Time After Time Eva Cassidy,

Another one here who sheds a tear at Sunshine on Leith.

Abba's 'Slipping through my fingers' and 'She used to be mine' by Sara Bareilles get me every time, for very different reasons.

Some of the songs on this list are really lovely..I'll look up the ones I don't know.

I love the Johnny Cash version

They are 2 different songs aren't they?

bloodywhitecat · 21/01/2023 19:37

A Thousand Years - Christina Perri, played at our wedding

Mr Brightside - The Killers played 9 months later at DH's funeral (because he always sang it loudly with completely the wrong words).

More recently Pointless - Lewis Capaldi because, right now, everything does feel pointless without him.

MaMisled · 21/01/2023 19:37

Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA. Just can't listen to it because it makes me want my 3DC back in nappies and here with me, not in different cities.

Goldenboysmum · 21/01/2023 19:37

One of the songs played at my sons funeral was Goodbye by Kenny Rogers

I took some lines from it and put them on my sons headstone

There's other songs that make me cry too, but that one makes me cry the most

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 21/01/2023 19:38

The Boxer - Simon and Garfunkel
Love is a Losing Game - by the late, the great Amy Winehouse. Even thinking about it makes me well up.

Loads of songs really. Ones with gospel choirs always make me cry.

Norfolkungood · 21/01/2023 19:38

Daniel Merriweather- Red
Lucy Spraggan-Put the kettle on
Lady A- What if I never get over you
Lady A- Need You Now
Josh Brogan-River
Dolly Parton-Wildflowers

Yes A Thousand Years is beautiful, I love the lyrics.

AnyFucker · 21/01/2023 19:39

@bloodywhitecat your grief is tangible. I am so sorry.

Oxborn · 21/01/2023 19:39

Your never walk alone, he ain’t heavy, bridge over troubled water

Sorry I accidentally posted too soon, so sorry that you have lost your DH Flowers

Roselilly36 · 21/01/2023 19:40

The living years - Mike & the Mechanics

Takeoutyourhen · 21/01/2023 19:41

Gravity by Coldplay

Runningoncoffeealone · 21/01/2023 19:41

So many, but a few off the top of my head -
Golden brown by the stranglers,
Together in electric dreams by Philop Oakley,
Rose of May and You're not alone by Erutan (these are fan made songs from a video game but so beautiful),
Vienna by Ultravox,
Albatross by Fleetwood mac (not sad in itself but was played at the funeral of someone I loved),
Devil doesn't bargain by Alec Benjamin - I was in a toxic relationship for years and this song really hits home sometimes.

katesbushh · 21/01/2023 19:42

Tears in Heaven Eric Clapton
Everybody hurts REM
Time after time Cyndi Lauper

The part in Aerosmith Crazy where he sings I need your love, towards the end.
Gives me goosebumps, very emotional .

RewildingAmbridge · 21/01/2023 19:43

Depends on my mood for some songs, but the one that gets me every single time wherever I am if I'm alone or in company, is love of my life by Queen. My gran chose it for my grandad's funeral, I didn't know beforehand and it floored me. She also read a letter she'd written to him. One of the strongest bravest women I know and a relationship that was a true true love to aspire to.

CatchYouOnTheFlippetyFlop · 21/01/2023 19:44

Some of these post have actually got me shedding a tear.

Ilikeviognier · 21/01/2023 19:45

Bridge over troubled water - played at my dads funeral. Actually can’t listen to many of their songs as it reminds me of both of my dead parents😢
