Smoking outside front door - why?

Purchased and moved into a new build development. Quite a few council houses on estate. No issue at all, all seem nice, but I don’t want to ask this question to my neighbours but am curious…

why do council house tenants stand outside their front doors to smoke? There are no front gardens, so almost on pavement for all to see. They’re all semi’s and have private gardens so could smoke outside in private gardens but all seem to do it outside their front doors.

again, just curious, not judging. AIBU to ask if there’s a logical reason?

Depends where you live. My local council have new build properties. (Scotland, where right to buy no longer exists)

Because CH are free and they need to spend all their benefits on ciggies to annoy the home owners.

Im actually a smoker too so not judging and I’ve never seen people stand outside their front doors smoking before. Im genuinely curious why and yes, I don’t see owner residents doing it.

Probably the kids bedrooms are at the back.
Smoking out front means less chance of the smoke smell getting in?

I live in a cul de sac with a good number of smokers and / or dog owners. Most smokers smoke at their front door and pass the time of day with other smokers and passing dogs and their owners.
I smoke at the back door because I'm anti social and am not keen on dogs!

Because of the pit bulls.

Anyway, they have to smoke outside the front door because their massive TVs take up all the space inside.

I think you get allocated a pit bull if they've run out of goats.

I wish mine smoked out the front but alas, they own their houses.

If I lived by those who were regularly out the front, I would find that intimidating and wouldn't want to leave my house!
