I don't want to start a UCM type thread but it just struck me how prety much everyone i saw at the shops earlier was foreign.

no one seemed to be speaking English at all.

OP posts:
cthea · 21/08/2008 11:29

Gosh, I could have a field day if I pointed out all the mistakes made by the Englishers.

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 11:30

ROFFLE @ Englishers

ConstanceWearing · 21/08/2008 11:31

Let's just rename this thread 'am I being a total fascist', to which the answer is 'yes you are', and leave it at that.

You may embrace some cultures which are not your own, but if you are intolerant of certain other cultures existing in your own society then you are still a racist, imho.

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 11:36

I lived in Bicester and went to Bicester community collage. How many black people on average to you see walking around the town I was in Bicester easily about a month ago and don't recall seeing any my Sister use to work in The Kings Arm Hotel as a assistant manager and I can never remember seeing anyone but White English people in their. I know for a fact how racist Oxfordshire is on a whole. My family for one are very racist on the basis that if I brought my BLACK DP home with me they would stop talking to me. SO you don't actually live in a big city you live in a town. Also you do not have a high inflation of eastern Europeans in Bicester you have the odd one or two maybe a few Australians but nothing compared to London where in some areas there is whole communities there.

No I am using Patios to prove a point as for being racist if not agreeing with all that is being said makes me racist then yeah ok then I am a racist with a Black DP you know what they say once you go black you don't go back. JOKER!

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 11:43

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 11:43

Show which post I was being a racist on?

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 11:44

Ah, BCC, explains a lot.

Like your use of their for there, and vice versa.

People you know may be racist but that doesn't make a whole town or city racist.

Also, I am in Oxford city a couple of times a week, it is a large city, and probably one of the most integrated cities in the UK. The city may not be full of black people, but it certainly has a high percentage of people that are not British, hundreds of thousands of people come from all over the world to study in Oxford at any one time.

Hidden racism, like your own, IMO, is probably worse than all out BNP racism. At least the BNP don't pretend to believe people are equal yet ooze racism from every pore.

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 11:46

"tell me you do not feel uncomfortable or unsafe in these areas tell me that not everywhere you look there is not one English person"
"Eastern Europeans are taking over the uk"

No, not racist at all.

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 11:56

Listen where have I been racist? Quite alot of people in Oxfordshire are racist that is a fact.

LOL at hidden racism I don't look at people by the colour or creed I believe everyone is equal.

My point was about people speaking a different language and being able to claim benefits for kids they don't look after.
Also the fact that when you go to certain areas of London its un safe for you to be there because you are not from their culture last time I checked this was England.
It's that bad in London that my God daughter is not allowed to do a nativity play at Christmas they have to say happy holiday etc
So open your eyes to what is going on in the country and again show me where I am racist I have clearly stated that I work with Polish South African Czech Brazilians the list goes on and I was pointing out that these people are not paid less than me as someone had said alot of polish are underpaid etc.

Stop pulling the racist card out because you don't agree with what I am saying its easier for you to call me a racist and feel righteous than to actually view my point and come back with a good arguement.

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 11:59

How is that Racist explain what part of that is racist? I think it is fact that in areas such as Frinsbury park its unsafe to walk around certain parts of it. On a real how is that racist???????

ConstanceWearing · 21/08/2008 11:59

I don't need a definition of racism, shorty. It's you who doesn't seem to understand that you can love black people, and still be a racist.

The Eastern Europeans aren't members of the British race. They are a different race to you (I presume you are British) therefore your dislike and distrust of them is racist and prejudiced.

ConstanceWearing · 21/08/2008 12:00

Because we assume that if Finsbury Park was full of white English people, you wouldn't feel unsafe (which is a load of absolute bollocks, imo).

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 12:04

I think you should read all my posts I never said I disliked anyone because of there race or culture for that matter. In areas of London its very unsafe to walk thru if you don't belong to there culture but I have never said I distrust anyone. So your statement is KAK

VictorianSqualor · 21/08/2008 12:07

You're hidden racism is evident in the claims that Easter Europeans are taking over the UK, you then try and cover your back by shouting from the rooftops that your friends/dp/godchildren etc are black.
I'm assuming you know that you can be accepting of one culture and still be racist to another.

As for me not having a good 'arguement', I really can't see what your argument is?

You claim it is unsafe to walk in certain places because you are white? Do you have any proof of this? Or are you of the belief that the only racial tension is against white british?

WRT the child benefit, these children are entitled to the payments because they live in the EEA, South Africans are not entitled until they receive citizenship as you have to have a visa if not from the EEA, once you have your passport it all changes.

I still don't see how the Eastern Europeans taking over the UK is an acceptable or non-racist viewpoint whichever way you look at it or whatever colour penis you're shagging.

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 12:08

Ummm I never said that either the fact of the matter is Finsbury Park is not full of English people unless its match day at good ole Arsenal. Even to that point coming home from an Arsenal game People get regular racial abuse from the immigrants.

cestlavie · 21/08/2008 12:08

Sorry, am I missing something about Finsbury Park? I only ask because I lived there for several years and only moved out about a year ago.

As I recall, it's no less or more dangerous than many other places around London. In fact, personally I always felt less threatened as the non-drinking North African lads who form a fair proportion of the folk around there are not a fraction as dangerous or intimidating as the average bunch of pissed up Stella lager lads I used to see giving out kickings in my Yorkshire home town. The real danger around Finsbury Park was around the red-light area at the wrong time and from the random crack-heads and alchies who were about equally black and white.

Perhaps I'm wrong though Shorty, did you live there as well?

Aitch · 21/08/2008 12:09

lol at 80,000 poles in england constituting a 'takeover'. i know they've got the reputation as being industrious but they'll have to go some to overwhelm the rest of the 60million-strong population.

i think that, shorty, a lot more of your family's racism has seeped into you than you think...

MrsMattie · 21/08/2008 12:10

What a disgusting, pathetic thread. One good thing, though - at least I know who to avoid on MN from now on!

So many dimwits it's unbelievable!

ConstanceWearing · 21/08/2008 12:16

If you say so. Excellent rhetoric, btw.

mamadiva · 21/08/2008 12:18

Oh dear ventured onto this hread and have just read through!

I don't really know if I want to air my views incase I get labelled a racist but I am not! So bugger it say what you wish LOL

Where I live there are ALOT of Polish and Portuguese people and in both my workplace and my DP's workplace there are certain people who take advantage of the British government, I know of 3 people who are claiming beneifts for children who have no intention of moving here and are getting benefits for them whilst they are over here then are going to move back over in a year or so when they have made more money.

I don't disagree so much with that part but I don't agree with lying to obtain benefits taking our taxes under false pretences it's not right that there are so many foreigners who just come here because they can get handouts so easily for not even working. If you don't plan to work then you shouldn't be allowed to emigrate (sp?) and that goes for Brits too not just people coming here.

Anyway back to the original post YABabitU if you were trying to talk to someone fair enough if not then what difference does it make to you?. Although I do hate it when you atlk to someone and they look at you as if your thick because they don't speak English.

ummadam · 21/08/2008 12:19

if you saw me out shopping you would think I was 'foreign'. In fact English is the only language I speak (I'm not proud of that) I was born and raised in the uk as were my parents and their parents all the way back until the 1700s (which is as far back as I have traced my family tree). Appearances can be deceptive.

TheFifthApe · 21/08/2008 12:19

I can't even be arsed wading throught this (I may already be on it if it is an old one)

poles have 'invaded' our town to such a degree that I am now forced to buy yummy food when I go to Tesco from the polish section

it is a disgrace, I am now pickle mad

[country going to the dogs etc]

MrsMattie · 21/08/2008 12:19

p.s. Shorty - are any of the Gooners actually English? Funny how racists pay a fortune to watch 'foreigners' win their club medals and then complain about having to pass a few of them in the street on the way home!

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 12:24

Yeah I have lived in Finsbury Park and this is not about blacks or whites. Obv alot of you are not grown up or open minded enough to view other people's opinions maybe if you look at the bigger picture you will see my point anyways I do not need to justify myself to any of you I know that I am not racist I get on well with everyone in my office I have friends from all cultures and countries obv my point is not something you agree with but hey the truth hurts and Living in places like London you do see how different it is from places like Bicester and Hertfordshire etc

Shorty84 · 21/08/2008 12:29

Mrsmattie I never complained about having to pass a few of them in the street its more than that When you go past them they throw abuse at us because we are ENGLISH!!! FFS READ WHAT I POSTED AND STOP HALF READING THINGS!!!!! KMT! I don't see any of the Arsenal Players claiming benefits for there kids that live in another country either as I have stated I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM!!! WITH FOREIGN PEOPLE!! I LIVE AND WORK WITH THEM ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS!!!
