Anyone else having a few more chocolates, another glass of wine, and of course the bottle of Baileys must be finished before the new year!

On Jan 1st I will completely stop all alcohol for one month..but obviously not including those drinking in the new year few glasses of whatever is your tipple…only starts when you wake up on the 1st obviously!!

I will start jogging every day and eat healthily. The start of a new me.

Am I being unreasonable to say this every year and every year to be weak and never manage it?

Do you have the same thoughts and actually achieve your goals? Or are you like me!

If you eating and drinking all the "treats" you're body will crave when you go cold turkey

Ukelele101 · 29/12/2022 22:29

I’m hoping to turn a corner too! I just want all the treats etc out the way!!
You can do it! x

EatsYummySprouts · 29/12/2022 22:30

Thank you..I will be trying…

Pick something realistic. And start today.

EatsYummySprouts · 29/12/2022 22:31

You can do it too :)

@EatsYummySprouts
I'm so like you it's scary😂

OatFox · 29/12/2022 22:32

Start small habits now. Today.

Want to jog? Do a YouTube step workout in the living room. Want to drink more water? Add two pints to your daily life now.

I understand about the treats but the other bits? Get to it!

TheLittlestLightOnTheXmasTree · 29/12/2022 22:32

So no big New Year's Day dinner with all the trimmings and pudding?

snowday01 · 29/12/2022 22:32

Count me in - totally overindulged over Christmas and for the whole of December if I am honest. Cutting back after New Years Day, going to start tracking steps and making healthier choices. I think I'm going to use NutraCheck to start calorie counting to keep me on the right path too. I've done this before but have to admit I've been finding it so hard to get motivated the last few months

imalreadygone · 29/12/2022 22:32

Just stop eating all the shit now?

imalreadygone · 29/12/2022 22:34

Chuck em in the foodbank?

Crackof · 29/12/2022 22:34

Let 2023 be the year you decide that you're always good, no matter what you eat. That no food is bad. That there is no wagon. And that you can enjoy your appetites and your body and your life and also fall in love with health and fitness.

Crackof · 29/12/2022 22:35

Happy new year x

Squarerootofpi · 29/12/2022 22:36

Trying to make major life changes in the depths of winter is often destined to fail! We're meant to be hibernating now. Exercise and healthy eating is much easier in the Spring when the days are longer. Make tiny changes now in preparation for a full life overhaul in springtime.

Americano75 · 29/12/2022 22:39

I'm doing no chocolate January, hopefully give my big fat arse the jump-start that it so badly needs.

blackpearwhitelilies · 29/12/2022 22:39

I feel completely unappreciated and messed about this Christmas and am feeling v grumpy indeed. Right now my New Year’s resolution is to be completely selfish and do whatever I please. (I may see reason by Sunday, but this remains to be seen.)

blackpearwhitelilies · 29/12/2022 22:40

I am also a fat, lazy bastard who could well do with the goals the rest of you are talking about.

Yes, this!
I tend to start mine at Chinese New Year (I'm not Chinese!) as it's usually February time when the days are getting longer and the hint of spring is more tangible.
Plus you need to make your goals things you actually have some hope of sticking to. Start with small changes, when these are embedded move it up a notch.
That said, I'm as likely to commit to things I'll fail at. My goal is to spend less time on my phone and more time doing anything other than being on my phone!

My Jan 2022 resolution was to lose weight and get a promotion- I lost 4 stone and did get a 7k payrise and just started a new interesting job from a sideways move which has promise of promotion- so 2023 is 2 more stone, improve fitness (already been working hard on fitness but been ill since September including hospital stays so aim to get back to where i was and tone up) and get the promotion.

You can do it op!

GTFO with your tales of amazing success, losers only on this thread!

PotatoScone1 · 29/12/2022 22:46

I’m going teetotal in the new year. I’m going to make 2023 the year I regain my mental health.

But I’m going to enjoy my holiday from work so I’ll be starting on the 9th.
