If you like bacon sandwiches

MintyGreenDreams · 22/12/2022 17:46

Then is normal to you?
Inspired by the boiled egg thread .

By default a bacon sandwich made by me means bacon between buttered...toast!

It doesn't stick to your palate and feels more substantial.
Am i right?

Bacon on bread, sausage on toast.

Those are the rules

coffeepleeease · 22/12/2022 18:04

Nope white bread, butter and ketchup

Els1e · 22/12/2022 18:12

Proper white bread (not toasted), no butter, squeeze of HP, and dry cure bacon with fat left on. Bloody lovely. 😍

BCBird · 22/12/2022 18:14

Nooooo. White bread and red sauce (ketchup) absolutely no butter. Are you northern? My good mare has butter on it when I visit. Obviously the red sauce becomes brown sauce if u put a poached or fried egg on bacon sandwich. Bugger got eggs but no bacon or bread🙈

SomethingOriginal2 · 22/12/2022 18:16

No! White bread slathered in butter with ketchup.

Bittercup · 22/12/2022 18:17

My mum insists the best way is to toast just the outside of the bread and leave the inside untoasted. Not quite sure how, why or when she discovered that.

Eminybob · 22/12/2022 18:18

Yep. Toast for me too OP

StrawberryWater · 22/12/2022 18:19

Bacon on toast is dryer than a nuns arsehole.

Its a no from me, that’s not a bacon sarnie.

newtb · 22/12/2022 18:19

Wholemeal bread
Streaky bacon
NO butter

Montague22 · 22/12/2022 18:20

No! That’s two lots of crispy!
I like really crispy bacon and soft bread (prefer white, granary okay)
No butter
Ketchup or, once in a blue moon, brown sauce

FinanceLPlates · 22/12/2022 18:20

Thick slices of lightly toasted challah bread, mayonnaise, bacon just on the crispy side. Fried egg with runny yolk optional. Food of the gods.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 22/12/2022 18:20

Genuinely never had such a visceral reaction to a thread.

ABSOLUTELY NOT AND YOU ARE TOTALLY BEING UNREASONABLE.

I’ve an attack of the vapours <fans self>

riotlady · 22/12/2022 18:20

Bread if it’s just bacon, toast if there’s an egg in it

HerRoyalNotness · 22/12/2022 18:22

I lightly toast mine, just for a slight crunch

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 22/12/2022 18:27

Rolls with the insides dipped in the pan to pick up bacon fat. No sauce. No butter.

Madcats · 22/12/2022 18:29

I'm with the white bread and streaky bacon mob (keep away from the toaster!).

I tend to favour mayo over our (invariably) rock hard butter.

Ketchup divides our family.

At a push I could cope with pre-sliced brown; needs must!

Upwiththelark76 · 22/12/2022 18:29

Thick white bread and definitely NO butter. But lashings of tomato sauce !

Jingleoverthatway · 22/12/2022 18:34

Warburtons toastie bread (orange wrapper one), butter, crispy streaky bacon, so much brown sauce your eyes sting, big mug of tea. If hungover, add two fried hash browns to sandwich.

I've been veggie for 8 years but I reckon I'd crack faced with that breakfast of dreams.

ChristmasCakeAndStilton · 22/12/2022 18:35

Soft white bread - roll or slices as a first choice.

If the bread is a bit stale, DS2 likes "half toast" - two thin slices put together in the toaster, so the outside is toast, but the middle is still bread.

bridgetreilly · 22/12/2022 18:37

You are completely wrong. It needs untoasted fresh white bread or a roll. With tomato sauce.

jaundicedoutlook · 22/12/2022 18:39

Untoasted if it is white bread and streaky bacon.

Toasted if it is brown / wholemeal bread or if you are using back bacon.

Marmite27 · 22/12/2022 18:39

Very wrong OP.

we often lightly toast the bread because hovis best of both disintegrates with bacon and ketchup. Quite often accompanied by an egg, but never, ever butter.

girlmom21 · 22/12/2022 18:40

Don't be gross, OP.

SunflowerSmith · 22/12/2022 18:40

I've never tried a bacon sandwich, I love bread and bacon though so should give it a try

CrapBag39 · 22/12/2022 18:42

DH loves bacon and sausage in toast 😑 I like butter bread and using the hot bacon to melt the butter in, then ketchup. Bacon has to be dead crispy.
