Sibling rivalry is at the heart of it all. Jealousy and rivalry. They have pulled a giant con with the racism angle but I think they’ve overplayed it and people are starting to see them for the over-privileged narcissists that they are. Fgs, nobody even knew she was mixed-race. Certainly she was never viewed as “an angry black woman” (referenced by a previous poster): I can well believe she said something horrible to Kate simply because we are all pretty good judges of character and to my mind Harry comes across as thick, utterly devoid of intellect while Meghan just strikes me as a nasty piece of work who cannot maintain relationships and survives by tearing others down and playing the victim. I would not like to be in her company, or cross her. I imagine she would be terrifying to work for/with.

I need to read the whole thread but sharing my tuppence that there is no way Will and Rose had an affair. Just no way; they are chalk and cheese and he isn’t a womaniser at all. Despite Philip and Charles going down that route! Rose is very different to him in character!

How do you know William isn’t a womaniser?!

Did you also know that Tiger Woods definitely wasn’t a womaniser until he got caught out?!

abblie · 13/12/2022 02:02

There is a video clip going round and he says the bristish media lied for his brother and it looks like netflix has cropped British media out so people are intrigued to watch the documentary

It is all a bit toxic.

But it’s always toxic for those who doesn’t toe the line. Look what happened with Diana too.

Maybe they are making enough money to never be in the spotlight ever again.

HardRock · 13/12/2022 02:04

*don’t

Ladybugpolkadot · 13/12/2022 02:05

I don’t know… I feel like Meghan was very much demonised by the press, and much of what people think of her has been influenced by that. And I do think there was racist undertones… Of course she and Harry are privileged, but all the royals are… I do have more respect for Harry in the fact he has decided to make a life for himself in the States and be independent and no longer leech of UK tax payer money to fund his lifestyle unlike the rest of the royals…

Its high time the royal family was abolished tbh, then the prince of pegging can openly get his kicks without fear of destroying the royal family reputation lol 🫣🤣

It's tradition that all the men in that family have affairs. I don't doubt one of the reasons Prince Phillip's will can't be made public for 100 years or whatever it is is because they don't want the embarrassment of a few kids he fathered here or there. Charles did it so I can't see why William is any different.

Extramarital affairs are pretty much a tradition in the upper classes. Prince Albert Edward (later Edward VII) was a well-known playboy.

ganachee · 13/12/2022 02:31

I don’t think it will be about any possible affairs. Harry in the past said when he and William were younger, teenager to twenties - any partying William did at that age was mainly kept under wraps whilst Harry’s wasn’t. I surmise it would be this kind of thing Harry is talking about! I could be wrong.

Harry makes the “a ginger” landing a woman “as beautiful” as Meghan comment himself in the programme! I assumed that poster was referencing him in his own words.

This!

Maybebabyno2 · 13/12/2022 03:07

I'm just really glad H&M are getting the privacy they desired.

TheKeatingFive · 13/12/2022 03:12

Saying as they never asked for privacy, that's ok then

What do you mean, no one knew? Aside from the wall-to-wall media coverage about her race, from tabloids printing her family tree, the “gangstER” and “straight outta Compton” headlines, and doorstopping her mother, to the positive “Black Princess” coverage from friendlier press?

Talia99 · 13/12/2022 03:13

Interestingly enough, H&M say now (as in within the last few days) that they never mentioned ‘privacy’ in their reasons for leaving and that this was a tabloid invention. I’m not sure I believe them but I can’t find an actual quote from them to the contrary (lots of tabloid reports saying they said they wanted privacy and calling them hypocrites but no specific occasion ever quoted when it was actually said).

Does anyone have a link to a verified occasion when H&M themselves made any mention of privacy?

Talia99 · 13/12/2022 03:17

I’ve tried doing a Google search but there are so many tabloid reports about them saying they wanted privacy (but not giving any particular occasion they did so) that any actual occasion such a statement was made (if it was and they are lying) seems to be buried.

I also went looking for a ‘privacy’ quote and couldn’t find one. I’d also be very interested in a link. It’s so commonly said that’s what they wanted, but absolutely no official link to it, that I can find.

TheKeatingFive · 13/12/2022 03:26

There isn't a quote because they didn't say it. They said they wanted to step back as senior royals and protect their children from the British press. Not that they wanted privacy.

Sindonym · 13/12/2022 03:33

MakeItADouble2 · 12/12/2022 20:31

Yes the Palace courts the press. You keep quiet about William's affair and we will let you go on about Megan

Yeah this does seem to be a thing.

Morestrangethings · 13/12/2022 03:38

“Fgs, nobody even knew she was mixed-race. Certainly she was never viewed as “an angry black woman” (referenced by a previous poster)

But this was a daily mail headline a full year before they were engaged:

“EXCLUSIVE: Harry's girl is (almost) straight outta Compton: Gang-scarred home of her mother revealed - so will he be dropping by for tea?

Prince Harry's new girl, Suits star Meghan Markle, is from Crenshaw, LA
Crenshaw has endured 47 crimes in the past week - including murder
Gangs, including the Bloods, count the neighborhood as their territory
Markle' social worker mom, Doria Ragland, lives in the run-down area
And the actress's aunt, Ava Burrow, is in nearby gang-afflicted Inglewood
By RUTH STYLES IN LOS ANGELES FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
PUBLISHED: 15:41 AEDT, 2 November 2016 |”

So, ‘nobody even knew’ is really ‘quite a few people knew’

Sindonym · 13/12/2022 03:39

The TV coverage at the time (on the third episode) shows everyone knew she was mixed race. It was really positive for many British people at the time.

i have watched the first 3 episodes & come away reminded how evil the tabloids are. No wonder the press are frothing over the series.

stuntbubbles · 13/12/2022 03:41

There was no “we’re doing this for privacy” in their original Megxit announcement.

….. to wonder exactly WHAT specific lie was told to protect Price William ?
Talia99 · 13/12/2022 03:47

So by ‘they said they wanted privacy’, the tabloids actually mean ‘they said they would keep doing charitable works’, i.e. the exact opposite since I’m fairly sure charitable fundraising is usually done in public. It’s frightening how widely disseminated the tabloid narrative is (and the number of people who call M & H liars/hypocrites just based on that one tabloid lie).

I’ve always found it interesting how Mumsnet as a whole despises the Daily Mail and doesn’t believe a word they say - except in regard to M & H where every word is taken as the gospel truth.

Harry needs to shut the fuck up now and stop spreading stupid vague rumours that he won't substantiate. His actions are affecting the next generation, eg George, Charlotte, Louis. Has he ever thought about that?? If not, he should. After all, that's just what he's complaining about 🙄

His actions? Or Williams and Charles? Or the press or the public?
mid you were the scape goat you wouldn’t speak up? What about his children?

do you not see this for what it is? A young boy has been seriously messed up for life because of the family he was born into, the death of his mother and how he had to put the needs of the public above his own after his mothers death?
his mother was persecuted and demonised in the press hounded until her literal death Theres footage of her dying. He had to read about every little thing between his parents and watch both his parents suffer. All for what the crown? Public face.
his first memory is the press
the fact that your on mumsney posting he has fuxked it up says it all.
he should never have had to go through any of that. To please us the public? Why do the public think we have the right to say he can live his life a certain way?
and don’t give me this we pay for then rubbish the most of them work very hard on very good causes and bring in a lot of revenue!

if Harry wants to move away with his wife and do a documentary in his own words then why not? You don’t have to watch
if you care about the younger children royals then stop buying the media that tears the rf down when they feel like and respect their privacy

vera99 · 13/12/2022 04:06

Kate should allow William affairs on the side after all she is the daughter of commoners whereas he is the son of the King. The fact she can't grin and bear it is a faiing.

meinteresamucho · 13/12/2022 04:06

I don't remember them ever claiming they wanted privacy either but what was said when they actually left, after their plans as detailed in that statement had failed to gain authorisation from the queen? Did they put out a statement or did they not at that point?

The amount of coverage they give to being horrible about Megan and Harry is absolutely vile
