To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:32

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

Someone said "he's just a kid" @musingsinmidlife
That's where I differ.

AutumnCrow · 28/01/2023 15:57

It was very important to Brooklyn Beckham to be seen as a married man. Indeed he IS a married man, and has been for a while now - and he's in his 20s.

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/01/2023 15:57

I don’t feel sorry for him, because I imagine he’ll never be short of a bob or two. Both of his brothers are more personable though and maybe he’s conscious of that and of being the eldest, so having to make his way.

The thing with Jamie Redknapp and Frank Lampard Junior ,was Th at they clearly had talent and they also had famous footballer father's who knew how to nurture the talent and get them.taken seriously at a young age
there will.be thousands of young boys who Have just as much talent as a them but nobody either recognised it or where able to steer them in the right direction
same with the Neville brothers they grew up just around the corner from me (their dad wasent a footballer but he played cricket for the county by and their mum played netball at league level) their parents would have known how to get Gary and Phill known as soon as they started to show talent m

Tracey Neville also had a high achieving sporting career, playing international netball for England and later becoming head coach.

Now Phil Neville coaches DB’s Inter Miami and has signed his own 20 year old son on a 2 year deal. He’s Romeo’s contemporary.

I think sporting ability, like say acting, can run in families and then when it doesn’t, say like George Best’s son, it’s seen as failing on the child’s part, which is harsh. It’ll be interesting to see what he Rooney lads decide to do with their lives, they must be a close comparison.

I think every time a new video pops up, I imagine myself if I was his mum. I'd think I should have steered him in other directions, presented other options. I don't know, maybe they think it's all fantastic and are not at all embarrassed for him.

Well let's face it VB is hardly a success is she? her fashion brand fails every year financially and she is bailed out by her husband.

Interesting isn't it that he hasn't secured a position, any sort of position, via Gordon Ramsay. Given that the parents are supposedly very friendly, I wonder why? As a PP said... what an opportunity.
Maybe even starting off at the bottom, via a GR introduction, is too much like hard work for him.

Because Gordon Ramsay would expect him to actually work and learn.

LastOfTheChristmasWine · 28/01/2023 16:06

The only way I could ever bring myself to feel sorry for him is that he can't win.

If he succeeds in something, obviously it will only be because of his parents background and the opportunities given to him - generally being a 'nepobaby'

If he fails at something it's despite his parents background and the opportunities (and us mere mortals have all failed at something, let's be honest).

His achievements or lack thereof will never be seen outside the context of his background; he can never just have ordinary achievements and failures.

38thparallel · 28/01/2023 16:06

This is hilarious - so it's the Royal Family's fault somehow? Some posters really do shoehorn this stuff into anything.

Wait long enough and someone will blame Brexit...

Haha yes, or the Tories…

My son of the same age (I was pregnant when she was back in 1999) is shaking a rattle in a Care Home. His development froze at one year old.
He's never spoken a word in his life, needs 2 carers to walk either side of him in the community and has no idea of the "world outside his window".
It breaks my heart every time I see or hear about any young man of his age.
I try to avoid it in the media, but just had to respond to someone feeling sorry for BB.

I’m so sorry, there is nothing anyone can say, but your post puts everything in perspective. 💔💐

GloriAAAH · 28/01/2023 16:11

I usually ignore anything yo do with him or any others who see the limelight due to their parents.

Who would even glance at Jack & Kelly Osborne, or Sharon come to think of it if it weren’t for Ozzy. Yet his kids Jessica & Louis from his first marriage to Thelma seem decent enough, as does Jessica his eldest with Sharon.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 28/01/2023 16:20

Don't be. He's a millionaire married to one of the richest heiresses in the world - his wife is worth $50m.

He'll be just grand.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 28/01/2023 10:22

No, then again I never once thought David and Victoria were attractive and never understood the crushes so many women had on DB. He looks like a street vendor flogging stolen goods.

This made me laugh a lot. He looks even more like that now that he has had a shedload of botox.

Brieandjam · 28/01/2023 16:24

Buddy oliver has much more clue than BB. Me and my kids actually enjoy watching him.

blueshoes · 28/01/2023 16:28

World's smallest violin comes to mind.

earsup · 28/01/2023 16:32

I have relatives that went to school with both parents....they are incredibly thick, no academic ability at all. If it wasn't for DB making lots of cash in football, they would probably be window cleaners etc. I also know that the boys were asked to leave the private school as dragged down the average sats scores etc and had no academic potential at all. he just needs to get on with being married and keep out the media as its so embarassing...i do feel sorry for him, knowing that he was made fun of at school etc....would love to give more details but cant !

flabbygoldfish · 28/01/2023 16:32

Both his parents have worked hard. David clearly had some talent in kicking a ball about and developed it by a lot of practice. VB did work hard in the Spice Girls with her limited vocals and continues to work hard at remaining stick skinny ever since. Both parents have demonstrated commitment to a cause, and worked at it tirelessly.

Brooklyn has not actually bothered trying with any real effort at anything..that is my problem with him. Starts something, not an instant success, so moves along which he can do as his parents bail him out. He is just lazy and immature.

SisterCassandra · 28/01/2023 16:33

StLevanBlackcaps · 28/01/2023 09:53

He comes across as an absolute idiot, he doesn’t appear to have inherited any of his parents’ work ethic and seems completely talentless but apparently unaware of it.

On the other hand his 2 brothers have inherited their parents’ looks while he and his sister are pretty ordinary. That must be quite tough in such an image-conscious family.

I’ve always thought this but felt too mean to voice it 🤣
Poor boy, in a family where image is everything, the combination of his fathers good looks and his mothers slightly above average but makes the most of what she’s got looks came out unfortunately for him. I do feel sorry for him, the Peltzes don’t seem overly thrilled to have him either.

Pinkyandtwerky · 28/01/2023 16:41

@Theemptychair23 huge hugs to you. I can’t imagine how painful it must be to have such a clear comparison of someone at the same age. I hope you and your son have love and support.

derxa · 28/01/2023 16:41

Footballing ability doesn't usually run in families, or does it?

It’s a joke, he’s taking the piss.

MxPickles · 28/01/2023 16:46

itsnotmeitisactuallyyou · 28/01/2023 12:54

This made laugh out loud

And if he tires of those he could always explore crochet (hookin' with Brooklyn) and limbo dancing (duckin' with Brooklyn)

derxa · 28/01/2023 16:46

I have relatives that went to school with both parents....they are incredibly thick, They really aren't. Compared to the wages footballers earn now, Beckham earned peanuts.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/01/2023 16:50

Pensatucky · 28/01/2023 15:59

Because Gordon Ramsay would expect him to actually work and learn.

Yes - I don't think GR would carry any passengers.

I was really impressed with his daughter Maisie when she was on strictly. I think she probably got her place because of her dad, but she put her all intuit and worked really hard - a good work ethic.

I couldn't see young Brooklyn doing that.

38thparallel · 28/01/2023 16:51

I'll stop being horrible & nasty about vacuous parasites when they start paying proper taxes, contributing hard extra cash to public services.

Do the Beckhams not pay tax?

limitedperiodonly · 28/01/2023 16:52

I feel a bit sorry for him sometimes. He's not going to set the world on fire but thinking about it, that's most of us.

His crimes are being the totally unexceptional child of parents who though undoubtedly loving and proud really should turn the cameras off.

What has he really done wrong? He's never been pictured stumbling out of clubs, has no convictions for drugs and has never run anyone over while sober or under the influence.

Instead he has tried out various careers and has settled down and got married and is not drawing benefits. In the scheme of things, celebrity or otherwise, that is reasonably good going.

If anyone is at fault it is David and Victoria Beckham but though I'm not like them I can't really find it in my heart or be arsed to have a go at them. I definitely cannot be arsed to have a go at their rather plodding eldest child.

Not like Marina Hyde. With all those other deserving people to eviscerate in The Guardian at the time - Liz Truss, Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock, Vladimir Putin among others - she chose Brooklyn Beckham for this thoroughly nasty column. That was unbecoming of her talents and anyone of lesser calibre else who also gets their kicks from kicking puppies.
