.

Sounds like heaven to me!

JamSandle · 03/02/2023 20:56

It's winter. Hibernate guilt-free.
