To really dislike female radio DJs?

I either find them hugely irritating, mindlessly positive and over enthusiastic and insincere like Zoe Ball ( have to turn her off in the morning,she's too much and I fear she's going to spontaneously combust with over excitement ) Elaine Paige ( with her incredibly annoying gurgling laugh), Sara Cox and Lisa Tarbuck ( with her stupid zany voices, cringe ) or insufferably earnest and pretentious like Jo Wiley or Mary Anne Hobbs on 6 Music.

Tbf I did like Annie Mac, Annie Nightingale and Janice Long but that's probably because they seemed genuinely into the music they played and weren't twats.

I'm probably being unreasonable but I honestly can't bear to listen to them!

Maybe you should just listen to the radio less

I feel the same about female DJ’s. I would say I probably find 90% of female DJs annoying and about 50% of male DJS similarly annoying.

My toddler loves Sarah Cox and hated Jeremy Vine.
He's got good taste.

I'm sorry but Liza Tarbuck is in a different league !! She is fucking amazing !! The ONLY thing that gets this dedicated Radio 4 listener to turn to the dark side ..

Ok, male radio DJs, Ken Bruce is harm less, reminds me of Terry Wigan and I love Popmaster. Jeremy Vine is an opinionated idiot. Scott Mills is boring as fuck. Only male DJs I actually like are Trevor Nelson as I like his music and he's self deprecating and warm. Same with O J Borg.

I want to be best mates with Sara cox. Her sense of humour gets me so much and she is one of the few people who has me laughing out loud when I have the radio on. Her old 80s show had some brilliantly funny moments.

It really isn’t gender specific. Jo Whiley is fake & awful. Zoe Ball is dreadful. Chris Evans is incredibly irritating. Chris Moles is a prick.

Clara Amfo is superb. Liza Tarbuck is great. Ken Bruce is a peerless master broadcaster. Greg James is Ken’s heir apparent as king of the airwaves.

Diana Luke on Boom Radio is lovely. Very mellow, soothing Canadian accent, does the 10pm to midnight show four nights a week.
I think some younger female DJs just sound deaperate, overexcited and insincere because they are trying too hard, having had a struggle to get airtime in a misogynist industry.

Completely agree. Awful traits in a person. Especially a woman!

It can be due to the vocal register/timbre. The voices of the female presenters on the classical stations definitely lean more towards the soft alto rather than shrieking higher pitched. I also despise the Moyles/Evans style radio shows that made them so much money.

This! DH loves 6 Music (although I think he sometimes puts it on to wind me up tbh) and I wanted to chuck stuff at the radio when these two are on - it's just so pretentious!

I agree some seem to try too hard and others are too loud and shriek a lot trying to be zany and funny.
However there are ,equally,some awful male dj's too who are irritating.
It's just whose voice you like I guess.
