Person A was at my house yesterday and I made us both a cup of tea, I was then needed upstairs by my DD so I told person A to help themselves to a bit of chocolate out the fridge and I'd be back in about 5 mins. In the fridge there is a drawer full of assorted chocolate bars, there was also an unopened galaxy selection box. Person A opened the selection box and had a chocolate bar from that. As per the title I've no perspective as I despise Person A who unfortunately has regular reason to be in my house and whom I have to be civil to 🙄 so am i being unreasonable?

Yes you offered chocolate and Person A had chocolate what's the issue

No clearly you meant out of the drawer and you don't open someone's selection box

I'm not seriously annoyed btw it's just to gain perspective as I think Person a has been a cheeky twat lol

Your ex has no manners but technically he was right.

Eugh I liked the start of that sentence but you ruined it with the ending 😂

You offered, he took. Maybe time to instill boundaries so he sees dc elsewhere.

it’s irritating, possibly passive aggressive, and the kind of thing that would stoke murderous rage in me if the wrong person did it.

Excellent reply. I agree with this.

I'd love to but unfortunately that's not an option at the moment and to go into detail would be a whole new thread that definitely wouldn't be a lighthearted joke post like this but more of a do you know how to hide a body type post......

I somehow missed this response but yep absolutely nailed it and sums up the situation perfectly

Were the other bars big ones? I’d be more likely to take an individual bar from
a selection box than to break into a big bar.

GalwayShawl · 31/12/2022 19:08

You sound insufferably mean

YABU for keeping chocolate in the fridge

This is such a MN answer 🤣

Yeah it's a drawer full of a vast assortment of chocolate bars

Given you think Person A is a twat, you should have offered him week-old Brussels sprouts out of your food compost bin rather than chocolate of any description out of your fridge.

Be more specific with people like that, and don't offer them your nice things. They're not nice to you. Save all the chocolate for you and your DD (who I assume you do like).

Headabovetheparakeet · 31/12/2022 19:13

I don't think he did anything wrong here. Why offer him chocolate at all?

nonevernotever · 31/12/2022 19:15

SlagathaChristie · 31/12/2022 15:38

I'm sorry to derail, but what is a chocolate drawer in a fridge? Have you given the vegetable crisper over to your chocolate collection? If so I'm impressed and disgusted in equal measures.

My sister has always done this! One salad drawer for chocolate bars and the other for cans of iron bru.... Both her daughters list vegetables as their favourite foods......

Ineedtosleep79 · 31/12/2022 19:18

A bit unreasonable I think sorry. I sympathise though I know judgement can be cloudy when you have background feelings. Its an easy misrake to make and if a guest is in your home it would be more usual to offer them a chocolate from a selection box rather than some random chocolate bar, particularly as it's Christmas...if you understand what I mean.

Justcallmebebes · 31/12/2022 19:20

You have a drawer full of chocolate?? I don't like chocolate so rarely have it in the house but you told her to help herself and she helped herself, ergo, you are unreasonable

MummyInTheNecropolis · 31/12/2022 19:26

If your ex also enjoys chocolate from the fridge then I think you should get back together, you’re unlikely to ever find someone else who shares this bizarre and perverse kink.

😂😂😂😂

PollyPut · 31/12/2022 19:30

YABU If they opened the fridge and saw the galaxy, but not chocolate bars in a drawer, then it's reasonable for them to eat the galaxy.

You chose to offer them chocolate.

catandcoffee · 31/12/2022 19:37

OP you need to buy a beer fridge for your chocolate, put it in your bedroom and tell person A (aka dickhead) you've given up chocolate.

Who stores chocolate in the fridge and even worse Tea with chocolate....yabu.

ShadowoftheFall · 31/12/2022 19:38

We’re a dairy free house, so I don’t ever have chocolate in, but it’s a revelation to me to learn that a selection box is a personal item which should never be sullied by anyone other than it’s owner.

WhatDoYouWantNow · 31/12/2022 19:40

Cheeky to have opened a box of chocolates. Lesson to be learned - always stash your chocolate away somewhere out of sight, and NEVER offer any to anyone

KickAssAngel · 31/12/2022 19:46

I suspect he has a history of always taking the best of whatever is on offer, so of course this is annoying. Luckily, you can buy replacements from the shop.

In fact, start messing with him. Set yourself up with a concealed stash of what you like, and fill that drawer with brussel sprouts.

itsgettingweird · 31/12/2022 19:49

You don't need any more comments on if UABU or not. You've got it!

However I have to applaud you on your responses and your sense of humour about this. I specifically laughed at you admitting even him breathing annoys you and UABU for keeping chocolate in the fridge Grin

Happy new year.

Perhaps the year you put some firm boundaries in place for him. Flowers
