Following on from the thread “What makes you jealous of others?” (I had plenty!) How about this instead. Reading what some people were jealous of made me actually feel quite lucky! So I’ll go first… this isn’t a boast but surely it’s nice to look at what we love about ourselves.. might give me a little evening boost to hear yours too…

-I have been told I am quite attractive and definitely get a lot of attention from the opposite sex. It’s taken me a long time to accept (especially after being cheated on and bullied at school) but finally I have noticed the attention and can accept that I’m pretty.
-I can sing. I don’t often in front of people but have been told previously that I have a lovely voice and it’s my favorite thing to do.. am just not confident enough to do it publicly that often!
-I have a good figure… I don’t restrict my diet or exercise much (although I’ve just started to for MH reasons more than anything plus I have a heart issue) but am a size 8 and quickly was after I had my son.
-I have a very supporting and loving husband and feel grateful for that every single day.

Your turn…

I'm grateful for my good physical health and for having my parents and sisters be all ok.

Thepeopleversuswork · 13/01/2023 10:29
  • I'm grateful for my resilience: like most people I've had shit things happen to me in my life and have learned from them/improved my life and come away relatively unscathed.
  • I like the fact that the older I've got the less I care about what other people think about me and its made me stronger and more able to take (calculated) risks.
  • I'm extremely grateful for my health: in my early 50s and not (yet) had anything go seriously wrong with my body.
  • Related to #1 but grateful for mental health: I've had ups and downs but lucky enough not to have suffered from clinical depression or a serious MH crisis.
  • I respect myself for having brought up a healthy and happy child (almost) single-handedly with no input from her father and limited input from family.
  • I'm proud of having had two interesting careers which have taken me to interesting places and introduced me to interesting people and have given me sufficient financial stability that I never need to rely on a man for money
  • I'm grateful for having had the opportunity to live and work overseas and to have travelled a lot.

Ooh, I actually like LOADS of things about myself!

Im attractive and I’m confident in that - not in a big headed way but I have been described as beautiful more than once in my life - I feel lucky to have inherited good genes. I also like my boobs and small waist (there are many things I don’t like such as cellulite etc but let’s keep this positive)

I like that my body has produced 4 healthy dc’s and that in general, they are brilliant, well mannered, intelligent kids. I love that they tell me they love me and that I’m a good mum.

I like that I managed to get a nice husband who loves me and puts me and his dc’s first in everything. He supports me in everything I do and complements me every day - and I wouldn’t settle for anything less!

I like that I’m a loyal friend and have a fantastic, funny, clever group of girlfriends who have known one another since childhood.

I like that I’m quite funny and seem to be able to make people laugh and that people find me approachable and down to earth.

I like that I try to see the good in people and tend to err on being on the soft side. I’m the type to tip even after bad service bc I feel sorry for the poorly paid staff - I’m generous. Generosity is one of the qualities I value most in others too.

I like the fact that we have a beautiful home and I enjoy keeping it looking nice and I know dh and the dcs appreciate it.

The thing I am most grateful for is our health - to be healthy is the greatest gift and it’s what I thank God for every day. As long as we are together and have our health we will always be ok.

I could go on but it’s starting to feel a bit braggy so il stop 😂

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 13/01/2023 10:55

I'm grateful that I'm happily married to a good man - and I'm grateful to my mother for raising me to have high self esteem and not settle for anything less.

I'm grateful that I have naturally good teeth.

I'm very, very grateful that we can afford to live in a nice area and not have money worries. We're not rich but we can afford to live comfortably within our means. I grew up poor, this means a lot.

I'm grateful for the (currently) good health of myself and my family.

LittleAlishas · 13/01/2023 11:16

I'm vain AF so I'm happy that I really like the way I look - but it feels wrong to admit things like that doesn't it?!

My MH is rubbish so I definitely feel grateful for my good physical health, and that of my family and friends. We are fortunate ❤️

I'm grateful for my two pregnancies - and my one child that is here, my world, he is what I am most grateful for.

Want2beme · 13/01/2023 11:18

I've seen a thread like this before and I honestly couldn't think of anything at the time. I've given it some thought since then and I'd say about my appearance, I like my green eyes, with their dark limbal rings. My natural hair colour, since I stopped dying it over a year ago - I've inherited this from my mum, who gets a lot of compliments. I'm glad I was considered very attractive/beautiful during my younger years. I never saw it, nor believed it.

I'm grateful for having good health at my age.
I've got a lovely home, in a little, rural, friendly village.
Love animals.
I love my car. It's not flashy, but newish, with lots of bells & whistlesGrin
I'm a soft person, but not a pushover.
That I don't have to rush out every morning to get to work!

LighthouseCat · 13/01/2023 11:31

Grateful for my children. Things are bumpy sometimes (they are teens) but they are so individual, funny and bright. Grateful for relative financial stability and a career I've built up from pretty humble beginnings. Grateful that I'm no longer excruciatingly shy and self-conscious. Grateful that I seem to have a good supply of patience and high resilience. Grateful for my DH and my handful of v close friends. And grateful for the sunshine right now and the meadow I'm going to walk around now : )

ImBlueDab · 13/01/2023 11:34

I have a good, well paying job that's flexible and I enjoy
I am sociable & naturally friendly
I'm a positive person

xogossipgirlxo · 13/01/2023 11:35

Body:

Boobs and general body shape, quite attractive face, my teeth, my hair, my slim fingers.

Mind:
My consistence in doing stuff (like doing sports for many many years), the fact that I am ambitious and keen to learn.

Life:
My amazing, smart, kind, funny extremely talented husband, the fact we're healthy, expecting our first baby, my two lovely cats, my healthy family even though they annoy hell out of me, but everyone is well.

Badger1970 · 13/01/2023 11:47

I'm grateful that somehow I've got an inner strength that I'm really relying on right now (terminally ill parent). I've got through other horrendous situations intact, and I'll get through this too.

I'm also one of those who share their childhoods and get looked at in horror... but I survived it and have raised my own DC in a very different way. I'm incredibly proud of the family that DH and I have made ourselves and we don't rely on anyone else, just each other and always will.

GoodnightJude1 · 13/01/2023 11:57

I have 3 things I like most about myself.

DD22
DD15
DS13

They’re wonderful, hard working, empathetic, kind, funny, generous, loyal, polite, honest children.
I’m very proud of their achievements, I love when DS does well at football or when he gets points at school for hard work or showing kindness to others. I love when DD15 comes home with a massive smile on her face because she did well in a test or was recognised for an excellent piece of homework. I love when DD22 gets through the next assignment in her degree, I love her dedication to her studies and that even though she’s had to overcome some awful things in her life she never complains and is always helping others even when she’s exhausted herself.
I love that even though I’ve made some questionable choices in my life….I’ve raised/am raising 3 amazing children ☺️

FeelingwearyFeeelingsmall · 13/01/2023 11:59

I'm grateful for many things that are largely outside my control (health, family, financial security)

What I like about myself are slightly different things to the things I'm grateful for - having been a very plain child/teenager with spots, pudding basin hair, NHS beer bottle glasses living in jumble sale and handmedowns I like that I'm now good looking. It's hard work and I am pretty high maintenance but it's worth it to be pleasantly surprised by what I see in the mirror.

on a less superficial level I like that I have so many wonderful friends, some quite new, some dating back 40 or 50 years. When I doubt myself I take comfort in the fact that I must be a nice person for so many wonderful people to like me and want to spend time with me.

popyourcollar · 13/01/2023 13:29

I like about myself that I am intelligent - I usually find it easy to figure things out. My brain has also allowed me to build a decent career and support myself. I like that I'm non-judgemental and a good listener. I've got unusual hair which I now love. I like that I'm independent and feel that I could probably deal with most things that life throws at me.

I'm so grateful for my DS and our relationship - I feel incredibly lucky to have him in my life. I'm grateful that I generally feel safe and that I have had a life without any major trauma. I am really lucky to have great, supportive colleagues. I'm grateful for my friendships which mean a huge amount, and for having a lovely sister. I'm also grateful to live in a city where I have really good access to nature everyday.

AngryGoblin · 13/01/2023 13:40

What I like about myself:

I'm intelligent
I'm loyal
I have high integrity
I'm a good friend
I'm hardworking and reliable
I'm told I'm good company
I'm empathetic and kind
I'm imaginative and creative
I'm a good parent - my adult kids have actually told me this! Hurrah, maybe in their 30s they'll start telling me where I went wrong but right now I'll take the compliment

Grateful for:
Lovely husband, happy marriage
A good job, which is well paid and interesting
A house I love
My good health
Some great friends, some going back 50 years
My lovely children and other family

I’m so lucky we have equity in our house.
I’m so lucky everything worked out for me today at work and it wasn’t the stressful mess it could have been.
I like that I’m kind and thoughtful.
I like that I’ve looked pretty young for my age for most of my life.
I like that I’m now AF after spending far too long drinking far too much.

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 13/01/2023 22:09

Wow! What a deep question and one that I am having difficulty answering!! 😬

I am grateful that although I came from a poor single parent family I was very loved. My mum is still alive and is a good listener.

I'm so glad I have a good brain and a Latham a bit lazy passed the 11+ and went to a great school which opened my eyes.

I'm glad I had a car accident when I was 21 which enabled me to pay for go to university without too much hardship and I got better.

All these experiences made me determined to improve my life and now have two clever & beautiful daughters and a husband of many years.

My next project is to finish a book which I hope will help in the next wave of feminism and gives practical and anecdotal evidence and advice so that us women achieve their true potential and change the world. It's a big dream but someone's got to do it, I just need some strong marketing to get it launched so we all have happier and more fulfilling lives...! 😘

Xtraincome · 13/01/2023 22:15
  • I like my curly hair, blue eyes, thick thighs and large bum.
  • I have good self-esteem although am a bit bigger than I'd like at present I constantly project good energy and take all compliments on board. Not just for myself but for my DDs too. I want them to see their mum as self-assured, even when I may not be.
  • I make people laugh a lot and it makes me happy- bit of a clown
  • I'm a good mum, good wife, good daughter and good best friend.
  • I am a good cook
  • I am (slowly becoming) a good writer
KimberleyClark · 13/01/2023 22:22

I am grateful to have my husband, a comfortable home, no real money worries, no major health worries. And to have come to a place of peace and contentment after not being able to have children.

mynamesnotMa · 14/01/2023 11:16

Have a career I enjoy.
Intelligent
Loyal.
Attractive
I am witty appararantly
Financially solvent
Fierce when required.
Empathetic.
Independent

mamabear715 · 14/01/2023 11:25

I've had a hard-ish life but wouldn't change anything, it's made me the person I am now. Patience, empathy, childlike delight at fun things, love summer, walking in woods, paddling in streams or sea, things that cost nothing but mean everything.
My appearance, meh, who cares? As long as my bod carries on doing it's job without too much pain, I'm happy!

whatisforteamum · 14/01/2023 11:52

I'm slim and have discipline to stay like this size 8 _10
I have 2 lovely adult dcs
I have stamina to pull a 13 hour day in my mid 50s
Good physical heath....
I'm a happy morning person despite getting up at 440 am.
Mortgage is paid.
On a personal side I can think outside the box and love cleaning so it is never a chore.😄

MotherOfVizslas · 14/01/2023 11:55

I'm in fairly good nick health-wise, I'm very grateful for that! I'm grateful for my lovely children and mostly-lovely husband. Oh, and I like my hair, it's very long, thick and wavy like a mermaid🥰

InBerlin · 14/01/2023 11:57

I am very grateful DM is still alive and healthy (ish). I don't know what I'd do without her. I work two jobs, often going straight from night shift to day shift and she cares for DC. I'm very grateful to her.

HoppingAndHoping · 14/01/2023 12:13
  1. My "brain" / my ability to learn knew things, do the work I do etc.
  2. Certain character traits. A certain amount of assertiveness. Empathetic.
  3. Good with (foreign) languages (Yes, point 2 & 3 could be seen as a repeat of the 1rst one)
  4. Financial security
  5. I like my face. Especially nose, lips, eyes and eyebrows!
  6. Nice bum
  7. A lot of hair (on my head 😅)
  8. Really good dental health and tooth position. (especially because my mother has a severe gum disease)

Different category:

For my wonderful DP! That my parents are still alive and some of my grandparents as well.
To have a good relationship with my brothers (unfortunately not my sister).
So very grateful for my childhood best friend who I am still super close to. Grateful for my friends and everyone else who is dear to me.
Grateful that I'm able to afford good health care within a reasonable amount of time and having gotten the support of a great team of professionals. Which has allowed me to deal with some health issues => on a very good path nowadays and feel great / am already pretty healthy.
