To expect DH to start standing up to pee now that we have a DS?

He has done this for as long as we have been together (10 years). He says it's more comfortable . I can't say it's something I have ever found particularly attractive, but he's such a dude in every other respect I have somehow managed to live with it.

Now we have a DS (DC1 is DD) I suddenly seem to mind more. Surely it's time for him to do the right thing, and to stand up to the toilet like a man? I don't want DS growing up thinking that's the norm. I mean, what'll he think the first time he encounters a urinal?????

phew

MyWifePeesStandingUp · 02/02/2008 22:55

I rather wish my wife would do as your DH does.
She utterly disgusts me with this particular habit and sets no example to our DD whatsoever.
I know that she is the one who cleans the bathroom, but, honestly, it's really unattractive.

NQC - for your sake I hope that thread wasn't a product of your own imagination...

my dh sits occasionally, i don't really like it and i say so but he's not bothered so i just leave it at that. The reason i don't like it is different though, i feel it's unhygenic cause his 'thing' might touch the inside of the toilet or get splashed by 'poo particles' if he does one and the idea of that grosses me out.

FrannyandZooey · 02/02/2008 23:02

cheers NQC I missed that one at the time

FrannyandZooey · 02/02/2008 23:03

Dalrymps good lord
well I mean good lord, I don't quite know what to say

Sycamoretree · 02/02/2008 23:04

Dalrymps - You are worse than me!!! TBH that never even crossed my mind, but now you've put the idea in my head I am double grossed out! But hang on, all men poo sitting down, so wouldn't the poo particles theory apply regardless of whether he's peeing or pooing????

DS1 called to me, quite alarmed, the other day, "Mummy, Mummy, me wee's gone all brown!"

Can you guess what had happened, folks? [vomit]

fingerwoman · 02/02/2008 23:04

pmsl at his "thing" touching the bowl.

I am sure everyone experiences a certain amount of erm, "splashback" as well so I shouldn't worry too mcuh.

I for one had a dp who kneels down to piss. now that really is weird.

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 23:05

Dalrymps, do you expect him to poo with his chesney over the seat, like a curious turtle?

Sycamoretree · 02/02/2008 23:06

Ok Fingerwoman, you had or you HAVE a DP who kneels to pee? What on earth could be the reasoning for that - can you elucidate?

OP posts:
madamez · 02/02/2008 23:07

Hunker, his chesney? As in his one and only? PMSL and thinking that actually I've got enough to be going on with as potty training DS at the moment and he is having trouble remembering to tuck his willy behind the splashguard on his loo seat...

Sycamoretree · 02/02/2008 23:07

PMSL "curious turtle"....Visual image....double PMSL

oh, cool! we haven't had a sit down to pee thread in a while!

i had NEVER heard of a man sitting to wee until i came on MN.

but then, i'd never heard of mooncups, either.

fingerwoman · 02/02/2008 23:09

chesney????????

yes, I HAVE a dp who kneels to pee.
his reasoning is that it won't go on the floor. and in the dark you don't have to aim.

fingerwoman · 02/02/2008 23:10

he says, on further questioning, that he doesn't sit down to pee because it is deviant. as many have pointed out here lol

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 23:10

I am sorry. I am pmsl at my last post.

Yes, Madamez, his one and only. DS1 won't have it though, "No, Mummy it's not my chesney (in tones of withering scorn), it's my WILLY!".

DS1 calls nipples "beegles" though - NO idea why. I told him they were nipples - one day, he looked at his chest in horror and said, "What's DAT, Mummy?!!". He remembered it as beegles. Beegles they have remained.

expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 23:10

he kneels to pee?

i've heard it all now!

Sycamoretree · 02/02/2008 23:11

God Fingerwoman - the effort involved to get down and back up again? He's not Catholic by any chance?

Bet he has masterful quads though...

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 23:12

dd2 tried to suck my boob today.

she's two, fgs!

then dd1 came in and yelled, 'remember how she used to suck your booby?'

how can i forget!? i had to buy all new bras after my tits deflated!

expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 23:12

finger, has your dp ever heard of a lightswitch?

hunkermunker · 02/02/2008 23:13

EIS... It was pregnancy wot did it, not bf, you myth-perpetuator, you

fingerwoman · 02/02/2008 23:13

masterful quads? if only.
I wonder if he does it at the office as well.

I told ds that his "chesney" was called a penis and he just looked at me incredulously and said
"that's not a peeeeeeeeen, that's a wee wee"
err ok then

Sycamoretree · 02/02/2008 23:14

Watch out expat, you'll have longterm BF's on your case with loose talk like that!!!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 23:16

, sycamore.

i know it was pregnancy, and i'd do it the same way again tomorrow if i had to.
