These aren't the same boots are they?!

OK so I was looking at brown doc martens with my Christmas money.

THERE WERE THESE ON DM WEBSITE

AND THESE ON SCHUH

Now the ones on DM website, the chunky sole and tag is black.

The ones on SCHUH have a brown sole? And a brown tag

I like them much more but they've just arrived and the sole is black.

Am I going mad or are these two different shoes and SCHUH have sent me the ones that are the same as the DM site?

But I don't think anyone disagrees they look different - quite clearly one is black and one is brown. That is not to say both pairs definitely exist though. We've all bought things that look nothing like how they were advertised.

But why are there 2 pairs of the same shoe on schus Google that look the same but different colours.

Why have they edited the boots to look brown and then listed them 'normally' too?

I buy a lot of Docs and yes, they've sent you the wrong ones. The ones with the dark sole are the platform version and the ones you ordered are not.

My guess is that Schuh accidentally used the wrong photograph on their website, so while they've sent you the boot that matches their product listing ID, it is not the boot in the picture.

That's what I think too.

But I can't find the others anywhere.

Sorry - another breaking in tip.

if you take a bar of soap, dry, and rub it inside the heels of the shoes (any shoes, not just DMs) it stops the rubbing. You need to repeat a few times. It’s both a leather softener and also provides a bit of a ‘glide’ rather than a rub.

I'm sure I read about hitting them with a hammer too 🤔😂

Even more confused now. Thanks DM 😂

Why don't you ask DM what the style number is for the brown ones and then send that to Shuch to ask specifically for that style to be send to you.

Schuh have said that it's a light issue.

They're the same boots.

Not in a million years.

Send them back and order through DM.

They're not on DM website.

I'm just returning them. Can't be bothered.

Odd that the reply from DM says you've been sent the black version when the leather of your boots is clearly burgundy? Also odd that Schuh would have a burgundy/brown version that DM themselves don't stock?

I think the DM person themselves is a little confused and as others have said the Schuh photo is misleading, and that the burgundy version only comes with black soles, tag and laces.

I know. They clearly haven't bothered to even look properly.

I'm over it. I'm just returning them.

They're far too similar to my all black ones to justify keeping them.

If DM don’t sell them, they don’t exist and it is definitely a lighting issue.

Completely unrelated to your query OP but so many DM lovers on this thread so thought I'd ask.....is the zip insert available to buy from anywhere to change lace up DMs to the zip ones? I see the ones from Schuh come with the zip insert and would love to buy one for my other DMs to change them up a bit.

Stranrahh · 07/01/2023 19:32

They're the same colour aren't they?! Same laces and brown sole but they're a different style.

I don't know if DM do an official set but there's a lady on Facebook, Badger's Sewing Shed.

And she makes them.

She does any colour, any number of eyelets etc

No they’re definitely not the same, not from the photos and especially not from the details of the label/laces in your other posts, no idea what some posters on here are on about “same with different lighting”, yeh gaslighting maybe!

RichardsGear · 08/01/2023 15:01

Gaslighting my arse 😂. Of course they are the same. Google those boots and the two images I've attached come up - one from Dr Marten and one from Schuh. They are identical. Then when you click through on the Schuh one it takes you to the page where they look brown soled (but they're obviously not). Do you really think Schuh sell an exclusive version that isn't available via the actual Dr Marten company itself?

RichardsGear · 08/01/2023 15:03

Dr Martens, rather.
