Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole by Martha Wainwright. It's about her dad, and always falling short of his expectations. It's absolutely heartbreaking.

I'm cracking up
And you have no idea
No idea how it feels to be on your own
In your own home with the fucking phone
And the mother of gloom
In your bedroom standing over your head
With her hand in your head
With her hand in your head
I will not pretend
I will not put on a smile
I will not say I'm all right for you
When all I wanted was to be good
To do everything in truth
To do everything in truth

@TheresOnlyOneWayOfLife Better man was an emotional blast from the 90s for me on my playlist the other day. I'd not heard it in years. Ds's dad put it on a compilation tape for me when I was 18. 1994 that was. We lost touch, got back in touch, lost touch, got back in touch, lost touch, both got married and divorced, got back in touch, got back together 10 years ago, broke up, discovered I was pregnant, he cut contact. Ds is 8 and I've no regrets but that song 😭 I've been thinking of him a lot latent and it really got me whilst out walking and trying not to cry.

Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton... Can't listen past the first two lines normally, reminds me of my dad.

Irish Heartbeat - Van Morrison

Never Let Me Go - Florence and the Machine, particularly the lines

The arms of the ocean are carrying me
So cold and so sweet
And all this devotion was rushing out of me
And the crashes are heaven for a sinner like me
But the arms of the ocean delivered me
And it's over and I'm going under
But I'm not giving up
I'm just giving in
