Wearing hats indoors at Work.

Aquarius1234 · 10/01/2023 22:40

This has probably been covered before.
But in this day and age is it ok to wear hats in the office/ work environment.
Or just in general like in restaurants, cinemas etc.
Would you judge someone that started wearing a hat to work. Regardless of the weather.?

I know loads of people in the tech/media industries (and, come to think of it, civil service) who wear hats
Government troubleshooter Stetson or Homburg of sober enquiry?

I wear many hats at work

@Aquarius1234 - What on earth does this mean??? Does it affect your condition wearing a hat all the time ?

I heard it might make scalp conditions worse if wearing a hat inside and outside.
I'm not saying my condition.

I wear a hat at work. We get issued with a company baseball cap and beanie.

I just wear my own though. Especially if I'm having a bad hair day.

But I'm not office based.

Cool. My problem is once a hat is on it can't come off. Unless I go home and sort hair out.

Hahaha that’s exactly what I was wondering!

I want a full description of the civil service hats.

I'm fair skinned so absolutely need a hat outdoors for protection in spring/ summer . It's just inside gets annoying at times.

My grandparents always said we had to take hats off inside as it’s rude to wear it inside.
For that reason I’d never wear a hat indoors 😂
Don’t give a toss what other people do though, there are loads of reasons why I can think of meaning people want to wear a hat indoors - just something I’d choose not to do myself.

Yes I'd think they were a twat. Twat in a hat.

I don’t know why this is so funny, but it really is.

Are you quite OK OP, this is the second bizarre thread you have started in two days?

Aquarius1234 · 10/01/2023 23:18

I do think similar threads have been started before regarding wearing hats inside.

OP- so you are saying that people that prefer/need to wear hats for their work have scalp conditions???

Do you have a hat fetish OP? Your post is making no sense at all!

Regularsizedrudy · 10/01/2023 23:20

What are you actually asking it’s all very cryptic. Do you want to wear a hat or not? What kind of job is it?

I used to work in an office where a young man wore a beanie hat indoors. I thought it made him look like a dick. You’re at work not down the pub.

AndyWarholsPiehole · 10/01/2023 23:21

Wearing a hat when not outside is incredibly rude.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 10/01/2023 23:21

industries I can think of where it’s normal are warehousing, driving jobs, delivery jobs, distribution centres, food production centres, plus he automotive industry, gardening sectors, maintenance sector, loads of trades. Even in offices of these industries. Probably not so common in customer facing roles and not where it maybe a health and safety issue.

Notwashingup · 10/01/2023 23:21

I wear a baseball cap in our office, we have strip lights that give me migraine so it helps. Not a formal office though. There's a few beanie wearers when it's cold

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 10/01/2023 23:24

My sister wears a hat to work.

She is a chef though 👩‍🍳

I'm a lawyer, we don't do hats, only wigs.

Sounds a similar environment to mine.
I don't have the light on above me. As don't like office lighting. Don't think it's weird I prefer natural daylight.

Generally if you have an indoor job you don’t wear a hat (obviously alopecia issues etc would be fine). You may not get pulled up on it if it’s a relaxed office and I wouldn’t treat you any differently with work interactions, if it was ok with boss, I’m not here to judge your dress choices. On the other hand I would quietly think you were a twat. There was one guy in our office who wore a outdoor scarf 80% if the time, liked the guy, knew him well but because of the scarf always made me think he must be a bit of a twat…. (Also just to point out absolutely no sn involved just a style statement.)

I used to wear a beret at work in my last job.

Sounds different.

Makes sense if you FTFT. OP was replying to a specific poster who said she had alopecia.

So is your issue that you have to wear a hat outside and then you get hat hair and don't want to rake it off inside?

If so try a silk lined baseball cap, it will case less hat hair

Haha I used to have a friend that worse a winter beanie hat in summer inside and out. Thick head of hair.
Least change your style of hat with the summer/ winter.
Oh and worse a winter coat all through the year.
