Every single thread about names in any context some poster pops up with “Is it Balonz 🤣🤣🤣”. I may be being irrationally mardy but:

1. It isn’t funny, it was mildly amusing years ago but certainly isn’t funny anymore
2. It’s really really old now. Can’t we do better and come up with some new lines rather than relying on this and Pom Bears and Naice Ham for lolz.

Willing to accept if IABU (hmmm). So settle this for me:

YANBU - Balonz isn’t funny and should die a death
YABU - what you on about! Balonz continues to be hilarious and is an absolute classic! Get a sense of humour and a life woman.

Oh yes absolutely it annoys me but not half as much as bringing up Snapped and Farted as the height of hilarity - was never amazing or funny

It's an in-joke. It's not meant to make you fall on the floor splitting your sides ROFLing, it's meant to enhance group cohesion and invoke a sense of community and shared history. 🤷‍♀️

I’ve been here for over ten years and somehow managed to miss the Balonz joke. I see it all the time on names threads but have never known what it’s about!

Does anyone still find Balonz funny though, really? The countdown to see who comes out with it first is more entertaining now.

To be fair, some of the seriously suggested baby names are so atrocious that balonz actually seems reasonable in comparison.
