Shallow - Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper

Nothing compares - Sinead O'Connor

Love is a losing game - Amy Winehouse

Everybody hurts - REM

Loads more depending on my mood.

Also, Celine Dion - Fly

So sad. The lyrics untouchably pure

Oh my gosh yes... what a blast from the past

DrLecter · 21/01/2023 19:21

'39 by Queen

Specifically, the lines:
"For the Earth is old and grey, little darling, we'll away
But my love, this cannot be!
Oh, so many years have gone though I'm older but a year
Your mother's eyes, from your eyes, cry to me"

He's been away on a space mission to find a habitable planet. Although it feels as if he's only been away a year, his wife has long grown old and died and their daughter is now her age. There's some actual clever physics that explains this which Brian May, being an astrophysicist, obviously built in...

WhenYouWalkThroughTheGarden · 21/01/2023 19:23

Taylor Swift - Never Grow Up
Nelly Furtado - Try
Art Garfunkel - Bright Eyes

No one’s ever heard of it but Clay Aiken - Proud of Your Boy (lost song from Disney’s Aladdin) makes me howl as I massively identify due to disappointing parents in the past etc.

wildthingsinthenight · 21/01/2023 19:23

Bohemond · 21/01/2023 19:23

I lived Clay Aiken when he was on American Idol, what a voice!

ChiefAdjusterOfRubensShorts · 21/01/2023 19:25

Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Eva Cassidy (played at my DM’s funeral, likewise You Are Not Alone - Michael Jackson.

Also Firework - Katy Perry, DS related.

SlaveToTheVibe · 21/01/2023 19:26

Sunshine on Leith. A song of mourning in this house but it brings much so much comfort.

DrLecter · 21/01/2023 19:26

Also -

'Wichita Lineman' by Glen Campbell ("And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time")

'Everything I Own' by Bread.

I cry at quite a lot of songs, in fact. And at books and films. But hardly ever in real life.

Zanatdy · 21/01/2023 19:26

Quite a few but especially the songs I chose for my dad’s funeral including Blackbird and Here comes the sun by the Beatles. So many theatre powerful songs, and tears in heaven Eric Clapton as it was playing at my friends brothers funeral who died age 17.

Bedbouncer · 21/01/2023 19:27

Radiohead, high and dry ("all your insides fall to pieces, you just sit there wishing you could still make love"). Reminds me of my sister who we lost to breast cancer way too young.

PugInTheHouse · 21/01/2023 19:28

Who wants to live forever- Queen

Bedbouncer · 21/01/2023 19:28

You mentioned Bread - It Don’t Matter To Me has me in tears every time. Lovely lovely band.

sidsgranny · 21/01/2023 19:31

Dance with my Father - Luther Vandross
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton

Among so many others!

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 21/01/2023 19:31

Oh I love this... I cry super easily but some songs make me cry at the the drop of a hat.
Kate Bush.. this woman's work
Kate Bush.. don't give up
Jamie Lawson.. I wasn't expecting that
James Arthur..say you won't let go
I put these songs on in the car but get immediately emotional and have to turn them off 😆
