Or have I been ripped off? Cleaner

I paid for a deep clean today.

They haven't cleaned any of the skirting boards which clearly needed doing. There's also still dirt on the bathroom floor that's not been mopped or hoovered. They also haven't cleaned any of the interior windows.

AIBU to say something?

Weren’t you there at the end of the clean?

Devineursula · 20/01/2023 16:07

How big the property? How long there? Agency?

roloololo · 20/01/2023 16:07

No, my sister is staying with me so paid her. She clearly didn't do a thorough enough check.

She said the cleaner was in a rush to leave at the end.

2 bedroom house. Two toilets. Was here for about 2 hours.

Very much depends on what you agreed up front and how long you paid for. I’d definitely expect the floor to get done properly regardless though and probably the skirting too. Windows are a big job and often done separately so unless they specifically agreed this perhaps not surprising they were not done.

roloololo · 20/01/2023 16:08

And no not agency.

Devineursula · 20/01/2023 16:08

How big? How long? Agency? And was she given instructions as to what you wanted? You can’t just say “deep clean”

roloololo · 20/01/2023 16:09

The house also smells of dirty water now too.

2 hours for a deep clean???

no chance

when I ask my cleaner to do a deep clean of my bathrooms - it takes her a solid 2 hours just to do 2 bathrooms! And she’s bloody brilliant

Sarahcoggles · 20/01/2023 16:10

I wouldn't have thought 2 hours was long enough to do a deep clean. My cleaners come as a pair for an hour, so 2 hours equivalent, and my house is only slightly larger. There's no way they'd get a deep clean done.

OP

How many cleaners? You said your sister paid her -was there just one of them? One cleaner can’t deep clean a house in 2 hours.

Devineursula · 20/01/2023 16:10

Is it the first time you’ve ever used a cleaner Op?

JennieTheZebra · 20/01/2023 16:10

2 hours is nowhere near enough for a deep clean for a property that size. My flat is that size and I have a 2 hour clean every week. A deep clean is more like 4-6 hours, especially if you want windows doing.

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 20/01/2023 16:10

2 hours isn’t a deep clean. Thts a regular clean of a house that size unless it’s empty (end of tenancy for example)

A deep clean inc windows, skirtings, tops of cupboards etc is usually 4-5 hours if not more, and about £120-£150 in North Wales

roloololo · 20/01/2023 16:10

There was two of them. It's the first time I've ever used a cleaner.

OP posts:
Hedjwitch · 20/01/2023 16:10

How much did they charge?

LIZS · 20/01/2023 16:12

2 hours is not long enough for a deep-clean. Yes you have been ripped off.

That is clear I am afraid.

2 hours is not a “deep clean” even with 2.

and if they’ve never been, then you needed to be clear what you expected.

Devineursula · 20/01/2023 16:12

What made you go for a one off deep clean?

roloololo · 20/01/2023 16:13

What made you go for a one off deep clean?

I've been unwell/mostly bed bound for a little while. I needed a fresh start with the cleaning to get back on top of it.

4hrs of work in total should have certainty covered the skirting boards and your home should always smell fresh after cleaning. Our cleaner does not do windows (only frames) but that was clearly set out from day one.

The skirting hasn't been touched and the house stinks.

PAFMO · 20/01/2023 16:15

Depends what your agreement was with the cleaner.
Two hours isn't a deep clean, it's a normal time for the stuff the cleaner does every time they come.
If you only booked them for two hours, then you get 2 hours cleaning.
A deep clean of every room, if that's what you wanted, is much longer.

Kangarude · 20/01/2023 16:16

How much did you pay OP?

roloololo · 20/01/2023 16:16

I didn't book for two hours, they said they'd stay as long as it took.
