To ask if people still wear pyjamas round the house?

I know it was popular, I've never worn pjs to bed but just changed into them when I get home to chill out for the evening or sometimes at weekends if it's raining and not going anywhere.
Do people still do this?

Yes! I pretty much live in pyjamas at home. As soon as I get in, quick shower and clean pjs on.

Yep me too.

featheryfancy · 21/01/2023 21:27

Always. If I'm not going back out, I'm in pyjamas

HunterHearstHelmsley · 21/01/2023 21:30

I always wear PJs, loungewear or once outside clothes that have been relegated to home clothes.
Never quite understood why you'd wear your outside clothes if you're just hanging at home.

OohThatCat · 21/01/2023 21:32

I will literally wear them at any opportunity!

Champagneforeveryone · 21/01/2023 21:32

It's my favourite thing! PJ bottoms and a t-shirt or hoody if it's cold.

When I was young, my heart would sink when I opened a birthday or Christmas present and it was PJ's. These days I can hardly contain my glee 😆

fairtrauchled · 21/01/2023 21:37

No. I only wear pyjamas in bed.

Bonjovispyjamas · 21/01/2023 21:43

I never get dressed until I actually go out, comfort trumps all.

MajesticWhine · 21/01/2023 21:50

I only wear pyjamas in bed or on a weekend morning when I take a while to get showered and dressed.
I take my dogs out last thing at night so I wouldn't change straight into PJs for the evening.

PlantKi1ler · 21/01/2023 21:52

Yes! I live in PJ's or joggers when I'm at home.

Francisca459 · 21/01/2023 21:55

I've never worn pyjamas around the house. I don't own any nightwear, either. I get dressed when I'm up and wear nothing in bed. My parents were the same way and never wore loungewear, pyjamas or dressing gowns around the house.
I don't know anyone who wears nightclothes around the house. Maybe it's an age/generation thing. Also, I live in a tiny village where sometimes people just walk in the back door and shout when they want you! 😄

Indecisivebynature · 21/01/2023 21:56

Me! And I take them off when I go to bed.

WhatDoYouWantNow · 21/01/2023 21:57

Ooh, I love my jamas. I put them on after dinner (about 6.30) and get comfy for the evening

knittingaddict · 21/01/2023 21:58

Of course I do.

SkippyKangeroo · 21/01/2023 21:58

Joggers as soon I get in, jogging shorts and long sleeved t shirt for bed.

If Im WFH I get properly professionally dressed as well, to get me in the right frame of mind and to separate work from home, if that makes sense.

SoupAndSodaBread · 21/01/2023 19:41

I don't do this, but I'm sure plenty of people do. I am partial to joggers and a hoodie which is just a bigger version of PJs. But I only wear actual PJs to sleep in

This

Pyewhacket · 21/01/2023 22:02

No. I only wear PJ’s when I go to bed and then only in the winter.

Honper · 21/01/2023 22:07

No. Did a bit too much leisure wear between 2020 and 2022. Kind of over it now.

I have a variety of jumper dresses and muted coloured tights which I guess are much the same as a tunic + leggings combination but it feels different.

SarahAndQuack · 21/01/2023 22:14

I still find it really luxurious to wear pyjamas during the day. I don't do it often but sometimes if we're all ill or very tired we'll have a PJ saturday and snuggle up on the sofa. Or sometimes I'll get into the earlier in the evening if we're not going anywhere.

It is not something I grew up with - my parents brought us up that you get dressed before you do anything else, and you stay dressed until you go to bed. They were also a 'shoes in the house' family and I was brought up to think wearing just socks inside was slovenly. Slippers were ok, or bare feet for children, but adults in socks suggested you were too lazy to get dressed properly, or too lazy to clean your floors regularly. This was definitely related to PJs only being for bed, though I'm not sure why.

My DP was brought up the opposite, and when I got together with her she taught me the loveliness of having really nice nightwear/really snuggly dressing gowns, and enjoying getting cosy.

LBFseBrom · 21/01/2023 22:14

Yes. Why not? Pyjamas nowadays just look like leisurewear anyway.

Blinky21 · 21/01/2023 22:18

Lounge wear at home but change into PJs for bed, feels a bit weird to me to wear PJs around the house and a bit unhygienic to not put something clean on for bed

Mrsuntidy · 21/01/2023 22:20

Always get into my PJs as soon as I'm home. Bra off and PJ's on. Love them. DH and children do too.

selfishmummy · 21/01/2023 22:42

If I'm home or only going to a baby group or a quick trip to the shops I'll usually wear leggings and a long jumper in winter or a stretchy dress of some sort in summer which I usually keep on until I put on what I wear to sleep. If I've been out and worn jeans during the day, or been at work, when I get in I'll get changed into jogging bottoms and a vest top. I sleep in a pj top and big knickers.

Twillow · 21/01/2023 22:47

I know it's popular, but I just couldn't unless I am actually going to bed! I'm always having to ferry kids here and there or answer the door and I just could not do that in my pyjamas. I have even seen adults in the supermarket in pjs and dressing gowns - the height of slobbery imao!

RobertaFirmino · 21/01/2023 22:54

Mine go on about two hours before bedtime. My usual clothes aren't uncomfortable, I need disability friendly clothes which for me, means pull-on dresses, thick tights, and open cardigans in winter.
