To uninvite a family member for Christmas dinner due to illness.

I feel really stuck between a rock and a hard place. A family member who was due to have Christmas dinner with us is now unwell after spending time with someone else (staying over) with a household where they knew everyone had awful chest infections/the flu. I feel terrible but have to consider other family members and myself - I really don’t want this horrible bug that’s going around but feel very guilty. AIBU to uninvite them?

In my current situation l would ask then not to come (22 weeks pregnant with twins). Husband gave me a cold a few months ago and l felt terrible plus couldn’t take cold and flu tablets etc like l normally do

It was absolutely fine in the end. I spoke to my relative yesterday and today and they didn’t feel well enough to come over. More local relatives went over for a bit today and I’ve said I’ll go next week when they are feeling properly better.

Actually my son is feeling great, no temp and back to normal. We all went out to a chinese restaurant for dinner (myself, my son and husband). I actually don't agree with the response. But I was raised in a generation when people were more easy going. I think that COVID has turned already OCD personalities into overboard neurotics. They did the same thing to us 2 years ago during COVID when my son had a simple cold. And they missed celebrating 2 Christmas holidays with their only grandson.

Lots if people have suffered horrifically with covid. Glad you haven't, but don't be so rude to those who try to avoid it. It is ignorant and offensive.
