Do not buy from Wayfair

Can I report Wayfair to trading standards or take legal action.
I purchased a dining set with table and six chairs. was supposed to be in stock and delivered two weeks ago. Now they say they can’t deliver and are trying to say it is a mistake on the listing and it’s only the table ( £1600 which was 49% sale ) For a table they themselves are selling for much much less.
they seem to be incompetent, disinterested and verging on scam artists!
I have reported them to PayPal buyer protection.
can you report them to trading standards?
they have all my money and you can’t get customer service to do anything. I would recommend no one buy anything from them!!

Just to clarify I have the table they sent but no chairs. Why should I have to wait for them to pick it up. It’s too heavy for me to repack. They are disinterested conmen in my opinion!

There was one of these threads a few weeks ago.

I've ordered several things from them. The items were fine and delivery was pretty quick.

IglesiasPiggl · 24/01/2023 16:19

Sorry you've had a bad experience. I have bought loads from Wayfair with no problems. If the listing said table plus chairs, and so does your email receipt then they should either send you the chairs, or refund you in full and come and get the table. What have they actually offered?

When have they said they'll come and pick it up?

Tenuouslink · 24/01/2023 16:20

How do people like you cope in the real world.

Just wait for them to collect and get a refund like any other normal human being would

They’re not scam artists, or conning you.

AngeloMysterioso · 24/01/2023 16:21

I’ve bought bedding from Wayfair, it was about £50 cheaper than the same set in John Lewis. Didn’t have any problems.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 24/01/2023 16:32

I’ve bought from them recently. Had no issues and love my item

Puddington · 24/01/2023 16:54

I've bought tons of things from there including beautiful bedding, a hallway runner, cat beds etc and never had any problems. Hope you get sorted soon OP, I don't think they're trying to scam you.

Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:06

It’s a huge heavy table though. I paid someone to put it up. They want me to repackage it to refund which I just can’t do on my own.
Also I think offering me 15% off for not supplying six chairs is insulting my intelligence!
also waiting in days for deliveries that don’t come and told misinformation.

It’s the worst company I have ever dealt with. You have to wait for all sorts of mysterious emails and managers to sort it out which they don’t do.

I do think they are bordering on fraudulent miss selling !!!

OP posts:
Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:07

Also they have £1600 of my cash so don’t have funds to buy another table which is rubbish as now I have no table or chairs !

Seriously ? A bit rude

OP posts:
GoAGoGo · 24/01/2023 17:11

If it didn't come with the chairs as you expected, then why did you have the table put up?
Surely you would have left it packaged while raising your query with the company?

Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:16

Because I was assured on the phone and email that they would send me them in a week …..but today they backtracked.
I have no table and trusted their word. I didn’t know they were incompetent charlatans!
worst of all I know they can get the chairs from the supplier as they are in stock through other vendors but they can’t seem to do it or won’t do it.
I feel like I have been scammed .

OP posts:
Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:18

Just to be clear the item I bought is a table with 6 chairs. They seem to think I might be happy just to pay the same amount for a table. They are by far the most infuriating rubbish company I have ever dealt with .

just Warning others . Obviously not alone as trust piolet reviews are bad.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 24/01/2023 17:23

So you bought a table and chair set for £1600 and have proof that it was the whole set that you purchased.
You received a delivery of just the table and no chairs. You contacted them straight away to alert them to the missing items and they replied in writing that the chairs were on their way.
You paid someone to assemble the table.
Chairs still haven't arrived and now they're saying that the chairs aren't included. Have you sent them proof that they were included and they previously confirmed you were getting them?
Now they are asking for you to accept just the table with a 15% credit or to package the table up for a full refund?

Tbh, if all the above is factual and you have proof I'd email the CEO.

Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:24

Yes that’s exactly right slice of cake as you described.

OP posts:
ShellsOnTheBeach · 24/01/2023 17:28

Then email the CEO as Sliceofcake suggest3d. Be sure to word it as she did as your OP was somewhat confusing.

Mumsanetta · 24/01/2023 17:29

That’s very infuriating. I had a similar issue with them - ordered a chair that was supposed to be available immediately but was then delayed a week. I complained and it was eventually delivered. The chair itself turned out to be damaged and they gave me a refund very quickly.

I would take @SliceOfCakeCupOfTea summary and post it on their Facebook and twitter pages as a complaint. It will likely get dealt with quicker.

Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:31

Yes sorry I was slightly annoyed when I was typing it.

How do you get the CEO email and do they ever respond?

I’ve reported them to PayPal to charge back the amount if they don’t resolve through their buyer protection.

I know it's AIBU. but really. Do some of you need to be so twatty. She's obviously stressed and maybe hasn't encountered something like this before.

OP. Take some of the constructive advice offered and ignore the misery bags

Disappointingbiscuit · 24/01/2023 17:49

They should definitely be repackaging and collecting it for you free of charge. Keep on at them and get stroppy if you have to. I have no experience of wayfare but worked in furniture retail for a number of years and some companies do have terrible customer service. It tends to be the customers who shout loudest that get what they want unfortunately.

Disappointingbiscuit · 24/01/2023 17:55

Just to clarify, it did say "table and chairs" in description didn't it? I have had some people assume it's a set just because there were chairs in the photo

Nogg · 24/01/2023 17:59

Yes it definitely said table and 6 chairs

OP posts:
NewNovember · 24/01/2023 17:59

Did your order confirmation say table and chairs?

Nogg · 24/01/2023 18:01

Yes it says table and chairs
