To wonder how Next can ethically continue to use Evri?

Given the stress that they cause to their customers?

I have just spent over an hour on the phone to them trying to get them to explain why Evri have still not picked up a faulty return a week later, even though they were here today making a delivery from another company (they have even included it in their photo of that on my doorstep) and a replacement due to be delivered a week ago is missing. No response to emails sent to Next’s customer services, so I called them but all they can really say is that they understand how I must feel!

It was supposed to be for Christmas too.

I guess that Evri are the cheapest and that’s all that really matters!

Evri is one of the most reliable here, it's Yodel that causes me issues.

Yodel here too. Parcels always go missing when I use them.

TheHauntedPencilCase · 23/12/2022 19:10

We've had numerous issues with Evri but that's not really an ethical issue is it?

Togyu · 23/12/2022 19:13

It was a branded electrical item sold in lots of places, so not specific to Next.

It’s very difficult to not buy items manufactured in dubious conditions - lots of people preach about avoiding sweatshops whilst posting using their iPhone!

I avoid getting deliveries from evri where possible, it's pretty shocking service in my experience. I think its so hit and miss because of their set up, it also make it hard to complain as well.

Searchingforsunshine · 23/12/2022 19:15

Are you serious?!

Maybe you should read posts properly.

I did say we all buy sweatshop stuff and that you’re not the only one.

But you’re the only moaning about ethics of Next using Evri whilst ignoring tye ethics of giving your money to a sweatshop company.

And the item being sold in lots of different places makes no difference Confused

Togyu · 23/12/2022 19:22

Some of the issues with sweat shops are due to large companies turning a blind eye or not investigating their supply chain properly in order to obtain the largest profit margin - that is the point of saying that the item is sold in lots of different places.

Next isn’t immortal in choosing a carrier that hasn’t got your parcel to you in time. It’s not a moral question.

Wolfiefan · 23/12/2022 19:25

Immoral
Stupid auto correct.

LikeTearsInRain · 23/12/2022 19:30

Hermes (now rebranded as Evri) have always been pure shite

RSintes · 23/12/2022 19:32

It's another of those 🙄

Op - AIBU?

Everyone - yes, very

Op - but I'm really not and now I'm going to argue about it

Togyu · 23/12/2022 19:35

So why isn’t using a courier that is the cheapest and whose bad business model has been widely reported in the media for some time, regardless of the impact on customers, a moral issue, when moral is defined as follows?

Moral: “concerned with the principles of right and wrong behaviour”

Regardless of sweatshops or anything else, which are separate, although not less (or even equally) important issues.

AtTheNursingHome · 23/12/2022 19:35

Don’t be ridiculous. ‘Ethics’ 🙄

Togyu · 23/12/2022 19:36

I will give up now though because I agree that this has turned into a pointless discussion!

My next order of Christmas presents was apparently, on the 21st when it was supposed to be delivered, definitely being delivered in the next 24 hours, according to Next when I called. Then the tracking information disappeared off the website on the 22 and when I phoned it’ll probably maybe be delivered on the 30th. Maybe. Wonderful!

Falalalalalal · 23/12/2022 19:38

I love our Evri driver. Delivers on time, always with a cheerful smile. Honestly love it when I see companies who deliver with Evri. Realise that we may be in the minority though!

MrsMitford3 · 23/12/2022 19:39

I have been very lucky with hermes/evri. knock wood think a lot depends on your individual delivery driver?

No problems with pick ups or deliveries, hope I am not jinxing myself...

MamboJamboWambo · 23/12/2022 19:40

Evri are THE worst company ever. They are absolute shit and you can't get hold of anybody from their company just a poxy bot who redirects you to a useless fucking tracker. Can you tell I'm fucked off with them this year?!

ILoveeCakes · 23/12/2022 19:44

Did you know, they put their drivers under so much pressure they have to do No 2s in McDonalds bags in the back of the van. They leave them next to your stuff then wang them out of the window. They could easily be found by kiddies who can't resist their double cheeseburgers

Same here, though we don't get a cheerful smile. Can't have everything I guess.

We're on first name terms with ours, alas parcels are never for us, we are simply the holding point for next door.

Prettybutdumb · 23/12/2022 19:45

Unfortunately it looks like it depends on where you live. Evri is our favourite courier at the moment, beaten maybe by Amazon. Works like clockwork, our guy is wonderful and always goes the extra mile. I trust Evri enough that I ordered loads of last minute gifts from various websites and somehow they delivered every single one of them, last one last night. Couldn’t fault them.

Janedownourlane · 23/12/2022 19:49

Evri left my parcel, which was a book, whilst we were away for a few days…outside in our back garden in all the snow and frost. We were able to get a refund from the store we bought it from with no problem, but honestly, why didn’t they leave it next door. All the neighbours here take in for each other.

Tinner01 · 23/12/2022 20:30

What defined moral impact does Next using Evri have?? Your parcel being late is not a moral issue, unless that parcel happens to be an organ or other lifesaving medical equipment!

Haha don't they just!! Or bang on about using 'Vinted'!

Sillybeagle · 23/12/2022 20:57

Yes we have shocking Evri service here too. So pissed off that Disney continue to use them. The amount of times I rang to say my child’s Christmas presents (ordered 26th Nov) hadn’t arrived to be told ‘it’s fine, I’ve raised it with head office, have a magical christmas!’ The last time I rang I did have to say ‘well it’s not going to be very bloody magical if her presents aren’t here.’

They reissued the order and 2 days later (yesterday) the new order turned up (yay!) but this was literally how the box looked. The guy delivering apologised and said the parcels had been under a tarpaulin in the rain..
