Hmmmm - what could he gave done that needed lies told to us ?

I thought this was about Harry being named as taking drugs when really it was William.

All public figures have some sort of relationship with the press - it's a weird relationship where both sides are trying to get the upper hand on the other. The only time the mainstream press agree to 'hold back' news is for serious stuff like delaying death announcements until all the family members know. Or not leaking serious illness when being given a 'heads up' to get an obit ready. Or if there is something that affects national security / or a criminal case.

There can be a little quid pro quo if a journalist is digging around a story but doesn't really have something concrete then the PR for the public figure might try to distract with an interesting alternative to get them off the scent. But journalists aren't stupid, they know when they are being handed a story as a distraction - just makes them pretend to put something on the back burner to circle back to later.

If there was any possible way to prove that William is or has previously cheated on Kate there's nothing the RF could offer a tabloid on Harry or Meghan or another member of the family not to print that story - it would be front page news for weeks - so much potential for sad pictures of Kate, angry pictures of Kate, stressed pictures of Ma and Pa Middleton etc etc.

Maybe William actually bought the wolves that Megs was fed to?

I always thought it vaguely strange that Kate and Harry had such a (publicly) strong SIL/BIL relationship - messing about, laughing together - until the William affair rumours started. As a completely uneducated guess I think Harry was very fond of Kate and extremely pissed off with his brother for playing away. Kate sided with W which is when Harry's disenchantment with the RF started.

None of this is good for anyone. It has to be down to money and poor guidance. I wonder if Meg has ASD traits. Some of the ‘I’m not listening to anyone else’ stuff really relates. The producers have made it very London v LA, Us V Them. It won’t end well.

@Ivyonafence I agree. The future of the rf is stacked on William and KAte. Charles isn't going to be king for 70 years like his mum. Plus he's not going to be hugely popular. He has too much baggage.

We've been sold this 'accessible' middle class version of the royals in William and Kate. They are sold as being 'just like us'. If the rumours came out it would've really damaging. William's image would be permanently damaged. History repeating like his dad. Treating Kate like rubbish whe he kept her waiting for years. If they want to rule us then we deserve the truth.

There shouldn't be any injunctions to protect the royals. This affair has been reported all over the world. It had so come out here.

Probably nothing, let's be fair they have outed themselves as blatant liars already, the story about them getting married 3 days prior to the televised wedding in a garden with the archbishop - who publically stated that never happened. Everything they say has an agenda and they are not beyond fabricating stories entirely.

It's about the alleged bridesmaid incident IMO. I doubt Harry was even there at the time but as always, he thinks his version of events should go completely unchallenged.

He's a very bitter man. What is he going to do for work after this? He has many reasons to be happy but he can't see them while his focus is on the past and his perceived injustices. He's never going to earn enough money to keep them in their current lifestyle, so what will they do next?

Also, there is no injunction about an alleged affair - I think they instructed their lawyers to issue warnings that they would definitely pursue libel charges if anything was published. The tabloids would have to be able to prove it was true to defend themselves - as they haven't published there is obviously no proof to be found.

I don’t think it will be about the Nazi thing, we’ve already had it was the biggest mistake of his life, he met with rabbi’s and holocaust survivors etc.

He can hardly turn around two episodes later and say, I never wanted to do it, William made me, and I didn’t think to say no!

I think it will be vague allegations l, probably about drinking/drugs use when younger or something.

@wordler I agree it's a weird relationship but it definitely isn't so straightforward. Why do the photos of W&K getting on Easyjet get released but not the ones on the pj to Mustique? Why do we get stupid stories about thrifty Kate rewearing a dress? Plenty of journalists & news publications knew all about Tigers cheating & the Harvey Weinstein rumours but it wasn't in their interest to publish until it was.

I think that must be a reference to the assertion made by MM that they had been married in a private ceremony by the Archbishop of Canterbury a few days before the wedding - the public wedding day that we all know. The Archbishop subsequently made clear that they had not been married privately but had been married at the public wedding that we all saw.

Obviously, it would have made the Archbishop a party to a fraud and a charade and trivialised the nature of the church and the ceremony if what she'd said had been true.

@stuntbubbles well I recall going to a wedding summer 1994 at about 13/14 weeks pregnant and wearing a floaty gauze jacket over my non fitted frock to make sure nobody noticed the ight change in shape and that nobody paid any attention to me rather than the bride. And I wasn't even a relly. But guess what, the day wasn't about me. It was about the bride.

It's the fact that William is a cheat and the Palace planted negative stories about Meghan to take the heat off William. William having an affair is a big deal given his parents' history. The rf nearly went tits up after Diana's death but William and Harry elicited so much sympathy that it was given a reprieve, as they were promoted as the future. Now William is just another Charles. It's super odd - given how common the knowledge of William's cheating is among journalists - that posters on MN are still very weakly hoping against hope that it isn't true. It is, and this isn't about tights.
