To really dislike female radio DJs?

I either find them hugely irritating, mindlessly positive and over enthusiastic and insincere like Zoe Ball ( have to turn her off in the morning,she's too much and I fear she's going to spontaneously combust with over excitement ) Elaine Paige ( with her incredibly annoying gurgling laugh), Sara Cox and Lisa Tarbuck ( with her stupid zany voices, cringe ) or insufferably earnest and pretentious like Jo Wiley or Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music.

Tbf I did like Annie Mac, Annie Nightingale and Janice Long but that's probably because they seemed genuinely into the music they played and weren't twats.

I'm probably being unreasonable but I honestly can't bear to listen to them!

Yabu not to like Liza Tarbuck, fucking great show.

Basically whoever said they hate all DJs is right, we just want to listen to the music! Of the ones mentioned, I like Mary Ann Hobbs the most, though she does sound like a female version of Brian Cox (smile talking).

I fi d all radio DJs irritating! The job seems to attract a certain type of person who I'd really dislike in real life.

I wouldn't say I dislike all women DJs but I haven't found any I really like. And I can say there are quite a few male DJs I don't like either, but it seems that I dislike more women DJs for the most part.

It’s that slightly husky London “media voice” thing. You hear it in lots of ads, too. I think it started with Dani Behr back in the 90s. There’s an incredibly irritating lilt to it, I’d associate it with the ladette scene. Of which many of the DJs you mentioned were a part of.

Steve Wright was awful! He’s been doing the same show since about 1986. He still talks over the end of all the songs.

I can’t be doing with most DJs, Spotify is life. Jo Wiley and Chris Moyles are the absolute worst for me.
I do like Toby Tarrant on Radio X though.

I bloody love Vanessa Feltz and miss her on Radio London.

Also love Jo Good who I also miss our schedules clash.

Radio London have replaced some great read hosts (Robert Elms) with some very boring female ones. I turn off.
All tedious boring, no charm no charisma. Salma, Shay etc. Dull Dull Dull.

I don’t like listening to Zoe Ball, love Sara Cox and Liza Tarbuck though.

I often listen to my local BBC radio station, BBC WM, and had to stop listening at breakfast time until recently because an over-excited over-enthusiastic female presenter called Elise Evans was given the job as breakfast host. She didn’t last very long before being replaced, but didn’t disappear for long though and now randomly ‘appears’ as a stand in presenter.
Caroline Martin on late night local BBC stations in the Midlands is excellent.

No they haven't. Robert Elms, who just repeats himself endlessly - yes we know you hung out with some cool people in the 70s and your wife is a photographer, but enough, already - has been replaced by Eddie Nestor, who is an excellent and really polished broadcaster.

I do miss Joanne Good though but I guess they need to appeal to a range of listeners and age ranges and Salma and Shay are younger.

Vanessa Feltz is also excellent and very professional and we were lucky to have her for so long on a local radio network. It probably takes a while to find someone to replace a presenter who's that good.

It was always such a treat when she sat in for Jeremy Vine.

I cannot stand Zoe Ball or Sarah Cox (especially the latter with her stupid rhyming thing she does every fucking day - just NO - DON'T - you aren't funny or clever and it makes me want to strangle you)

I actually enjoyed the period of mourning on Radio 2 (post Queen's demise) as Zoe Ball spoke quietly and wasn't as annoying as usual...

For women they have to be 'nice' . If they're not they get such a raw deal. Naga Muchetty to my mind gets a pummelling everytime she breathes it seems. Its all I ever see of headlines about her. Whereas if its a male well they can be a bit crabbit and that's not a problem.

I'm not a big fan of Zoe Ball but think Sara Cox and Liza Tarbuck come across less 'eager to please' and more natural. Personally I love Elaine Paiges dirty laugh...it makes me laugh ...but then I don't get to listen to any radio (sadly) regularly anymore. Life changes. Maybe if I heard it all the time I'd go off it.

I'm more a fan of the off peak radio people i think they seem more relaxed and nonchalant.

I’m with you when it comes to Zoe Ball and Elaine Page. Zoe is just dreadful “aren’t I mad … and look at all my famous mates…my mates, I have a considerably much better life than you”. Elaine Page and her fake laugh - cringe.

Cant stick Jeremy Vine, he never challenges anyone .. even people who are factually incorrect .. I think he’s just dim.

Scott Mills is boring AF - I was pleased Steve Wright went, but what a terrible replacement.

Ken Bruce is one of the few reasons I carry on listening.

I like Liza Tarbuck too … and “Woo Gary Davies” (who I think is in for Zoe for the next couple of weeks)
