To expect DH to start standing up to pee now that we have a DS?

He has done this for as long as we have been together (10 years). He says it's more comfortable . I can't say it's something I have ever found particularly attractive, but he's such a dude in every other respect I have somehow managed to live with it.

Now we have a DS (DC1 is DD) I suddenly seem to mind more. Surely it's time for him to do the right thing, and to stand up to the toilet like a man? I don't want DS growing up thinking that's the norm. I mean, what'll he think the first time he encounters a urinal?????

BTW - I saw my boobs properly in cold, cruel light of day today for first time since loosing 2 1/2 stone of pregnancy weight...how is it possible for your skin to turn crepe paper in such a short space of time???

Is it ok to completely revise your position on cosmetic surgery after cooking up two humungous DC's? I am in mourning for my mams.... And don't get me started on my stomach after two c-sections....

I bought a scratchcard, with two pounds I won on a scratch card (not that I'm a SC addict or anything!!!). I won two pounds...I'm in a lottery groundhog day.

Logging off now - nice chatting

my 3 yr old ds pee's standing up has done for ages - he's a better aim than his dad IMHO - and very rarely makes a mess - i was quite suprised to find a little boy i minded the other day, sits to wee (he's been toilet trained for several months)
i don't understand why it matters to the OP how her DP wee's or why it'd make him less attractive saying that i've never been in a relationship with a "sitter"

Dalrymps · 02/02/2008 23:40

chesney? curious turtle? PMSL + ROFL at that just as dh came in the door from work never really thought about where his 'chesney' would bee during a number 2 before... now i'm double grossed out lol. Ah well off to bed

BroccoliSpears · 03/02/2008 11:20

Seriously, it was an issue for my dad and brothers when we lived in the far east. The loos there have a poo catching shelf that could also act as a tackle resting shelf if they were just dangled in willy nilly (arf) for a number two.

My dad tells me he used to have a wee standing and then adopt the 'curious turtle' for the sit down bit.

LadyVictorianSqualor · 03/02/2008 11:28

ROFLing at how many posters seem to think they know how men wee!
How many have you watched, seriously?
My DP sits down, and I much prefer it, DS is three and no way would he be able to stand up and pee, it's bad enough having wee all over the floor when his 'winky stands up'

LadyVictorianSqualor · 03/02/2008 11:46

Oh, actually, I'm thinking that maybe I would like DP to wee standing up, as they still get urine over the seat, just the underside which is horrid to see if you're vomiting for britain.

Hecate · 03/02/2008 12:05

Don't watch him.

Get him to shut the bathroom door when he wees. Then you don't need to give it a thought.

Hecate · 03/02/2008 12:08

I wish my 3 would pee sitting down.

Then I wouldn't go into the bathroom and skid on the wet patch, crash into the bath, bounce back off it, fall backwards and land back next to the loo with my hair in the wet patch.

Dottydot · 03/02/2008 12:10

I used to worry about ds's not standing up to wee - ds1 is 6 and refuses to try - got myself all worked up feeling guilty it's because there's no male role model in the house...

Then had dinner the other week with a couple who've got 3 boys and somehow the conversation got onto weeing (like it does ) and the Dad said he tells them they have to sit down to wee - much more hygenic and he sits down to wee as well!

Was very relieved that other boys/men sit down to wee and pleased that ds's continue to sit down - long may it last!

lokka · 03/02/2008 12:47

DP wees sitting and just told me that he enjoys the wee more that way and he's too lazy to do it standing
