Partner cracked my back..now I'm in pain!

My partner cracked my back ( I had asked him too as I felt stiff) about 2 days ago, and I immediately felt a strange pain. 2 days laters, and the pain is getting worse, I feel like I'm going to collapse when I eat, and I can't even settle in pain due to the pain being so bad.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Sorry for the typos, I meant to say I can't settle in bed.

Also later*

FFS see a doctor. And stop asking your partner to crack you. If you must, see a chiropractor.

Nimbostratus100 · 28/01/2023 06:31

Why on earth would you ask him to inure you?

Dillydollydingdong · 28/01/2023 06:32

Cracked your back? What strange ritual is this ffs? You need to get the doctor or A&E to look at it. You might have done serious damage

converseandjeans · 28/01/2023 06:36

Go and see an osteopath or chiropractor. That sounds like it will get worse.

GP or A&E won't be able to help you.

GoodChat · 28/01/2023 06:38

Why are people acting like this is a really unusual thing to ask your partner to do?

It's like when you have a really good stretch!

OP you do need to get seen if painkillers aren't helping.

Sparklfairy · 28/01/2023 06:42

I crack my own back but would NEVER let a friend or partner do it although I am tempted to see a chiropractor - what were you thinking?!

changingforthebetter3 · 28/01/2023 06:44

I would book in with a chiropractor

Crabo · 28/01/2023 06:47

You should not do those sort of things without someone very experienced like a chiropractor. I remember talking to my chiropractor about it and he said you could seriously injure someone. You really need to see a doctor and get an x-ray and what has happened

because it is a terrible thing to ask your partner to do, and a totally irresponsible thing for a partner to agree to do.
Backs are extremely precious and very fragile

Because it is a really unusual thing to do. I am not even sure what it is and I have honestly never heard of anyone “cracking their back”. Of course OP is now injured as a result and needs medical attention, not unsurprisingly.

Doctor asap,

IDontWantToBeAPie · 28/01/2023 06:54

@Teeturtle it's not unusual tbh. Most people I know twist their back while sitting to crack it...

You get them to squeeze you until your back makes a cracking sound. Similar can be achieved by many yoga poses.

Bluegingerbread · 28/01/2023 06:55

Unless your partner is actually a qualified osteopath, he shouldn't be cracking anyone's back. See an osteopath today as an emergency, ring round til you find one that can fit you in and then see what they recommend.

It isn't unusual. Well not in my world.

There are even videos of how to do it yourself with a twisting movement.

Landlubber2019 · 28/01/2023 06:57

Sorry I have never experienced this, a chiropractor once cracked my back and it was great, however hell would freeze over before I asked my partner to do this.

Get yourself to a qualified chiropractor and beg for an urgent appt. Hopefully no permanent damage has been caused x

My husband cracks my back every day!

Dashel · 28/01/2023 07:07

Im not sure a doctor is going to do much apart from recommending pain relief.

When I herniated a disc I went straight to a private physio and left feeling much better. If you can afford it I would recommend seeing a private chiropractor asap. Some have Saturday appointments so it might be worth looking now

Boooooot · 28/01/2023 07:09

We used to crack each others backs all the time at school! If you’re in pain though you obviously need to see an osteopath.

PeachDelany · 28/01/2023 07:09

I think chiropractors are goofball medicine. I had my back cracked several times and it did absolutely nothing for my back issues. I'd actually say it was dangerous.

If they are inexperienced then it was a silly thing to do. He has probably popped a rib out, does it hurt when you breath in...., see a chiropractor/body worker

Namenic · 28/01/2023 07:13

Please go to gp or a&e (to be seen today). You need to be examined to check there is no spinal cord or nerve damage. In the meantime take painkillers (according to the instructions at the back of the packet) - see a pharmacist if unsure.
