To think the new British Airways uniform (announced today) is awful?

The options are either a jumpsuit all in one or what is basically a suit and skirt. The males are fine with their suit but us the girls have been screwed over. Myself and pretty much every other crew member I know think it’s awful, we’ve been told if we don’t agree to wear it then our contracts will be terminated. Nothing feminine about it. Your fine wearing the suit if your a man but us females will look so manly it’s terrible!

I think they are lovely uniforms.

How about they asked the cabin crew themselves to design a uniform. Men do the men's and women's do the women's! Vote on the most popular! Most popular wins. Mad I know

It’s not cutting edge fashion but surely if you want to wear a decent outfit, air hostess isn’t a job you pick. The uniforms always look shite.

This is would hope too. Ex BA here and I wouldn’t like that purely on a practical level. I like the idea of trousers too ( wasn’t allowed them in my day).

Nah that's far too logical.

It would also mean they couldn't brag about the designer they used and detail the whole design process.

In hindsight it would be super sensible and produce a uniform which would be comfortable and practical and cost the company next to nothing.

I had to Google to find out what the current uniform is and there were no pictures of hijabs/ ‘modest’ dress. I don’t work for BA so no idea what choices staff are given but I do think it should be promoted and offered as a choice equal to the other choices, for all staff

They’re certainly ugly, but a lot of uniforms are ugly.

However the bigger issue is that they look rather impractical.

Whaaaat I would be fuming! The mens is really nice, the womens options are all hideous. What on earth were they thinking? Must be someone who hates women.

It's indeed ghastly, and a jumpsuit is the absolute last thing I personally would consider wearing on a plane.

I agree that the old uniform is better. Woman should be allowed to look feminine and not just put in a clunky skirt. Agree also for woman’s trouser suit that’s tailored. New uniform isn’t something I would like to wear.

That blouse and skirt combo look like a shitty school uniform. Jumpsuit unflattering and utterly impractical. And you can't have trousers unless they're men's trousers!!? WTF?? The dress is just about ok.

Where does it say that women can only have men's trousers?

The dress isn't horrific (and at least it has pockets!), but I don't understand why there wasn't an option for a two/three-piece trouser suit for female crew.

Jumpsuits are Satan's own clothing choice at the best of times, never mind in the hell cupboard that is a plane loo.

Also, that tie/cravat thing is going to need a hell of a lot of discreet safety pins to keep it in place, unless you want to be dangling it in people's soup.

Yes, as do the women’s trousers with the blue shirt top. They are quite nice. They are fitted and tailored. If anything is wrong with the women’s uniform, it’s the heels. They are in all the uniform pictures I’ve seen, at a glance. Can women wear shoes without heels?
