Freaked out by footprints

Letitsnow32 · 18/12/2022 13:41

We have a fresh layer of snow in our back garden that has been undisturbed until now. I went into my garden this morning to find fresh footprints in the form of a large circle. The footprints must be of a child based on the size and the prints look like the underside of wellies. I’m most freaked out because there are no footprints leading up to this circle or leaving, it’s just a perfect imprint where they have walked in a large circle. My garden is very secure, my neighbour to one side has thick prickly bushes against the fence and the other side has bird deterrent spikes along the full length (don’t ask), the back has a large office block, it would be impossible for anyone to climb over unnoticed. The rest of the snow is untouched. I can’t work out how this has happened without footprints leading from and to their entrance/exit site. It definitely wasn’t there yesterday as I check every day to see if the snow has melted. DD is too small to go outside alone, it isn’t from anyone in the house. There aren’t any children living nearby who may have sneaked in somehow. Can anyone come up with a plausible explanation before I abandon ship and put the house up for sale!?

@Letitsnow32
No, not without a photo - preferably several from different angles.

Springheeled Jack?

😂Excellent!

Chocoholic900 · 18/12/2022 15:01

Is it from where the grass has been trodden on, flattening the grass in that spot, then snow fell on top and leaving the impression from where it was trodden on before it snowed? So more like an dip in the grass as opposed to a clear fresh footprint in the snow?

fancyacuppatea · 18/12/2022 15:04

Is it like a mini crop circle?

Aliens.

Gotta be.

You are the chosen one OP.

ThreeblackCats · 18/12/2022 15:06

I’ll take things that didn’t happen for 100 points. I hope op has enjoyed her attention.

I reckon a photo would be fairly easy, I'm thinking a very long stick with a weighted welly on the end. I might give it a go myself as the OP can't be bothered.

One snowy Xmas holiday many decades ago, my mates & I walked home from the pub, taking a long route round the houses to mock admire the competitive light decorations.

We had a stroke of inspiration outside the showiest house, so burly mates lifted me to preserve my dainty toes from the cold, peeled off my wellies & 'walked' them directly over the neighbour's car, from boot to bonnet.

It really looked like somebody had walked full-weight over a prized vehicle. To raucous pissheads, anyway ...

Why Will Smith? 🙈😂

Fresh prince!

Bollindger · 18/12/2022 15:10

Bet it is an animal, maybe a bird was in the tree and the fox was walking round and trying to get it. Then jumped away.

KettrickenSmiled · 18/12/2022 15:10

It's bird or animal prints OP.
They 'splay' on melting & re-freezing, to quite surprising sizes.

Yes. Wearing wellies. 😁

Paddington dropped down from heaven where the Queen took him, did a circuit then she called him back up for marmalade sandwiches.

Onnabugeisha · 18/12/2022 15:33

Fairy circle

SirenSays · 18/12/2022 15:34

I love the idea OP has been out in her garden for two hours tying wellies to sticks to try and get this photo

Bluekerfuffle · 18/12/2022 15:36

A drone with a wellington boot attached flew in and did it.

WetLettuce2 · 18/12/2022 15:44

@SirenSays she’d better hurry up it’s going dark 😂

notforme · 18/12/2022 15:48

Im gonna go with @onmywayamarillo and say its a robin with wellies

Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 18/12/2022 15:55

Probably a pigeon with a fat butt hopping in a circle, realising it was too cold and flying off.

ShirleyPhallus · 18/12/2022 15:58

We have this in our garden and it’s foxes footprints where the snow has melted a bit. We checked our cctv because they looked like child’s boot prints

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2022 16:04

Hope there’s a pic soon. MN have shared this thread on their FB page.

Letitsnow32 · 18/12/2022 16:07

Problem solved my neighbour had the same thing and saw a fox jumping over, so thanks to those who replied with helpful responses while I was contemplating an alien invasion! I do have a photo and no I didn’t spend all afternoon perfecting prints to fake it 😁

Was the fox wearing wellies?

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2022 16:10

Why don’t you post the photo?

Moveoverdarlin · 18/12/2022 16:11

Moveoverdarlin · 18/12/2022 16:12
