Someone can't cook?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/12/2022 15:56

Well I don't think pulled pork really goes with roast trimmings, but I'm all for people eating what they enjoy rather than cooking a traditional Xmas dinner!

Iamblossom · 27/12/2022 15:56

I would be delighted if someone has gone to the effort of providing me with a meal and reminded anyone being rude enough to judge it that cooking does not come naturally to everyone.

Fritilleries · 27/12/2022 15:57

Sad.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 27/12/2022 15:57

I’d be fine with that.

People rarely cook for me and if they do I like to make the best of it.

WhoopItUp · 27/12/2022 15:57

I’d be grateful someone hosted me for a change even if I didn’t like the food 🤷🏻‍♀️

Newuser82 · 27/12/2022 15:58

We used frozen roasties and Yorkshire's but we had fresh veg, mashed potato, pigs in blankets, fresh turkey. Everyone said it was lovely. We just tried to save time in preparation.

OnceBitten25 · 27/12/2022 15:59

It wouldn't be what I'd make but as a guest I'd be grateful that someone cooked for me tbh

pharaohrocher · 27/12/2022 16:00

The drinks selection is fine.

The rest isn't going to win any culinary awards and the pulled pork is an unusual choice, but it all sounds perfectly edible.

I'd love to have a year off hosting so would be happy to have it made for me tbh.

Muddlingmiddling · 27/12/2022 16:00

Sounds nice apart from the pulled pork but that's a personal preference

Dacadactyl · 27/12/2022 16:00

Wouldn't be my cup of tea at all, but as PP say, I would be glad I'd not had to cook it.

thelobsterquadrille · 27/12/2022 16:00

The pulled pork is a bit odd, but the rest wouldn't bother me at all.

Not everyone can cook, or has the facilities and space to produce a full roast dinner.

Dragonskin · 27/12/2022 16:00

Drinks and pud sound ok, the rest sounds awful.

I would assume someone with zero ability to cook was attempting a roast (and was a little confused about what pulled pork was)

Fairislefandango · 27/12/2022 16:00

Any other time I wouldn't be fussed and wouldn't judge, but for Christmas dinner?! Nope.

hattie43 · 27/12/2022 16:01

Not for me but I wouldn't be rude enough to say if I was served it . I couldn't eat the Brussels though they make me gag .

planefullofotters · 27/12/2022 16:01

YABVU not to give any context.

I don’t see the need to go frozen with those bits but it’s hard to comment without knowing the situation.

FarFlungFlamingo · 27/12/2022 16:02

Hugely disappointed. I quite enjoy cooking so the fact that someone else has prepared isn't something I value. I'd far rather make something good myself than be served something mediocre.

Toottooot · 27/12/2022 16:02

Who are you wanting everyone to start bitching about?

EwwSprouts · 27/12/2022 16:02

I'd say you had been to lunch at the home of someone who is possibly working to a tight budget and lacks confidence in the kitchen. Who the heck expects anyone under 70 to make their own Christmas pudding these days?

GettingStuffed · 27/12/2022 16:03

It's not the pulled pork per we that's the problem, it's the serving it with sprouts. It would have been better with an American style salad and maybe succotash

dudsville · 27/12/2022 16:03

Agreed
