Christmas cancelled - WWYD?

We've just found out that my parents in law have the flu. They didn't tell us because they thought they'd be ok, but they're really not up for hosting tomorrow and don't want to pass it on which is fair enough.

So it'll be just DH and I (and the dog) tomorrow. We have zero food (or alcohol!) in because we were meant to be away for a couple of nights.

Wwyd? Just do party food? Get a takeaway? I'm going to have to brave the shops soon!

Youll need to go in today. They close over christmas for two days

My best friend and her husband have Covid, and had 12 people coming for Christmas, which they have obviously had to cancel.

They now have a 5 kg turkey to get through 😳

Sorry, but that sounds absolute bliss!

Take away, party food and go now to buy drinks !

BilaB · 24/12/2022 16:41

Managed to get loads of party food from m&s, some chicken/ potatoes and veg in case we fancy it.

Wasn't too bad actually, I'm quite looking forward to a chilled one. :)

I'm pleased you got a decent haul!
Have a lovely Christmas

Your poor PIL, I hope they are not too unwell and make a full and complete recovery soon.

I'm pretty sure you can manage to feed yourselves for one day of the year, even if you didn't make it to the supermarket before they shut. No freezer food? No fridge food? No pantry stores? Xmas Grin

Cheese and onion toasties with a cup of tea would be perfect, if I was home alone for Christmas.

Thanks! Yes, I hope they aren't feeling too bad ☹️

Oh definitely, it was just so unexpected! I think I felt Christmas Day has to be this big magical day, when in fact it's okay just to eat cheese and lie on the sofa :)
