You know I often thing that people on MN are too quick to shout 'leave him'.

But on this occasion, there's nothing else for it. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Does he ever shout 'asylum seeker lesbians are eating the countryside!' in his sleep? If so, get an injunction too.

duchesse · 05/02/2008 12:09

Wha? Daily Mail??? Has he developed some kind of disease? Does it look like a "phase", or there to stay. Is he doing to wind you up?

Bessie123 · 05/02/2008 12:09

Try some sort of electric shock therapy. Can you wire the DM up to the mains, so every time he touches it, he will get a massive electric shock? After a while, he will come to fear the DM and will not be able to bring himself to pick it up.

Please stay away from that Liz Jones at all costs, or you will catch VICTIM and become v v whingey.

fishie · 05/02/2008 12:10

dh has become addicted to vanessa

he quotes her at me

scattercushion · 05/02/2008 12:11

YANBU

sagacious · 05/02/2008 12:17

They say the wife is always the last to know.
I think he's been doing it in secret for some time now.
All this time I've thought he's been in Hunstanton on his conferences and he's been hoarding the filthy things

He came home covered in newsprint the other day.

OP posts:
Boco · 05/02/2008 12:20

Can you change the locks?

TigerFeet · 05/02/2008 12:26

I understand that he's your dh and that you love(d) him, but you must report his behaviour to The Authorities. This cannot go on unchecked, particularly if he's doing it in public.

My Mum reads the DM. I did the right thing. I do miss her though but it was for the best.

hunkermunker · 05/02/2008 12:29

DH fingered a copy at the weekend.

I'd rather it had been another woman, frankly.

I hissed, "Put that filthy rag down and come away" but I fear he has developed a fascination - forbidden fruit and all that

OP, you know what you have to do.

cestlavie · 05/02/2008 13:01

I hate to say this but I've heard you can get it over the internet now as well, as if the printed materials weren't disturbing enough. They even have forums where the so-called readers can exchange their twisted and warped views.

Check his internet history carefully.

curlywurlywee · 05/02/2008 13:13

Please put me right on something. I know you lot are only joking about this and it is a light hearted thread but, WHAT'S SO WRONG ABOUT THE DAILY MAIL. Am I so working class or thick that I don't get the joke?

Please don't castigate me (can't be that thick using a word like that!!). I just need an explanation.

CountessDracula · 05/02/2008 13:14

It is a vile rag of course!

curlywurlywee · 05/02/2008 13:14

Have to admit that I read it this morning and felt quite miserable afterwards. Read it in a very posh retail outlet over a cappuccino though. Does this make it acceptable?

curlywurlywee · 05/02/2008 13:15

What does an acceptable MNer read then? I obviously need educating.

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 05/02/2008 13:17

We buy it every day. Looks around shiftily. DH needs it for work.

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 05/02/2008 13:17

But we buy the Guardian to actually read of course.

onebatmother · 05/02/2008 13:19

Sagacious - honey - you know you are worth more than this.
Is this really the kind of message you want your dc's to grow up with?

fairylights · 05/02/2008 13:19

what horrific behaviour - not sure what i would do in your position..
why, why, why is he doing it? Is he having a mid life crisis or something??

LilRedWG · 05/02/2008 13:19

At the news stand the other day, DH pointed out that the DM were giving away free Mr. Man books. I was horrified, "But that'd mean actually buying the DM and people might think I read it!!!!! "

Needless to say, DD is still lacking Mr. Men books.

curlywurlywee · 05/02/2008 13:20

RosaLux hooray, or should I say hurrah. Someone else buys it - what kind of work does your dh do?

The Guardian - I know it looks like you're an intelligent person when you buy it but, bloody hell, it's so boring and the stories are so long and tedious and all about deadly politics and financial stuff that no-one (like me) understands.

I though I was a reasonable intelligent woman but I think I need to go away and take a close look at myself.

WideWebWitch · 05/02/2008 13:23

Leave him

and may I refer you to this?

lionheart · 05/02/2008 13:23

I think you should be able to negotiate and reach some kind of compromise except for

the fact that he is doing this in full public view.

He's too far gone.

sagacious · 05/02/2008 13:25

I just feel dirty
Its been in the same house as me
He's read it in our bed.

Rosa, don't delude yourself, perhaps a change of career is in order

Curly It may not be too late... step away from the headlines

I'm off to buy a large shovel

OP posts:
onebatmother · 05/02/2008 13:30

Rosa! Don't they have Andrex in shop?
