By default a bacon sandwich made by me means bacon between buttered...toast!

It doesn't stick to your palate and feels more substantial.
Am i right?

This. I try to make them at home but never quite achieve it.

Similar to my response to the egg thread - sometimes I toast, sometimes I don't - but I am now inspired by the toast one side posters so will definitely try that.

Having never had the real thing, I'm happy enough with my home made efforts (streaky bacon, cream cheese, sweet chili sauce and whatever flat bread I have available).

Having just googled the recip, I now know why I have a bag of cake flour, apparently the nearest equivalent flour for making the naan.

Crispy streaky bacon fried in olive oil with bread toasted on the one side in a frying pan. So it's crispy on the inside & soft & warm on the outside. Copious amounts of tomato ketchup or reggae reggae sauce. I bundle the bacon up in kitchen towel after cooking to absorb all the excess fat too.

Either can be acceptable

I remember years ago when me and my husband were first going out. He’s was making me a bacon sandwich and his landlord walked into the kitchen and said ‘Can I ask why you’re not toasting the bread?’ I thought it was an odd questions because I never had my bacon sarnies toasted but I guess you’re not the only one OP.

Surely some of these posts need to be taken down as they are criminal. You don’t use mayo or toast ever.

Has to be smoked streaky as well wherever possible. I often do the double bread in one socket thing too, dh introduced me to it.

White bread, untoasted or preferably a decent roll from the bakery. Spoilt Pig or equivalent dry cured smoked bacon. No butter or sauce. A dip in the bacon fat. If the only bread I have in is granary I’d toast it, add butter and either a fried egg or tomato, so it’s bacon and egg on toast.

At home I always made bacon butties with wholemeal bread and no butter/marg because bacon's fatty enough already. Then one day I had a desperate need of a hangover bacon buttie at work... white bread, buttered (because I wasn't on the ball) and OMG the best bacon sandwich I've ever had.

I will concede that lightly toasting one side of the bread only would be okay.

Love toasted bacon sandwiches, the melting butter. I add tomatoes, tinned or fresh, I'm not a pedant.
