To feel utterly green with jealousy when I see Mums at the gates for Pre-school looking gorgeous

I work at a Prep school and DD is 14m. Every morning I see two Women (friends) looking immaculate in their teeny velour tracksuits, great hair, manicured nails, 10m olds perched on a slim hipbone kissing their 3 y olds goodbye. They are like the supercool Moms and all the the other Mums kind of hover around them.
I used to be a very attractive young Woman, when I see them I feel like "how the buggery can you look so good with 2 kids I can't find time to put a comb through my hair". Maybe I need some treatments...

This is a silly thread I know.
I will go now.

CWE - I know how you feel. I was getting really miserable at being the token scruffy bint at pre-school. I started a thread on here 'cus I was lost in what to wear (my clothes were 6+ years old!!!).
I got tough on myself. I took every item of clothing out of my wardrobe. If I knew I'd be ashamed of it I binned it mercilessly, ditto 'fat' clothes, stuff I thought I might wear but haven't. I then washed and ironed the lot (took ages but v therapuetic) All my stuff for 'daytime' is now all put away and arranged so its easy to 'throw' on (as easy as picking up something grubby/crappy from the washing pile. I have facial cleanser wipes for speed, a really simple make-up routine and short hair. I have no excuse to look crappy anymore. I think once you're in the mindset and organised about it it's easier to maintain. Once you have that initial confidence it is easier.
(p.s. I now even wear skirts and FM boots!!! Hope I brighten someone's morning!!!)

I do my hair at night, cos it needs straightening to look good, or if I havent I put it in a twist (fuck knows what it's called).

Takes me about the same time to do my make-up as it does kids to get their coats on, I must admit just lately I have been all jeans and boots as I'm 30weeks pg, but I love wrap dresses and can't wait to wear them again.

i completely agree with you and mentioned this to my friend who said to me yes but you can look really good

are you annoyed that they look good or that you just dont make the effort that you used to

in all truthfulness big slim tall or small we are all capable of looking good and it is we just give up trying

so now i make sure my hair is done i dress nice and it makes me feel so much better if we were more confident with our selves we wouldnt feel the need to be insecure

it just means we realise that we dont make as much effort any more we still look good just need to work on confidence a bit more and make more effort

i'll always point out the good looking girls and think my dp is bound to notice but then i look at myself hair slung back in ponytail trouser with playdoh and food stuck on them lol

and think well i too can do my hair put on a bit of lippy and nice clothes and turn a few heads so now thats what i intend to do
