Bear with me as my excuse is I'm vegetarian.

With friends who were talking about their Christmas dinner. Said they were having a three bird roast, and I really thought the birds were all stuffed into each other.

I just couldn't figure out how that happened.

British Three Bird Roast
£20.00
British 1.2kg turkey with chicken thigh and duck breast, Pork, cranberry and port stuffing

it’s not necessary 3 birds, but it’s three type of meat. The above is from Morrisons. Really nice.

What an undignified end to their lives..

Absolutely grim. So many humans are depraved.

Please explain why is this worse that ending up as KFC or McDonalds nugget, as said previously the birds are unaware?

KrisAkabusi · 14/12/2022 00:18

You don't pull them apart! As explained many times they are deboned and rolled together. So to seve, you simply carve vertical slices so each slice has a piece of each bird.

AH. Since I don't read every message on ever thread, I have managed to miss this. It still sounds rather horrid. But then, I am not overly fond of duck. I don't loathe it, but would NEVER choose to cook it for myself.

WinterDeWinter · 14/12/2022 00:27

id be spitting feathers I think

its all a bit own-brand Henry VIII

HintofVintagePink · 14/12/2022 00:29

It’s not that much worse but it is pretty depraved. But then I think cooking a baby in its mother’s milk is grim as well (veal in cream sauce anyone?).

ADifferentKindofChristmas · 14/12/2022 00:39

We are having a 3 fish roast on Christmas Eve.

That's whole Salmon, then lined with smoked Haddock, then the middle is cod.

No grinding or pate involved.

It's delicious!Xmas Grin

I'm an enthusiastic carnivore but I have no desire to try one of these. Let alone anything whose name begins with "turd..."

My thoughts too!!

I've heard that cannibals dream of the 'Three Davi(e)s Roast': Warwick Davis, inside Alan Davies, inside Greg Davies.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 14/12/2022 01:00

Hedwig?

Anyway, I tried a 3 bird roast a few years ago
It was pretty nasty actually.

abblie · 14/12/2022 01:01

I thought it was just slices of 3 different birds lol that how clueless I am but I've never heard of this

dontgobaconmyheart · 14/12/2022 01:26

I imagine it's more likely that there is more than one method, or perhaps a traditional method and then a modern processed method (eg what you'll probably get in Aldi etc).

I'm not a vegan but the whole thing seems excessively morbid for my tastes, how many things can we kill for one meal sort of sentiments.

Trinidading3 · 14/12/2022 01:39

That's gross especially with Avian Flu situation.....we normally have Duck or Goose...not this year......

not stuffed up each other, though? 😱

MysteryBelle · 14/12/2022 02:27

I thought it meant having three totally separate bird dishes like turkey, pheasant, and goose. Like having two kinds of turkey, roast and boiled. Or turkey and ham.

It is the most grotesque thing I’ve ever heard of. I don’t want to see what it looks like. This may turn me off even eating roast turkey which I like. Or did like.

momonpurpose · 14/12/2022 02:36

In the US we have truducken. A debunked chicken in a duck in a turkey

sashh · 14/12/2022 02:48

There are aspects of both. The traditional multi roast was whole de boned birds and there could be loads, 10 or 15, but more recently it's something like a chicken with pieces of other birds, such as a duck breast.

DuncanBiscuits · 14/12/2022 02:53

This thread 😂

I’m cackling at the Three Davies Roast, the debunked chicken and ‘annellini’.

What was the chicken lying about? And what shape is ‘annellini’? Little stars?

😂😂😂

SomethingOriginal2 · 14/12/2022 04:05

It looks and sounds absolutely gross. I'll stick to my maple cola gammon.
