Give over.

Male or female it will work.

No one said that it wouldn’t work. Just that it might result in someone being attacked and also that you could get yourself in trouble. Just because it would work doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid idea.

SleepyRich · 01/02/2023 15:23

It's a bit of a weird thing to be worried about isn't it? I mean if you or your children were obviously the main focus that would likely be odd, but if they're just in the background.... Even if you or the children were the main focus/they were a 'candid photographer' so to speak then this would still be lawful in most instances.

Needmorelego · 01/02/2023 15:23

What are they filming? If it's them doing fancy skateboard tricks and there happens to be children in the background then that is different to just filming children playing.

anya21 · 01/02/2023 15:26

Have ypu seen evidence tha theyhave been published. You do not need permission to film or photograph anyone even children, but you do to publish them usuallyT

2bazookas · 01/02/2023 15:34

I'd ask the local police to stop the local youtuber filming kids in the playground .

Foxywood · 01/02/2023 15:39

Is he a parent/ teacher/ local tv news camera man- are the children running around him, is he peering thorugh a hedge, is he posting a live video, is he a known danger to children etc etc etc more info please.

MrsJamin · 01/02/2023 15:04

You absolutely should point it out that none of the children's parents have consent. Really annoys me when you see footage of lots of kids eg at a playground, party or performance and you just know they didn't get parents permission.

They don't need consent.

It's perfectly legal to film and take photographs in public places.

Cocobutt · 01/02/2023 15:44

Can you post a link to the YouTube channel.

DeskChair · 01/02/2023 15:44

What’s their content?

Pinotwoman82 · 01/02/2023 15:45

Is it more that they are filing themselves doing tricks etc and the kids are just in the background?

Pinotwoman82 · 01/02/2023 15:45

Filming

Just loudly sing a copyrighted song with litigious writers every time she's there. And teach the other parents to do the same.

This but play it on your phone

Chikapu · 01/02/2023 15:46

Are you actually going to give any more context?

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 01/02/2023 15:47

2bazookas · 01/02/2023 15:34

I'd ask the local police to stop the local youtuber filming kids in the playground .

You’d waste the polices time to come out over something that isn’t illegal? Rather than remote your children from an entirely legal situation that you don’t like?

OP, of course you are in your right to ask. But they can refuse.

Christmascracker0 · 01/02/2023 15:54

Legal or not, someone filming kids that aren’t their own doesn’t sit well with me. I would ask them to stop.

redpinkyellow · 01/02/2023 15:56

Wonder do you live near me....

It's even just walking around the local shops and with loads of people in his content.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 01/02/2023 15:56

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 01/02/2023 15:07

Shout Nonce Nonce and point at him.

I'd imagine that would deter him

A measured response. :/

WiddlinDiddlin · 01/02/2023 15:58

OP you need to clarify WHAT this person is actually filming, what is shown on their youtube channel, which you surely must know if you know they're a 'known youtuber'.

If they are filming kids, whilst that is not illegal, what they DO with that footage may be.

If they're filming perfectly legitimate stuff and kids happen to be around, tell your kids not to get in shot, its likely they edit out obviously identifiable kids anyway.

fairgame84 · 01/02/2023 15:04

Why is he filming the playground?

Why assume "he"?

LunchBoxPolice · 01/02/2023 15:59

Blippi?

Roundandnour · 01/02/2023 15:59

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/02/2023 15:07

Just loudly sing a copyrighted song with litigious writers every time she's there. And teach the other parents to do the same.

It’s extremely easy to remove specific back ground noises even with free software. A professional YouTuber will probably know how to do this.

Eben without removing any background singing all it needs is a disclaimer on the YouTube video giving credit to who owns the music.

if the original owner doesn’t agree they send a cease and desist as well as letting YouTube know.

Fairyliz · 01/02/2023 15:59

Come back op and give us the relevant information. Are they filming in a park where there just happens to be children playing who may or may not be in the background; or are they deliberately filming children?

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/02/2023 15:59

HiddenGiraffes · 01/02/2023 15:46

Good call.

MittensForKittens123 · 01/02/2023 16:01

Years ago my friend who is a nature photographer was taking picture of a spiders web in a kids playground. He ended up being asked to show his photos to the police as a parent had called them and reported him as appearing to be wearing quick-release trousers - presumably for flashing - he obviously wasn’t, he was wearing normal jeans! I’m guessing the parent just didn’t feel comfortable with him having a camera near a playground. But it has made my friend feel anxious about taking photos where kids are. A shame for him and his art, but probably made the anxious parent feel better.

knittingaddict · 01/02/2023 16:02

So many assumptions on this thread. Man? School playground?

The only youtubers I know in real life are a marrried heterosexual couple and all the ones I watch are women or couples.
