To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

I think his parents have had talent (how much I wouldn't like to say), have seen opportunities as they arose and grasped them, and both have worked to get where they are. VB may run a vanity project now, but she has put a lot of effort into marketing herself as a celebrity, and they both seem to know how to maximise their money - or have the sense to employ good lawyers and accountants to do it for them.

Jamie Oliver's daughter (Daisy) is studying to be a nurse.

2Old2BABPpresenter · 28/01/2023 16:54

Nope don’t feel sorry for him at all. If he wanted he could have trained/studied and got a professional job but he has no drive to do so. I really don’t understand why it’s even an issue.

Have a chicken farm "Chookin",with Brooklyn.

Yes but he would book you onto the wrong flights...you could end up anywhere....I do have knowledge of his academic skills and trust me, he would struggle to spell Airport let alone make a booking etc !!

RecordsTurning · 28/01/2023 16:58

I think it’s a shame people feel the need to take the piss, he’s not done anything wrong. It says more about those people than Brooklyn. I pity the piss takers more.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 28/01/2023 17:00

He does seem pretty dim and I think he married way too soon. 23? He's not lived!

LydiaBin · 28/01/2023 17:00

I suppose it comes down to the sort of adults who are around you growing up. If your parents are famous but you still spend time with your aunt who's a teacher and your uncle who's a policeman, and dad's best mate who's a wholesale vegetable producer and your neighbours who have their own catering business, then those seem like possible career options. But if your parents' best mates are celebrity chefs and celebrity football agents and Eva Longoria and you live in an LA bubble, then I guess that's what you think the world of work looks like. One long selfie.

Maybe he's dyslexic

Maybe he's dyslexic

Im pretty sure that more than one of the children are. One of the parents commented on something not so long ago in the press.

I just went on his IG and I noticed that he has celebrity chefs commenting on his food posts, encouraging him on. When you have Nobu in your comments syaing Well done and what not, it is just a different world. He clearly has been working on his knife skills so maybe he is taking a class or has a tutor. His dishes are basic but may be could do a First Year Living on Your Own as a Young Adult cooking show. There are actually many people who don't cook or never learned to cook and the level Brooklyn is at now would be a good place to start for soem of these folks.

Harper is not dyslexic. She worked really hard for the post-11 exam and had loads of extra support but she never did particularly well. She is still the cleverest in their family by a mile. I see her as managing to get some qualifications in the future.

derxa · 28/01/2023 17:13

As I suspected. Having grown up with a dyslexic dad and working with dyslexic children for many years I'm extremely sympathetic. MN is a hive of intellectual snobbery and extremely diablist. Calling people who have difficulty with literacy skills thick is disgusting.

Bet they wouldn't employ him in their chic restaurants. Remembered that one of Springsteens son's became a fireman a couple of years ago. When the Tv tried to interview Bruce he just said it's about him today.

I think every time a new video pops up, I imagine myself if I was his mum. I'd think I should have steered him in other directions, presented other options. I don't know, maybe they think it's all fantastic and are not at all embarrassed for him.

She defends him to the hilt and says his recipes are great. Bloody cringe fest.

I’m the article she says all of her family struggle with dyslexia.

ThePoshUns · 28/01/2023 17:16

I h w little sympathy for him.
He's had an expensive education, he could have done anything and not necessarily in the public eye. He's choosing to carve out some sort of celebrity career but sadly doesn't have the talent or work ethic to back it up.

FairyLightAddict · 28/01/2023 17:16

Brooklyn is dyslexic. My friend was his tutor. Sadly he's not a bright spark either. My son's dyslexic but seriously intelligent.

I have a dyslexic dad as well as a dyslexic son and 2 dyslexic grandchildren.

I wouldn't hire your friend as a tutor. They sound very unprofessional.

JudgeRudy · 28/01/2023 17:19

I remember reading in Jackie or similar that Paul McCartneys kids got the same pocket money as my sister and me. They weren't really in the public eye either. Stella seems successful. No idea who the others are.

Are you one of those parents who can only cope with a child having a disability if they also have a super strength.

I know.

i also have a son who needs 2-1 round the clock care due to his disabilities but he reads more fluently than his sibling or nieces. We couldn’t let him out the garden gate alone though.

FairyLightAddict · 28/01/2023 17:21

I'm dyslexic and not bright. I was merely pointing out he's not the sharpest tool in the box. Dyslexia doesn't define you.

There is definitely a genetic element to dyslexia.
